Police said they will be seeking to file terrorism charges against him as well as 11 counts of assault with intent to murder.
Gille, from Afton, allegedly arrived at the store and started randomly slashing and stabbing at shoppers using a pocket knife.
It was the life-saving and heroic actions of bystanders that helped quickly get him into police custody, authorities said.
"I cannot commend everyone that was involved enough," Grand Traverse County Sheriff Michael Shea said.

"When you stop and look from the time of call to the time of actual custody, the individual was detained within one minute.
"That is remarkable. When you look at it in that mitigated Lord knows how many additional victims."
Further information has been released about those injured in the attack who are being treated at the Munson Medical Center.
Shea said that they were a mix of men and women ranging from the ages of 21 and 84.

The attack began near the checkout counter with people being targeted at random - victims were "not predetermined" Shea said.
From the hospital, Chief Medical Officer Dr Tom Schermerhorn told reporters that the majority of victims are in a fair condition.
One was treated and has already been released and two are in a serious condition, he said.

"Over the past 12 hours, we've seen encouraging signs of recovery among our patients," the hospital said in an update.
'SLASHED AT THROATS'
Meanwhile, eyewitnesses have described how the horror unfolded.
Delivery driver Steven Carter was loading his truck with customer groceries in the parking lot when he saw a man slash at a woman's throat with a knife.
'At first, it was disbelief. I thought maybe it was like a terror attack,' he said.

"And then it was dear, disbelief, shock."
He called the response of bystanders "amazing" saying that the attacker was soon surrounded by a group of heroic shoppers.

Around six people including one armed with a gun confronted the man telling him to "drop the knife," Carter recalled.
He told them "I don't care, I don't care," while backing away from the group until he was tackled to the ground.
"It was just amazing. And it all happened fast. Like he was totally subdued on the ground by the time police arrived," Carter said.
Tiffany DeFell, 36, who was also in the parking lot at the time of the attack said, "It was really scary. Me and my sister were just freaking out."

"This is something you see out of the movies. It's not what you expect to see where you're living."
No motive for the attack has been given as the investigation continues.
The authorities have told the public they believe the suspect acted alone and there is no further danger.
Meanwhile, Walmart has given no update on when the store will reopen but has called such violence "unacceptable".

"Our thoughts are with those who were injured and we're thankful for the swift action of first responders," a spokesperson said in a statement.
"We'll continue working closely with law enforcement during their investigation."

Showjumper and horse rider GUILTY of forcing underage girl into sex with them before hatching ‘pact of silence'

Twisted paedo called himself 'daddy' in vile messages to girl SICK CRIME Showjumper and horse rider GUILTY of forcing underage girl into sex with them before hatching 'pact of silence' A SHOWJUMPER and horse rider have been found guilty of forcing an underage girl into having sex with them. Guy Simmonds, 37, and Lauren Jarvis, 26, targeted the girl despite knowing she was under 16. Advertisement 3 Lauren Jarvis had a so-called threesome with a teenage girl Credit: WNS 3 She and Guy Simmonds knew how old the teen was but still targeted her Credit: WNS Equestrian boss Simmonds called himself "daddy" in messages to the youngster as he plotted the illicit encounter. He and Jarvis then hatched a "pact of silence" when they got wind that the girl was talking about it. The pair were today convicted of sexual activity with a child following a trial. Simmonds was found not guilty on five other charges of sexual activity with a child relating to the same victim. Advertisement Cardiff Crown Court heard Simmonds bragged he was a "top showjumper" after targeting the underage girl on Facebook. Prosecutor James Hartson said there was a "clear element of grooming behaviour" from Simmonds, who had "no doubt at all" about the girl's age. He added: "At all times he knew how old she was and so did Jarvis. The victim told him herself in one of the very first messages she sent him. "The defendants didn't care about her age when they were planning and engaging in a so-called threesome with the victim. Advertisement "They also knew what they did was wrong and they agreed a pact of silence when they got wind she had started to talk about it." In January 2024, he messaged fellow rider Jarvis to organise the encounter at her home - asking when he should "pop over". Simmonds then text the girl to inform her of the plan, telling her: "You will both do what daddy says." The girl told the court Simmonds got her and Jarvis to "do stuff" with each other before he had sex with both of them. Advertisement Simmonds then messaged Jarvis after the encounter to say: "You both loved that haha". Jarvis replied: "Yeah, you missed round two" with a wink emoji. The pair then cooked up their vow of silence in a twisted bid to cover their crime. Simmonds text Jarvis, saying: "Hey, I have a feeling that [name of alleged victim] has said about us. Advertisement "If anyone asks for sake of both of us nothing ever happened that night xx." Jarvis replied: "Hey, who's she told? Oh god has she really, what's she trying to do, make our lives hell? Of course I will xx." Simmonds ran a riding school that offered "showjumping horse production and sales, coaching and schooling" in the village of Undy in Wales. The alarm was raised when the girl told her dad what had happened and he alerted police. Advertisement But Simmonds told police he did not have any form of sexual contact with the victim. He also claimed any messages about the encounter with Jarvis were "banter and a wind up." Judge Lucy Crowther adjourned the case for sentencing on September 29. 3 Jarvis entered into a 'pact of silence' with Simmonds Credit: WNS

