Business Wire31-07-2025
LINCOLN, Neb.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- GolfStatus, Dormie Network, and Dormie Network Foundation are proud to announce the return of Play It Forward, a campaign that shines a spotlight on deserving nonprofit organizations that are using the power of golf to drive meaningful impact and further their missions. Through this annual campaign, one outstanding charity golf event will receive a $10,000 donation in 2025.
From August 1 to September 30, supporters are encouraged to nominate a charity golf tournament they love. Anyone can submit a nomination, including event organizers, participants, sponsors, volunteers, or supporters. Nominators are asked to provide a clear, detailed and compelling description of why they are nominating the charity golf event, what they're raising money for and why they should receive the $10,000 donation. This information will be reviewed by the selection committee and used to determine the winner.
At the end of the nomination period, one deserving golf fundraiser will be selected to receive the $10,000 donation. The person who submitted the winning nomination will receive a Dormie Network Stay and Play Package, which includes a two-day, one-night golf getaway at one of its premier private destination clubs.
'Over the past few years, the Play It Forward campaign has successfully recognized everyday heroes, utilizing the game of golf to create a true impact on their communities,' says Brian Schenk, Chief Philanthropy Officer at Dormie Network Foundation. After 'F1' sponsorship, SharkNinja brings its two main brands together online

Barrocas says he got a number of texts from people who were surprised to see his company up on the big screen, and so frequently throughout the movie. Advertisement 'It was the first time that we've come out in a big way and marketed 'SharkNinja,'' Barrocas said in an interview. 'It's going to be a great lead in for us as we relaunch our website.' Barrocas declined to say how much the company paid to sponsor the fictional team, but the return, he said, has been equal to at least six times that investment. With the website, he hopes to encourage repeat buyers to try other SharkNinja products, and to tell the 'SharkNinja story.' (SharkNinja replaced the previous corporate name, Euro-Pro, in 2015, but the company continued to focus on promoting specific product lines as opposed to the overall business.) 'Now that the SharkNinja company has gained so much awareness, we really want consumers to understand that this company is the maker of these two great brands,' Barrocas said. Advertisement Not just consumers, but also potential employees. Building awareness around the publicly traded corporate parent could help with recruiting: A spokesperson says there are around 100 open positions at the Needham headquarters, where about 1,000 people work today. On the earnings call, analyst Randal Konik at investment bank Jefferies & Co. asked Barrocas about where the CEO takes the SharkNinja brand from here. Barrocas responded by saying every Formula One team has approached SharkNinja about sponsorship opportunities, indicating real life may end up imitating art in this case. 'The consumer is starting to recognize there's this great company behind these two great brands,' Barrocas told Konik. 'We need to take it in stages [but] I think there will be more and more opportunities for us to market the SharkNinja business and not just the Shark or Ninja brands.' Gas price expert says 'enjoy the summer timeout while you can afford to'

Gas prices drifted lower this week on average at pump stations across Canada. According to data from Kalibrate, the national average price fell 1.6 cents per litre of regular fuel to $1.452. At this time last year, this price was $1.663. Roger McKnight, chief petroleum analyst at Oshawa, Ont.-based En-Pro International, says drivers ought to take advantage of the unusual price action at peak driving season. "Enjoy the summer timeout, while you can afford to," he wrote in a blog post on Thursday. He says the discount is due in part to commodity traders turning their attention from gasoline to diesel. "The focus now is on the astonishingly high refining profit margins being earned on diesel that currently sits at US$20/barrel. These high margins are a result of record exports at the expense of lower U.S. domestic inventories," McKnight wrote. "The good news for refiners is that OPEC+ will increase production again in September, which will lower their crude costs and increase their profit margins. That's not such good news for the consumer as U.S. distillate inventories will remain well below the five-year average as we enter the fall and winter seasons. When this happens, diesel prices will spike and drag up gasoline pump prices as well." This week, the biggest price drop in Canada was in Mississauga, Ont., at 6.6 cents per litre. The largest price gain was in Chicoutimi, Que., at 6.6 cents per litre. Follow Yahoo Finance Canada for more weekly gas price updates. Scroll below to find your nearest city. Donald Trump Announces Major Change to 'Frivolous Grants'

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Thursday to tighten oversight of "frivolous" federal grant funding, a move the White House said would ensure that taxpayer dollars served "the American public" and aligned with the administration's priorities. Why It Matters The Trump administration has clashed with a range of institutions and programs over issues such as pro-Palestinian campus protests against Israel's war in Gaza, climate change initiatives, transgender policies, and diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs. Since taking office in January, the Trump administration has terminated numerous contracts and grants, with the Department of Government Efficiency highlighting thousands grant terminations at agencies on its website. A federal grant is money the U.S. government awards to organizations, institutions or individuals to fund projects that serve a public purpose, such as research, education, health or infrastructure. Grants are not loans and do not require repayment if used as intended. What To Know Under the order, future grant award decisions would be subject to heightened scrutiny from both political appointees and subject matter experts. According to a White House fact sheet published on Thursday, the new review process will verify that each funding opportunity or award "benefits Americans instead of lining grantees' pocketbooks or furthering causes that damage America." The new rules also permit agencies to terminate grants that fail to meet these standards, including cases where recipients use funds in ways deemed inconsistent with the order's policy objectives. President Donald Trump speaks with the media at Trump Turnberry golf club in Turnberry, Scotland, on July 28. President Donald Trump speaks with the media at Trump Turnberry golf club in Turnberry, Scotland, on July 28. GETTY Agencies would now be required to simplify grant announcements using plain language and broaden the pool of recipients beyond the universities and nonprofits that have traditionally dominated the process. The administration said the changes were intended to avoid duplication across agencies and encourage a wider array of "meritorious" applicants. Past federal grants have funded a wide range of initiatives. The administration cited several examples—including funding for "drag shows in Ecuador"; an "unsafe lab in Wuhan, China"; and the development of "transgender-sexual-education programs." The administration also cited a 2024 study indicating that more than a quarter of new National Science Foundation grants that year were allocated to DEI initiatives, which it said reflected an ideological bias in funding decisions. What People Are Saying A White House fact sheet published on August 7 said: "The Trump Administration has already terminated many wasteful grants. Today's Executive Order helps ensure that bureaucrats can't make the same mistakes in the future." White House spokesperson Harrison Fields said: "President Trump is ensuring that all taxpayer-funded projects benefit Americans, and the entire administration is committed to ending wasteful grants. The days of unaccountable bureaucrats wasting taxpayer dollars on drag shows in Ecuador and other far-left initiatives are over. Today's executive action restores merit-based grantmaking and will save billions for the American people."
