Yahoo19-05-2025

Nessa Barrett is set to return to Australia in December for her biggest headline shows to date, building on a breakout global run that's seen her grow from rising star to certified pop contender.
The Aftercare artist will perform three major headline dates, starting Dec. 9 at Melbourne's Margaret Court Arena, followed by Sydney's Hordern Pavilion on Dec. 10 and Brisbane's Fortitude Music Hall on Dec. 16. The run complements her previously announced appearances at all four dates of the 2025 Spilt Milk Festival, where she joins a lineup that includes Kendrick Lamar, Doechii, Dominic Fike, Sombr and more.

The new shows follow Barrett's sold-out Australian debut in 2023 on her Church Club for the Lonely Tour, which formed part of her first global tour. That trek spanned 60 dates and saw the singer perform to over 83,000 fans across North America, Europe, and Australasia, as well as appearances at major festivals such as ACL Main Stage, Reading & Leeds, and Pukkelpop.
Barrett's second studio album Aftercare, released in late 2024, introduced a more refined electro-pop direction while retaining the confessional songwriting that built her initial fanbase. The record includes singles 'PASSENGER PRINCESS' and 'MUSTANG BABY,' a collaboration with breakout U.K. artist Artemas.
With more than 2 billion global streams, Barrett has quickly carved out her space in a new class of Gen Z artists balancing streaming success with live impact. Her debut album Young Forever helped solidify her early buzz and featured viral singles like 'i hope ur miserable until ur dead' and 'la di die' with jxdn and Travis Barker.
Barrett was named to Billboard's 21 Under 21 list in 2024, earned a slot on Billboard's Emerging Artists chart and made her debut on the Billboard 200 with Young Forever in 2022.
Tickets for the AFTERCARE Australian tour go on sale Friday, May 23 at 1 p.m. local time, with a Frontier Members presale beginning Wednesday, May 21 at 12 p.m.

The worldwide total through today is $610.8M. The international total on the Tom Cruise-starrer is now $231.2M, and global is $353.8M. Before we dig into details on the above, note that Sony's Karate Kid: Legends, which kicked off international rollout in early May ahead of its wide global release this weekend, kicked up another $12M from 43 offshore markets this session. That takes the international cume to $26M through Sunday. Alongside domestic, the global gross to date is $47M. Major markets to come on this one are: Australia (June 5), Italy (June 5), China (June 7), Spain (August 8), France (August 13) and Japan (August 29). Now, turning back to Lilo & Mission… Disney's live-action take on the 2002 animated adventure has already become the No. 2 studio release of the year internationally, and is the No. 1 non-local title across Europe (except for Denmark and Finland), and in all markets across Latin America as well as Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Philippines and Thailand. Notable holds this frame include France (0%), Germany (-12%), UK (-28%), Australia (-29%), Brazil (-34%), Spain (-36%), Mexico (-40%), Korea (-44%) and Italy (-46%). Some markets saw increases, including Netherlands (+21%), Belgium (+13%), Saudi Arabia (+8%), Poland (+7%), Singapore (+3%) and Ukraine (+1%). New this session was Hong Kong ($1.1M), where the little blue alien opened at No. 1 and 4% ahead of The Minecraft Movie. Among other benchmarks, L&S is notably the 2nd highest grossing Disney live-action title of all-time across the Latin American region (behind only The Lion King); the 2nd highest grossing Disney live-action title ever in Mexico, 3rd highest in Colombia and 4th highest in Brazil. Further, it is the highest grossing film of 2025 in Italy (non-local), Brazil, Mexico and Thailand. The Top 5 to date are: Mexico ($45.9M), UK ($34.5M), France ($23.1M), Brazil ($21.6M) and Germany ($18.1M). Japan opens next weekend. As for Mission 8, audiences continued to accept. Notable strong holds were seen in Netherlands (-4%), Germany (-10%), France (-21%), Indonesia (-21%) and Japan (-23%). Also notably, China debuted this frame. This is a market that typically gravitates towards the franchise, but has been wonky of late with Hollywood fare. So, great news that The Final Reckoning became the highest-grossing imported film on a single day this year, and the fastest imported film to reach the RMB 100M mark in 2025. The gross there is a strong $25.2M while social scores are the highest of the franchise. The Top 5 markets to date are: China ($25.2M), UK ($22.3M), Japan ($18.5M), Korea ($17M) and France ($14.2M). Elsewhere, New Line/Warner Bros' Final Destination Bloodlines landed with another $14.4M from 75 offshore markets, a strong 37% drop from last weekend. Pat Cummins comes clean after hilarious fail with Jeremy Clarkson before WTC final

