Man allegedly attacks passenger on Delta flight from Atlanta to LA: 'Zero tolerance for unruly behavior'

Fox News19-03-2025
An investigation is underway after an unruly passenger allegedly attacked another passenger on a Delta Air Lines flight from Atlanta to Los Angeles, the Federal Aviation Administration confirmed.
The FAA told Fox News Digital that Delta Air Lines Flight 501 landed safely at Los Angeles International Airport around 11:45 a.m. on Monday, after the crew reported a passenger disturbance.
The agency said the Airbus A350 was traveling from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport when the incident occurred on board.
The FAA says it will run an investigation into the alleged assault.
A spokesperson for the airline shared a statement with Fox News Digital and confirmed that they were working with law enforcement authorities and have "zero tolerance" for this type of behavior.
"Delta has zero tolerance for unruly behavior and worked with law enforcement authorities on the investigation," a Delta Air Lines spokesperson shared in a statement.
Neither the airline nor the FAA shared what happened or if the passenger would face any criminal or civil penalties.
The Los Angeles Fire Department shared with KABC-TV that crew on board the flight stated that an adult male allegedly had to be restrained after biting one passenger and hitting others.
Officials added that an ambulance took the unruly passenger to the hospital for a psychological evaluation and later returned to examine a passenger he had injured, the outlet reported.
The FAA said that airlines have reported more than 1,800 unruly passenger incidents in 2024.
One of those incidents included an "unruly" passenger on board a flight from Cincinnati to Las Vegas, on December 23, that had to be diverted to Kansas City, where the passenger was removed.
So far, more than 300 of these types of incidents have been logged in 2025, according to the FAA's website.
"The FAA pursues legal enforcement action against any passenger who assaults, threatens, intimidates, or interferes with airline crewmembers, and can propose civil penalties up to $37,000 per violation," the agency said.

Cuomo campaign denies bombshell report about Trump's influence in the NYC mayoral race

Despite a report to the contrary, former Gov. Andrew Cuomo's mayoral campaign told Fox News Digital on Tuesday that they aren't expecting help from anyone in the race for Gracie Mansion, including former President Donald Trump, despite a report to the contrary. POLITICO's New York Playbook reported that Cuomo is "counting on" Trump to urge Republicans to vote for the former governor instead of the Republican nominee, Curtis Sliwa, in this November's mayoral election. According to audio obtained by the outlet, Cuomo told a Hamptons crowd on Saturday that Sliwa isn't a "serious candidate" and Trump himself would say, "you'll be wasting your vote on Sliwa." When reached for comment regarding the report, Cuomo's senior advisor, Rich Azzopardi, explained that Cuomo was responding to "what he heard to be a hypothetical about how it could become a two-person race and was speculating." Cuomo is New York City's "only chance" of defeating the Democratic mayoral nominee, Zohran Mamdani, the Cuomo campaign doubled down on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Sliwa has distanced himself from the president, maintaining that it wouldn't be helpful for Trump to intervene in New York City's mayoral race, after The New York Times' report that Trump has been speaking with Cuomo and his associates about how to defeat Mamdani in November. Trump and Cuomo have both denied the phone call ever happened, and the former governor said he wouldn't accept a Trump endorsement. The Republican nominee told Fox News Digital on Tuesday morning that Cuomo's campaign is "a mess," and said, "desperate people do desperate things." "It's just sad that Andrew Cuomo thinks a Trump headline will save him," Sliwa said in a statement. And Sliwa trolled Cuomo, arguing that "if he actually left the Hamptons," he would see the impact of his policies on New Yorkers," tying crime to his "disastrous no-bail law" and his controversial COVID-19 policies. Speaking to reporters at a campaign event in Manhattan on Monday, Cuomo confirmed that he attended the fundraiser at media mogul Jimmy Finkelstein's home in Southampton on Saturday. But Cuomo denied that during the fundraiser, he discussed Trump with former NYC City Council President, Andrew Stein, who co-hosted the event in the Hamptons. "Let's put it this way: I knew the president very well," Cuomo said in the Hamptons, according to POLITICO, before adding, "I believe there will be opportunities to actually cooperate with him. I also believe that he's not going to want to fight with me in New York if he can avoid it." The comments followed Mamdani's week-long anti-Trump tour across New York City's Five Boroughs. Day by day, the self-described Democratic socialist spotlighted how Trump's sweeping second-term agenda is impacting New Yorkers, as he worked to tie Cuomo to Trump. The Mamdani campaign seized on the latest reporting, releasing a statement on Tuesday morning, arguing that "Andrew Cuomo has been caught red-handed." "Since he's too afraid to say it to New Yorkers' faces, we'll make it clear: Andrew Cuomo is Donald Trump's choice for mayor," Mamdani campaign spokeswoman, Dora Pekec, said. Cuomo's campaign was quick to respond, calling it "silly." "Mamdani is clearly trying to deflect from answering questions" about his own record, including his support for decriminalizing prostitution, for which Cuomo held a press conference criticizing on Monday. Mamdani has said he would be Trump's "worst nightmare" if elected in November. Trump has repeatedly criticized Mamdani, calling him a "100% Communist Lunatic." The White House has dismissed the idea that Trump is planning to get involved in the race. "As President Trump has repeatedly stated, he has no intention of getting involved or making an endorsement in the New York City mayoral race," White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told Fox News Digital in a statement. Cuomo lost the Democratic primary to Mamdani in June but decided to stay in the race as an independent candidate. In the closing weeks ahead of New York City's Democratic Party mayoral primary, as he appeared to be cruising toward capturing his party's nomination, Cuomo focused his campaign's spotlight on Trump. "Trump's coming for New York. Who do you think can stop him?" the narrator in a Cuomo campaign ad said over images of the June rioting in Los Angeles sparked by Trump's immigration crackdown. "Trump's at the city gates. We need someone experienced to slam them shut," the narrator said, as he suggested that Cuomo was the most experienced candidate to push back against the president's agenda. Cuomo pledged, if elected mayor, to protect New York City from what he suggested could be a possible future federal crackdown against immigration protests in the city. And he vowed to mount a national campaign to try and thwart Trump's agenda. But Mamdani's stunning victory over Cuomo and nine other candidates last month to capture the Democratic Party nomination rocked the race for mayor in the nation's most populous city. And as Cuomo resets as he runs in the mayoral general election as an independent candidate, references to Trump have plummeted. Adams is also running as an independent candidate. Particularly on immigration, the incumbent mayor has developed a relationship with Trump. "I helped him out a little bit," Trump admitted last month, referencing his Justice Department dropping corruption charges against the mayor earlier this year.

