No no-fly zones during ASEAN Summit
KUALA LUMPUR: No no-fly zones for aircraft have been declared at the location of the ASEAN Summit at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) on May 26 and 27.
Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) Chief Executive Officer Datuk Captain Norazman Mahmud said that any existing restrictions or flight bans remain in force only in areas officially gazetted and announced through Aeronautical Information Publication (AIP) documents and Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs).
'All parties are advised to refer to these official sources to ensure compliance with current aviation regulations,' he said when contacted today.
He said that using drones in the vicinity of KLCC is also permitted throughout the summit.
Norazman said CAAM works closely with security agencies, including the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF), to monitor, manage, and coordinate flight activities in the interest of public safety and security.
'This collaboration is important not only in the context of airspace control, but also in ensuring that every flight operating in Malaysia complies with the stipulated safety regulations,' he said.

GENERAL PUTRAJAYA, June 5 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has expressed his heartfelt appreciation to all parties involved in the successful organisation of the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2025 (LIMA'25) and the 46th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits last month. Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil, who is also MADANI Government spokesperson, said Anwar conveyed the appreciation message during today's Cabinet meeting, describing both events as historic milestones for Malaysia. 'The Prime Minister deeply values the efforts of all personnel and teams involved in organising LIMA'25 in Langkawi, as well as the ASEAN Summit and Related Summits in Kuala Lumpur, at the end of May. 'Most heads of state and government leaders expressed their satisfaction with the warm hospitality and thorough preparations by Malaysia as the host,' Fahmi said at his weekly press conference. Fahmi said that the Prime Minister is currently considering appropriate forms of recognition to honour the dedication and commitment shown by all parties involved, with a formal announcement to be made in due course. 'Insya-Allah, several options are being considered, and we leave it to the Prime Minister to make the official announcement,' he said. LIMA'25 in Langkawi gathered 860 exhibitors from 24 countries, comprising 426 international and 434 local companies. Themed 'Today's Innovation, Tomorrow's Achievements', this year's edition was the largest maritime and aerospace exhibition in Southeast Asia since LIMA's inception in 1991. In Kuala Lumpur, apart from the 46th ASEAN Summit, two high-level meetings were also successfully held last month, namely the ASEAN-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit and the first ASEAN-GCC-China Summit.

Anwar congratulates S. Korea president on election win
KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has extended his warmest congratulations to Lee Jae-myung on his election as the president of South Korea. He said the victory marked a turning point for South Korea, a nation that had emerged from a period of intense contest and scrutiny with resilience and democratic resolve. 'The people have spoken for renewal of trust, of institutions and of national purpose. 'I welcome the opportunity to work with President Lee to deepen the friendship between our nations in trade and technology and in peace and security, as well as the enduring ties between our peoples,' Anwar said in a Facebook post yesterday. Malaysia–South Korea relations were elevated to a strategic partnership in November last year, a milestone reflecting shared ambitions. Anwar said Malaysia, as Chair of Asean for 2025, hoped the regional bloc would play a greater role in South Korea's regional outlook, Bernama reported. South Korea currently chairs the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec). 'As Chairs of Asean and Apec in 2025 respectively, Malaysia and South Korea are well placed to lead impactful regional initiatives. 'In a time of global flux, a deeper partnership between South-East Asia and South Korea will be indispensable to us all,' Anwar said. He also wished Lee wisdom and success in the journey ahead. He said he looked forward to meeting Lee in Kuala Lumpur this October for the Asean Summit and again in Gyeongju, South Korea, for the Apec Economic Leaders' Meeting later that month. Lee officially began his five-year term yesterday after the National Election Commission confirmed his victory during a plenary session. The liberal Democratic Party candidate won with 49.42% of the vote, defeating Kim Moon-soo of the conservative People Power Party, who garnered 41.15%.
