Oliver Greaves scores in Newport County 1-0 win at Worcester
It was a second 1-0 win on the spin for David Hughes' men after they triumphed at Undy AFC, that after a 1-1 draw at Pontypridd.
The Exiles will continue their preparations for the Carabao Cup clash at Barnet on July 29 when they travel to Weston-super-Mare on Tuesday and then Torquay United.
Chances were limited in the stifling heat but Greaves, who had a mixed first campaign at Rodney Parade due to niggles and being out of favour, boosted his first team hopes with his finish from eight yards out.
County gave action to most of their squad – although the artificial surface meant some weren't risked – but were given a scare when centre-back Jaden Warner was forced off in the second half.
Hughes' first team have two games next week then a behind closed doors fixture at Bristol City's training base before their opener at Barnet.
They then kick off League Two with a home encounter against Notts County.

Salmon, who turns 16 on August 29, has had a rapid rise in the last 12 months. Having impressed for the Under-18s, the versatile defender made his first Emirates Stadium appearance in the FA Youth Cup against Manchester United. He was fast-tracked to the Under-21s last term, playing five times at that level despite still being a schoolboy. "There are a lot of attributes that match up with me so I look up to him.' Salmon is one of eight current Arsenal academy players in Arteta's Asian selection, with creative starlet Dowman the pick of the bunch. Others include recently-converted forward Andre Annous, 17, speedy winger Ismeal Kabia, 19, versatile full-back Josh Nichols, 18, box-to-box midfielder Louie Copley, 18, plus 19-year-old goalkeepers Tommy Setford and Alexei Rojas. Former Arsenal striker Alan Smith, who netted 115 goals in eight seasons at the club in the late 1980s and early 1990s, winning two league titles, reckons Salmon and Dowman being on tour will prove invaluable to their development. Speaking to The Sun in association with William Hill, Smith said: 'For both youngsters, it's excellent experience to go on tour, it's amazing for them both to spend time with the first team, to train with them and learn from them. 'It's a good move from Mikel to take them both on tour. They will get massive exposure of what it's like to be with the first team for a significant period during the Asia tour. 'However, they are very unlikely to have game-time this season and Max especially is too young, he needs to be managed well, like Saka, Nwaneri and Lewis-Skelly. 'Max has been in the headlines for some of his performances for the younger age groups and he will gain huge experience being with the squad. 'Arsenal must be careful with Max, but you have to trust Mikel Arteta to know when to put him in. You also have to be wary of fan expectation as he is very young, but obviously he has massive potential.' Salmon was also snapped vying for a ball with fellow Gunners youth product Ethan Nwaneri out in Singapore. It followed Nwaneri's younger brother Emerson turning out in Arsenal Under-18s' 2-0 defeat to the Dover Athletic first team on Saturday.

Isak odds: Where will the Newcastle striker be next season?
Leaving goals in Newcastle when your star striker is needed to gain sharpness by playing in a pre-season friendly at Celtic was a baffling decision by Magpies manager Eddie Howe. It is understandable he didn't want Alexander Isak to be the centre of post-match speculation if he had played in the defeat to the Scottish champions at Parkhead but the move has raised red flags in a city which bleeds black and white as it has renewed speculation he could be sold. Liverpool have been linked, Saudi Arabia has been mentioned and Arsenal are lurking in the shadows as they are still trying to sign the striker needed to transform them from perennial Premier League runners-up into a side capable of winning the title for the first time in more than two decades. And who would really be shocked if Chelsea conjured up the finances to secure the Sweden international's services over a lengthy period ranging from between six to eight years? Bayern Munich could also be interested along with Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain as the Tyneside terror is one of the best finishers on the planet, having scored 54 Premier League goals in three years at the St James' Park club. Despite agreeing to sign Eintracht Frankfurt forward Hugo Ekitike for £69million, the Reds are in need of more firepower if they are to retain the title following the tragic passing of Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz's desire to move on and Arne Slot's willingness to allow Darwin Nunez to join another club. The trouble for all potential purchasers is Newcastle need back up for Isak rather than scurrying around trying to find a replacement. They have failed in attempts to