Alleged Cincinnati attackers walk free after bond cuts, police hunt eighth suspect

Two suspects arrested in connection with the viral July 26 downtown Cincinnati beatdown have been released on bond, while police hunt for an eighth alleged perpetrator in the assault. The Hamilton County Prosecutor's Office confirmed to Fox News Digital that DeKyra Vernon, 24, and Aisha Devaughn, 25, were released from the Hamilton County Jail on Friday. In a Thursday arraignment, Vernon's bond was reduced from $250,000 to $25,000 at 10%. On the same day, Devaughn's bond was reduced from $300,000 to $25,000 at 10%. Both Vernon and Devaughn have been charged with three counts of alleged felonious assault, three counts of assault and two counts of aggravated rioting. Meanwhile, the Cincinnati Police Department (CPD) is asking for help locating an eighth suspect in connection with the downtown attack on July 26 that went viral due to its shocking level of violence. "Central Business Section is investigating a Felonious Assault offense that occurred on 4th Street and Elm on July 26, 2025," the department said on X. CPD did not say how the suspect was allegedly involved in the beating. Those who might have information on the suspect are asked to call CPD Det. Blank. The beatings took place in the early morning hours of July 26 on the corner of Fourth and Elm St., outside a local nightclub. Patrick Rosemond, 38, Jermaine Matthews, 39, Montanez Merriweather, 34 and Dominique Kittle, 37, are also each charged with three counts of alleged felonious assault, three counts of assault and two counts of aggravated rioting. Matthews' bond was set at $250,000, which he posted immediately after his arrest. The rest of the suspects remain in jail. Separately, Merriweather is facing a federal gun charge for illegally possessing a weapon as a felon. A seventh suspect, Gregory Wright, 32, was indicted on charges of aggravated riot and felony aggravated robbery after he allegedly "did by force rip the necklace off the victim while he was being assaulted by four or more co-defendants attempting to cause serious physical harm" during the violent beatdown, according to a criminal complaint. During an Aug. 1 news conference, Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval said everyone involved in the attack would be charged. "I agree with Pastor Lynch, that there is no doubt that this public safety challenge, that this incident will require further investigation, further charges and further arrests for every single person involved," he said. Reverend Damon Lynch, a community leader, had previously complained during the news conference that the victims, who are White, have not been charged. "But when I see the mugshots, I only see people who look like me," said Lynch, who is Black. "I don't see the person who re-engaged. And so until we see all the mugshots, this is still a racial issue."

Ex-officer sentenced following arrest for groping OnlyFans star in video while on duty

The former Nashville police officer seen groping an OnlyFans star's chest in a video filmed last year has been sentenced, and the star is reacting to the case that took more than a year to go through the legal system. Sean Herman, 35, entered a "best interest" plea in Nashville criminal court on Thursday for a felony official misconduct charge, according to the Associated Press, resulting in one year of supervised probation. A second charge was dismissed. Herman was fired from the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (MNPD) in May 2024, one day after detectives were made aware of the X-rated video, the department said in a news release. MNPD declined to comment on his sentencing to Fox News Digital. "I actually wrapped my Porsche GT3 in a 'metro flashing unit' to express my issue with their handling of this case," the woman, who goes by the name Jordin, told Fox News Digital. She claimed that prosecutors "pushed the case 4x because they couldn't find anything in discovery to validate their claims that Sean was doing this for 'monetary gain' purposes." Tennessee Man Charged For Allegedly Raping Unconscious Woman Outside Church Before She Died The video showed Jordin getting "pulled over" by Herman in what was supposed to look like a traffic stop, then exposing her chest and inviting Herman to touch her. Read On The Fox News App Jordin was then seen grabbing the officer's crotch over his pants. While the officer's face was not shown in the video, according to News Channel 5, a Metro Nashville Police Department patch could be spotted on the officer's shoulder. "That was one of the most outrageous, disrespectful acts that a person here could do and, by disrespectful, I mean to all the Mnpd employees and this agency," police spokesperson Don Aaron told the TV station. Two Arrested In Brutal Cincinnati Mob Attack; One Was Freed On Bail Despite Serious Charges The plea Herman made means he is not contesting the charges while maintaining factual innocence. He was granted judicial diversion, which means he could have the case dismissed and request that the charge be expunged from his record after successfully finishing probation under the judge's conditions.
