DFA lowers security alert for Pinoys in Iran
Level 2 or Restriction Phase takes effect immediately, the DFA said.
Manila enforced Alert Level 3, offering voluntary repatriation for Filipinos, last month due to alarming exchange of missile attacks between Iran and its long-time enemy Israel. Deployment of workers and unnecessary travel were likewise suspended.
Despite the lowering of the alert level, the Philippine Embassy in Tehran will continue facilitating the voluntary repatriation of Filipinos, the DFA said.
"The Department will closely monitor the situation in the region and will update the alert levels, as necessary," it added.
Israel began attacking Iran last June 13, saying the country was on the verge of developing nuclear weapons. Iran, which retaliated with missile and drone strikes against Israel, denied the accusation, noting its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes as a party to the international Non-Proliferation Treaty.
After a week of hostilities, US bombed Iran's key nuclear facilities—Natanz, Isfahan and Fordow—and called the strikes a "spectacular military success."
A ceasefire was declared on June 24, but the Philippines, which has more than a million Filipino workers in the Middle East, called for continued deescalation of tensions and urged concerned parties to pursue diplomacy.
Around 30,000 mostly Filipino caregivers are based in Israel and over 1,100 in Iran. — VDV, GMA Integrated News

To recall, Marcos had ordered an investigation into the operations of PrimeWater Infrastructure Corp. due to numerous service-related complaints. According to Malacañang, the Marcos administration does not tolerate insufficiency of services, noting that the needs of the public must always be provided. PrimeWater Infrastructure Corp. is owned by the Villar family. For its part, the water service provider had vowed to be open to any meaningful dialogue that will resolve concerns as it also affirmed it is committed to cooperating with LWUA. LWUA had also submitted its report to the Office of the President as regards its investigation into the operations of water service provider PrimeWater. Earlier this month, Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro said that joint venture agreements (JVAs) between PrimeWater and other local water districts increased in 2019 when the LWUA was still an attached agency of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). Castro had emphasized that the DPWH during that time was led by then-secretary and incumbent Senator Mark Villar. Villar, in return, denied that he had any participation in joint venture agreements entered into by PrimeWater and other local water districts facilitated through the LWUA. Marcos to launch new national sports dev't program
President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Jr. on Monday vowed to launch a new national sports development program for Filipinos in a bid to strengthen its grassroots program. "Magbubuhos tayo ng todo-suporta sa mga palaro at mga atleta sa buong bansa. Halimbawa, ang Palarong Pambansa, at ang Batang Pinoy Games na gaganapin sa General Santos City ngayong Oktubre," Marcos said in his fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA). (We will give our full support to sports and athletes across the country. For example, the Palarong Pambansa and the Batang Pinoy Games, which will be held in General Santos City this October.) "Bubuo tayo ng bagong pambansang programa sa sports development. Uumpisahan natin ito sa paaralan pa lamang. Ibabalik natin ang mga sports clubs at magsasagawa tayo ng mga palaro at intrams sa lahat ng mga pampublikong paaralan." (We will create a new national sports development program. We will start it right in schools. We will bring back sports clubs, and we will hold games and intramurals in all public schools.) Marcos said the Philippine Sports Commission and the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation will make sure that support will be given to athletes and the country's sports program. Marcos urges int'l businesses to 'invest in the Filipino, PH agriculture'
President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. on Monday vowed to stir growth in the manufacturing and agriculture industries, calling on international businesses to invest in these sectors.
