Hate crime in Ireland: Mother Irish citizen, 6-year-old girl assaulted by boys, told to 'go back to India'

In a disturbing incident in Ireland, a six-year-old girl of Indian origin was reportedly assaulted by a group of boys who hurled racist abuse at her, telling her to 'go back to India'. The girl's mother, an Irish citizen and nurse who has lived in the country for eight years, said the family now feels unsafe.
Speaking to The Irish Mirror, the mother said the attack happened outside their home when she briefly went inside to feed her 10-month-old son. 'It was around 7:30 pm and she was playing inside the house. She wanted to play outside and go cycling. I let her outside for a few seconds,' she recalled.

Soon after, the girl was allegedly attacked by a group of boys aged between 12 and 14. One of her friends told the mother that the boys hit her on her private parts with a bicycle and punched her in the face. 'One of the boys pushed the bicycle wheel onto her private parts and it was really sore. They said the F word and 'Dirty Indian, go back to India'. She told me today they punched her neck and twisted her hair,' the friend said.
The mother, visibly shaken, said her daughter had been happy after moving into the house until the assault on Monday. 'I feel so sad for her. I could not protect her. I never expected that such an incident would happen. I thought she would be safe here,' she said.
She added that after the incident, she saw the gang of boys staring and laughing at her. The matter has been reported to Gardaí (Irish police), but the mother said she is not seeking punishment for the boys. Instead, she hopes they are given counselling.

Arrest at Changi Airport The police, as cited by The Straits Times, said, 'After the aircraft landed at Changi Airport, the man was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for his actions to officers from Airport Police Division and was subsequently arrested before he could depart for his next scheduled flight.' If convicted of theft, the accused could face up to three years in prison, a fine, or both. According to the SPF, the man took bags, cosmetics and perfumes from multiple outlets before casually boarding his flight. He was arrested on June 1 upon returning to Singapore.

The 27-year-old Indian national and jewellery shop owner said that he was walking on Soi Beach Road 13/2 when two 'ladyboys' approached him. Kumer said the scantily-clad layboys offered escort services, which he refused. He claims that the duo continued to follow him despite his refusal. 'They began touching me and hugging me,' Kumer said. The Indian man managed to get rid of the layboys – as the transgenders are colloquially known – and continued with his walk. Within a few minutes, however, he realised that his gold necklace was missing. Kumer claims the gold necklace weighed 40 grams and was worth 150,000 baht (INR 4 lakh approximately). What police say on the theft Kumer approached Pattaya City Police Station around 2.30 am on August 5 and reported the theft to Police Lieutenant Kriangkrai Kaewphiphop. Based on his description of the alleged thieves, officers were dispatched to scour the area. However, no arrests were made and the suspects were not caught. The superintendent of Pattaya City Police Station also ordered a review of CCTV footage from the area. However, police officers say there are inconsistencies in Kumer's version of events. 'There are inconsistencies in his statement,' said Pol. Lt. Kriangkrai. 'We're investigating all angles. If the report turns out to be false, Kumer could face charges for filing a false complaint.'
