Man in critical condition after Winston-Salem hit-and-run on New Walkertown Road, police say
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WGHP) — Winston-Salem police are investigating a hit-and-run with reported injuries on Wednesday night.
The hit-and-run happened around 9:14 p.m. in the 2600 block of New Walkertown Road, according to a Winston-Salem Police Department news release.
The victim, a 54-year-old man, was riding his moped north on New Walkertown Road when the suspect vehicle, an older model blue Ford Escape, turned in front of him as they tried to enter a gas station.
The suspect vehicle left the scene before police arrived.
The victim was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
The investigation is ongoing.

According to the lawsuit, before the start of school, the plaintiffs 'presented the gift recipient with a gift intended as a joke consisting of handwritten notes on a birthday card, a bag of fried chicken, and various candy, which was received in the same spirit as a friendly gift by the recipient.' The lawsuit also claims that security camera footage of the incident shows 'the plaintiffs, the gift recipient, and other students laughing, hugging, and engaging in friendly behavior,' and that the entire encounter lasted '2-3 minutes.' A tipster reportedly captured video showing the boy 'harassing and harming' a goose and babies, and shared it with police, according to a Facebook post by Stow police.
