Shwetha Menon says assault survivor is ‘welcome' to return to AMMA: ‘Those who left AMMA should come back'
Actor Shwetha Menon has been elected as the first-ever female president of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA). In an interaction with Matrubhumi, Shwetha said that the survivor of the actress assault case, who was once part of the organisation, would be welcomed back if she made the decision to return. Shwetha Menon has been appointed as the new president of AMMA after Mohanlal's resignation. (Instagram: @robbin_fotografia) What Shwetha said Shwetha said, 'There are many issues that need to be resolved. We cannot remain stuck on just one point. She was once part of the organisation but chose to resign. If she returns, it would be welcome. But if you ask whether it's an urgent agenda item, it is not. I am not bringing in rules from my own household. There are specific rules and bylaws that apply to reinstating former members.' 'Those who left AMMA should come back' She went on to add, 'Those who left AMMA should come back. That's the wish of the majority of our members. Everyone wonders why they distanced themselves. Personally, I wish for their return. Maybe one meeting won't be enough — it might take ten or even a hundred meetings. I hope the executive committee and general body will support my personal mission. As the president, I will take the initiative.' However, Shwetha clarified that those who are facing allegations must step aside as it is a matter of 'social responsibility.' Last year in August, senior Malayalam actor Siddique resigned from the post of general secretary of the AMMA following rape and sexual assault allegations from a female actor. The allegations of sexual assault and rape were reiterated after the release of the Hema Committee Report, which she had first made in 2019 through a Facebook post. The alleged incident took place in a hotel in 2016. Following intense criticism, actor Mohanlal resigned from the position of President of AMMA in the same month.

Anupam Kher expresses gratitude to President Droupadi Murmu; says he felt ‘Honoured and Blessed' at Rashtrapati Bhavan ceremony
(Picture Courtesy: Facebook) Veteran actor-filmmaker Anupam Kher was among the dignitaries invited to the At Home ceremony, hosted by President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Independence Day. Sharing his happiness, Kher took to Instagram and posted pictures from the event. Expressing gratitude, he wrote: 'Thank you Hon. Rashtrapati #DraupadiMurmu ji for inviting me to #RashtrapatiBhavan for the #AtHome ceremony. I felt Honoured and Blessed! It was a very elegant and grand ceremony! And I also had the privilege of meeting so many other dignitaries from other walks of life and fields. Bahut Bahut dhanyawaad aur aabhaar. Jai Hind.' Check out the post here. View this post on Instagram A post shared by ColorsTV (@colorstv) From 'Tanvi The Great' to 'The Bengal Files' On the professional front, Anupam Kher was last seen in 'Tanvi The Great' which is a touching story about a 21-year-old woman on the autism spectrum who dreams of joining the Indian Army to fulfill her late father's wish. ETimes gave the film a rating of 4 stars and an excerpt from our review reads, "Ultimately, 'Tanvi: The Great' is less about autism or the army and more about human connection—how understanding can grow in silence, how dreams can be nurtured by love, and how change often begins with one person choosing to listen. It's a rare drama that sidesteps melodrama and chooses subtlety." His upcoming film is Vivek Agnihotri's 'The Bengal Files', where he will portray Mahatma Gandhi . Sharing his first look on Instagram, Kher wrote: 'Some roles change your thoughts, your habits, your inner self. Playing #GandhiJi is one such role. Sharing it with you all for the first time my character from @vivekagnihotri's #TheBengalFiles! No prosthetics was used here! Jai Hind (sic)!' Part of Vivek Agnihotri's 'Files' trilogy 'The Bengal Files' marks the third installment in Agnihotri's trilogy which is following 'The Tashkent Files' (2019) and the blockbuster 'The Kashmir Files' (2022). The upcoming film 'The Bengali Files' features an ensemble cast including Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi, Darshan Kumar, Puneet Issar, and Saswata Chatterjee. The movie is slated for release on September 5.

Chris Columbus denies making another Home Alone film: Cant recapture what we did 35 years ago
Los Angeles, Aug 16 (PTI) Filmmaker Chris Columbus might have created one of the most loved franchises with "Home Alone" films, but has no plans to return for another sequel and believes it should be left alone. Columbus' directorial "Home Alone" was released in 1990, featuring Macaulay Culkin in the lead role. The film revolved around Culkin's character Kevin, an eight-year-old who is left home alone while the entire family leaves for a vacation. "Home Alone" became a sensation at the box office, emerging as the highest-grossing film of 1990 in the USA. The film grossed over USD 476 million worldwide at the box office, against its budget of USD 18 million. It was followed by a sequel in 1992, titled "Home Alone 2: Lost in New York". In the recent interview, the lead actor mentioned the possibility of returning to the sequel if he was paid enough. But Columbus has made it clear that what was made 35 years back then shouldn't be touched again, as it can just turn out to be a mistake. "I think 'Home Alone' really exists as, not at this timepiece, but it was this very special moment, and you can't really recapture that," he told ET in an interview. "I think it's a mistake to try to go back and recapture something we did 35 years ago...I think it should be left alone," he added. Besides the two films starring Culkin, the franchise had other films with different child actors, including "Home Alone 3", which was released in 1997, "Home Alone 4" in 2002, "Home Alone: The Holiday Heist" in 2012, and "Home Sweet Home Alone" in 2021.