sign Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, who have both joined Manchester United and missed out on Joao Pedro and Liam Delap, who have swelled Chelsea's ranks. Missing those targets mean Newcastle are highly unlikely to allow the jewel in their crown to depart, which would leave them desperately short of goals ahead of a new season which sees them back in the Champions League. Newcastle have insisted Isak is not for sale and even if they were forced to let him go because his head has been turned they would regard £150m as the bare minimum for an elite scorer who supplied 23 goals and six assists in the top-flight last term, while also bagging the decisive strike in the 2-1 Carabao Cup final success over Liverpool at Wembley. If Isak were to leave then the 4/1 with BetMGM and Unibet he heads to Anfield is a decent price but big-hitters should smash into the 1/3 with bet365 that he's still a Newcastle player when the transfer window closes. The Magpies simply cannot allow a rival club to steal him from their grasp. Johnny Rotten appears at the Rebellion Festival in Blackpool next month but the Sex Pistols singer will struggle to match the same filth and fury seen in the explosive ruckus between Gerwyn Price and Daryl Gurney in their heated World Matchplay encounter in the Winter Gardens on Monday. The darts duo are not the best of friends – security had to separate them after a Premier League match in Sheffield six years ago – and were involved in a heated exchange after Price's 10-7 first-round triumph when 'Super Chin' appeared to mock the Iceman's energetic victory celebrations, having earlier mouthed an apparent obscenity as he headed for a break in play. More Trending Price faces Chris Dobey in the second round and is 10/11 with William Hill, bet365, Betway Betfred and BoyleSports to win by over 2.5 legs while new kid on the block Josh Rock can take the scalp of three-time World Matchplay champion Michael van Gerwen at 8/13 with Hills. The eagerly awaited rematch between Jan Brueghel and Calandagan takes place at Ascot on Saturday in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes and the former horse, trained by Aidan O'Brien, can repeat his half-length victory when winning the Coronation Cup at Epsom at the start of June at 2/1 with William Hill. Mark O'Hara looking forward to seeing what Richard King can do at St Mirren
The Buddies captain played alongside the Jamaican international during Saturday's Premier Sports Cup romp at home to Annan Athletic. Mark O'Hara has taken Richard King under his wing — and says he is looking forward to seeing what the Jamaican international can bring to St Mirren. The Buddies skipper has made it his mission to ensure the 23-year-old is settling in well in Paisley. And after a stellar display in the 8-2 Premier Sports Cup win over Annan Athletic, it looks like O'Hara's warm welcome has allowed King to get off to a positive start. King, who arrived from Jamaican Premier League side Caverlier this summer on a two-year deal, has barely had time to take a break from football having played for the Reggae Boyz at the Concacaf Gold Cup in the United States. To help him get a feel for life in Scotland, O'Hara has made sure he feels part of the Saints family as well as showing the defender around on days off. He said: 'With Richard, outside of football, we need to show him about and stuff like that. You can take things like that for granted but he's come to completely new territory here. 'As a team, we like to go out for dinners. I've been out to show him around Glasgow because he's never done that before. We've got a really experienced group and there are a number of guys in there. 'They are made to feel a part of it right when they come in. The differences are funny sometimes and people need to appreciate for guys that it's a real culture shock coming here.' It is a big week for Stephen Robinson's men as progression in the Premier Sports Cup hinges on this Sunday's game against Scott Brown's Ayr United when they arrive at the SMiSA Stadium. Should the Honest Men beat Forfar Athletic tonight — and maintain their 100 per cent Group D record – it will leave Saints needing a win to be in with an opportunity of reaching the knockout stage. Confidence will be high, though, following the demolition of League Two part-timers Annan which featured a hat-trick from Mikael Mandron and a penalty strike by King on his home debut. O'Hara added: 'I'm looking forward to seeing him [King]. We haven't seen much because he's only just finished playing a long season. 'He looks really good on the ball and I'm sure he's going to be exciting for the fans. It's great that we can attract a player like that, a Jamaican international, here. 'They can be made to feel welcome and bed in seamlessly with a lot experience round about them and made to feel welcome — and it's not just me — others help players bed in, too.'