Pat Cummins has had to out-think some of the world's greatest cricketers enroute to 294 Test wickets – but he's met his match in the form of a manual farm vehicle. Ahead of the World Test Championship against South Africa at Lord's, starting Wednesday, the Australia captain visited Didley Squat, the farm made famous by Jeremy Clarkson's popular Prime Video Series Clarkson's Farm. Cummins – a Prime Video ambassador - played cricket against Clarkson and co-stars Kaleb Cooper and Charlie Ireland, sampled the homegrown Hawkstone Lager and was brought up to speed with the farm's project to grow willow trees to turn into cricket bats. The Aussie skipper, who owns a farm in the Southern Highlands of NSW, looked right at home until he was asked to park a manual tractor. "It was great. I'm a big fan of Clarkson's Farm on Prime Video, so it was great to go out for a visit and have Jeremy show me the farm and play a little cricket and tried their beer," Cummins told Yahoo Australia. "It's a beautiful part of the country and great to see in person. "It all went well until they put us on this dolly trailer, which is this notoriously hard kind of trailer to try and park. I tried it for 10 minutes and just gave up. I thought I'm never getting this thing in, so I'm not even going to bother trying. "The life of a farmer is just as chaotic as you see on the show, and I was very impressed with Charlie's idea to grow English cricket bat willow. Thanks to Jeremy and the team for hosting me.' Clarkson has previously discussed his dislike for cricket but is slowly coming around after realising he can make a dollar from it. The show's star said: 'I've never been a fan of cricket. I always had too much hay fever to know what was going on, but at least now I've found a way to make some money out of it. We enjoyed showing Pat around Diddly Squat Farm." Prime Video is the first-stop entertainment destination covering Amazon original content like Clarkson's Farm, ICC Cricket and NBA. The World Test Championship final (July 11-15) will be shown on Prime Video from 7.30pm (AEST).

Playboi Carti Pays Homage To Lil Wayne In 2025 BET Awards Performance

Playboi Carti is in the thick of his superstar turn, so the 2025 BET Awards caught him at the perfect time. The Atlanta rapper paid homage to Lil Wayne in his energetic performance. Carti opened his performance with 'Like Weezy' and dressed for the occasion with a baggy hooded sweatshirt, sagging jeans, a fitted hat, and shades, much like Wayne would sport in 2006. He was flanked by two luxury vehicles and his hypemen. After 'Like Weezy' finished, he transitioned to his popular cut 'Rather Lie' featuring The Weeknd. A gospel chorus replaced Abel on the hook, making the performance feel more spiritual in that live setting. Though short, the performance put a bow on what has been a huge year for the enigmatic artist. The two records he delivered came from his March 2025 album MUSIC, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart and sold 298,000 album-equivalent units in its first week. The album featured Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd, Travis Scott, Future, Young Thug, Jhene Aiko, Skepta, and more. Check out his 2025 BET Awards performance below. Playboi Carti's appearance at the 2025 BET Awards comes amid his opening slot on the After Hours Til Dawn tour with The Weeknd. They have hit cities such as Glendale, Detroit, Chicago, and East Rutherford so far and have Denver, Seattle, Toronto, Atlanta, and Houston left on their road trip, which continues up to September. Carti also had three nominations on the evening: two in the Video Of The Year category for The Weeknd's 'Timeless' and 'Type Sh*t' with Future, Metro Boomin, and Travis Scott, plus a Best Collaboration nomination for 'Timeless.' His performance comes months after he joined Weeknd for his return performance at the Grammys, where they delivered the 2024 hit. Needless to say, this dynamic duo is on fire both individually and together in 2025.