Boy, 14, died in ‘terror' after dad crashed on motorway while high on cocaine & advised by medics not to drive

DEATH SMASH Boy, 14, died in 'terror' after dad crashed on motorway while high on cocaine & advised by medics not to drive A TEEN boy died "in terror" after his dad crashed on a motorway while high on cocaine. Daniel Burba, 31, has been advised by doctors not to drive when got behind the wheel of his wife's van with 14-year-old Ryan Morgan in the passenger seat. 3 Ryan Morgan was killed in the horror crash Credit: PA The dad had been diagnosed with epilepsy just weeks before the horror which was made worse by the use of illegal drugs. Despite this, Burba was four-times the limit for cocaine and its derivative benzoylecgonine - causing him to suffer an epileptic fit. Ryan had no choice but to try to gain control of the van before it swerved off the M6 near Lancaster and hit a tree. The teen was tragically pronounced dead at the scene after suffering head injuries. Burba, who also only had a provisional licence, was taken to hospital with "relatively minor" injuries. While being treated, a paramedic discovered a small bag of cocaine in the dad's wallet. Burba has now been jailed for ten years after he pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving and driving without a licence or insurance. In a victim impact statement, Ryan's mum said her heart has been broken and told how she has been unable to grieve properly because she fears once she starts, she won't be able to stop. She continued: 'I feel that no amount of time Daniel will serve will ever be enough for taking Ryan's life. Not only did he take my boy's life, he took my boy's future. "My boy will never grow and be a father, go to work and follow his dreams or travel. He didn't even get to finish school. He hasn't ever had a chance to experience life. "It's so unfair because Ryan did have a beautiful heart. He wanted to be a policeman. He would have changed the world. He made it a better place in the short time he was here. He made everyone smile who came into contact with him. He had a smile that lit up the room. 'Daniel has taken all that and more. Daniel has taken a precious son, brother, grandson, nephew, friend and cousin. He had so much to live for. "The fact that Daniel knew he wasn't allowed to drive due to his seizures, plus a lack of licence and insurance is just disgusting.' Preston Crown Court heard the horror unfolded on April 20 as other motorists noticed Burba driving erratically with his hazards on. He reached speeds of more than 70mph before leaving the carriageway and smashing into a tree. The court heard the Peugeot Bipper van flipped over due to the force it hit the tree. Police later discovered Burba had been told in October 2014 by his doctor to stop taking cocaine after he suffered a seizure which lasted up to four minutes. He was also advised not to drive, with the same warning issued in February when he was admitted to hospital after more fits. Sentencing, Judge Robert Altham, the Honorary Recorder of Preston, told him: 'You knew that cocaine predisposed you to further fits. "You were not entitled to drive unsupervised and certainly not on the motorway. You should not have behind the wheel at all." As well as the jail sentence, Judge Altham disqualified Burba from driving for 14 years and five months. Sgt Martin Wilcock, Senior Investigating Officer at our Road Policing Unit, said: 'No sentence will ever make up for any loss of life, particularly in these tragic circumstances. However, Daniel Burba will have the rest of his life to reflect upon the catastrophic consequences his decision to consume drugs and then get behind the wheel have had. Sadly, his son will not. 'I hope the outcome of this case sends a strong message out to anyone who is considering driving, having been told by a doctor not to. Or anyone who is considering driving, having consumed drugs or alcohol. 'As is so very obvious from this case, you run the risk of taking a life but also ruining many others – including your own.' 3 Daniel Burba has been jailed for ten years Credit: PA
