Prince William and Kate Middleton Made Secret Pact in Seychelles

Cosmopolitan8 hours ago

Time for a quick lore check on Prince William and Kate Middleton. In the event that you aren't an expert on their relationship history, these two actually broke up ahead of their engagement. And upon getting back together, they took a romantic trip to the Seychelles where they made a secret pact.
According to the Daily Mail, who dusted off royal author Katie Nicholl's reporting in her book The Making of a Royal Romance, Wills and Kate checked in at a five star resort under the names "Martin and Rosemary Middleton," and then Prince William made Kate a promise.
"With a population of just 50 and three miles long, the paradise island was the perfect escape," Katie wrote, adding that "both of them knew that at some point they had to discuss the future. For a young man who has an inherent fear of tomorrow this was not easy for William, but the tranquil backdrop of the island was as good place as any to discuss it."
In other words, this was the first time they seriously chatted about getting married, and "William assured Kate she was the one. William, who had inherited something of his father's fear of commitment, knew he would lose Kate if he could not give her some form of guarantee."
Nicholl also spoke to an insider who confirmed, "They didn't agree to get married there and then; what they made was a pact. William told Kate she was the one, but he was not ready to get married. He promised her his commitment and said he would not let her down, and in turn she agreed to wait for him."
The rest is royal history!

The Duke of Sussex made a surprise appearance at the 2025 Nexus Global Summit in New York where he spoke about the aim of the couple's Archewell Foundation to foster community and combat social isolation, both online and offline, the Daily Mail reported. 'One of the reasons why the digital world was so important to us is because my wife, in 2018, was the most trolled person in the world,' Harry said. 'There was a lived experience, but at no point did we suddenly think, 'OK, well, let's take this industry on.'' Harry detailed how after speaking to a experts, 'it became very clear to us very quickly… that for all the work we are collectively doing, and all the progress we are achieving, if the digital world is not done responsibly, it's going to turn back that progress.' But what was able to be manufactured and churned out, it's almost unsurvivable, it's so big you can't even think what that feels like.' And during their tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey the following year, Meghan revealed how negative headlines prompted her to contemplate suicide. 'I just didn't want to be alive anymore,' she shared, explaining that she 'didn't see a solution.' Meghan added: 'I would sit up at night, and I was just like, 'I don't understand how all of this is being churned out.'' Kate Middleton's Best Wimbledon Looks Ahead of Her 2025 Appearances

Kate Middleton has had some of her best fashion moments at Wimbledon. As patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club since 2016, the Princess of Wales has made her love of tennis known by attending the annual event year after year. She often saves her brightest, boldest colors for the tennis tournament, standing out sartorially in the Royal Box. British labels like Emilia Wickstead and Roksanda are among her favorites for the occasion along with fashion-favorite Alessandra Rich. Her polka dot selections from the London-based Italian designer remain among the royal's most striking dresses. What is equally exciting about Kate at Wimbledon is her reactions.
