Mikey Moore is here to help Rangers win
The highly-rated 17-year-old attacker joined the Ibrox outfit from Tottenham on a season-long loan on Friday morning. The move is subject to international clearance – which, due to his age, may take more time than usual – and he is unlikely to feature in the William Hill Premiership opener against Motherwell at Fir Park on Saturday. 😍 — Rangers Football Club (@RangersFC) August 1, 2025 Gers boss Martin, whose side won through to the Champions League third qualifier against Viktoria Plzen with a 3-1 aggregate win over Panathinaikos in Athens on Wednesday night, admits the development of players is key to his football philosophy but is adamant Moore is coming to Glasgow to make Rangers successful again. He said: 'It was a reason why I got a job at Swansea from MK Dons, for sure, developing young players, and then a big reason why I got a job at Southampton as well. 'We enjoy working with young players, enjoy playing a part in their development, and I think we can help Mikey, but most importantly he can help us win on the pitch. 'We're not here to just have other teams develop football players. We're here to win and he can help us do that. 'And if we can win when developing people and players as well, then that's the ultimate goal. 'It's a brilliant signing for the club. It'll be good for us and good for Spurs, hopefully to help his development. It'll be good for Mikey. 'So I think it's a really good move for everyone and I think he'll definitely add to us as a big option on the pitch and in the forward line. 'He can play in a few positions and he's a super-talented boy, so we're excited to have him. 'I think age is irrelevant really. If you're good enough, you're old enough and I certainly think he's good enough to impact games for us and help us win games of football. 'I'm really pleased and delighted that Spurs have allowed him to come here because a lot of people were interested in Mikey and he was desperate to come in. 'I said that we need people to be desperate to come here and play football and he was that.' Asked if the arrival of Moore may curtail the development of 19-year-old attacker Findlay Curtis, who had been a feature of the Gers squad so far this season, Martin said: 'No, no, I think the more options we have in the top line the better and Findlay's really versatile, as is Mikey. 'I don't think it stunts one of our own. I think it helps him playing with a really top player all the time and picking up and learning. 'Findlay is such a good learner, so I don't see it as being harmful to him at all.'

Joe Rothwell knows Rangers have a target on their backs as he plans to put on a show for those taking aim
Russell Martin starts life in the Scottish Premiership away to Motherwell on Saturday and Rothwell wants to make a statement Joe Rothwell says everyone wants to beat Russell Martin's new-look Rangers - but insists they're ready to get off to a Premiership flyer against Motherwell. The Ibrox midfielder has already helped the club navigate a difficult C hampions League qualifying tie against Panathinaikos. And now he's gearing up for their league opener at Fir Park on Saturday night. Rothwell expects it to be frantic in Lanarkshire with The Steelmen out to spoil Gers' Premiership start. But the 30-year-old - who arrived from Bournemouth this summer - is adamant that Martin's men can compete with Celtic for the title. Rothwell said: 'The need for a fast start in the league doesn't have to be emphasised to us. 'As players, we know it's massive. We want to get off to a winning start and we're ready to go. 'It's going to be fast and erratic at the start of the game but it's down to us to take control and build momentum as quickly as we can. 'Everyone is going to want to beat us so we want to put on a show. 'It's a result-based business and we're going there on Saturday to win. 'Ultimately, winning the title is what everyone wants to do. But we can't get ahead of ourselves. 'Winning breeds confidence so Saturday is huge for us. Hopefully we can go there and get the three points.' Rothwell admits it's been a shock to the system, coming to Ibrox from English football. There was huge pressure on the Panathinaikos tie, with Rangers now facing Czech outfit Viktoria Plzen as they attempt to reach the Champions League group phase. But Rothwell says that's why he joined the club. He said: 'We're trying to implement a new style here and we're doing it with less training because there are so many games. 'So to come through the European tie and get the result we wanted was massive. 'It's a bit strange playing European games before the actual season has started. 'But it has given us a chance to put things we've worked on into practice. 'I said when I arrived that European football was a massive pull for me and we've now given ourselves a chance to get to the Champions League, which is what we want. 'We're guaranteed group stage football now which is great for us.' Rothwell is used to playing for a big club having helped Leeds United win the Championship in England last term. He's loved playing in front of the Rangers support so far and hopes his experience of winning at Elland Road can help him at Ibrox. He said: 'The fans are going to be key for us all season. We could hear them up in the stands in Athens the other night. 'It's another away game on Saturday so I'm sure they'll be loud there too. 'Both Rangers and Leeds are massive clubs but obviously playing European games here is different to being in the Championship. 'Last season was a great experience for me and it was part of the manager's reasoning for getting me here.'

Rangers see Viktoria Plzen threat to Champions League status reduced as deal 'struck' to sell star man
It's unlikely Russell Martin will have to plan for Plzen's Pavel Sulc with a deal for him to join Lyon 'agreed' There will be one less Viktoria Plzen threat for Rangers to worry about with the Czech side reportedly agreeing to sell their star man to Lyon. Pavel Sulc scored 20 goals for Miroslav Koubek's side last season while laying on another 15 for his teammates. However, Fabrizio Romano claims a deal worth up to €10m has been struck that will see Sulc sold to the Ligue 1 outfit. It's expected that the 24-year-old Czech midfielder will depart before Russell Martin 's side face Plzen in their Champions League third qualifying round showdown. Gers booked their spot with a 3-1 aggregate win over Panathinaikos thanks to Wednesday night's 1-1 draw in Athens. They welcome the Czech's to Ibrox next Tuesday before heading to Plzen for the return leg a week later. And their skipper, former Derby County and Watford star Matej Vydra, reckons the pressure is all on the Scottish club, especially with a Europa League safety net for him and his teammates. "We'll go there to Rangers and give it a go against them for sure. "It's really great that we're already assured of the Europa League now and we don't have to think about what will happen if we get knocked out. Game On - Rangers' Champions League chances | Celtic's transfer activity | Premiership surprises "We know that the certainty of the group stages is in our hands and we can be a little more relaxed because the pressure is off. "That could help us. "I'm incredibly proud of this team. "We were down twice against Servette – after losing the first leg and then going 1-0 down in Switzerland, so to recover from that shows what we can do. "The joy in the dressing room after the match was unbelievable, I've probably never experienced anything like it here."
