High time India cuts Pakistan's 'jugular veins': Ex-US official on Pahalgam attack
Former Pentagon official Michael Rubin on Thursday called Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir's remarks about Kashmir being their "jugular vein" a direct provocation to India in the days leading up to the Pahalgam attack that claimed 26 lives. The ex-US official went a step ahead and said that India needs to go ahead and cut "Pakistan's jugular", reported news agency ANI.advertisement"Certainly that speech seemed to green light terror. Asim Munir said that Kashmir is the jugular vein. What India now needs to do is to cut Pakistan's jugular. There's no ifs, ands, or buts. There are no shortcuts anymore. Asim Munir gave the green light," Rubin was quoted as telling ANI.
Saying that Pakistan is "playing the West for fools," Rubin said that Islamabad has now opened a new front against India in Bangladesh."But we also know, based on geography, based on precedent, and based on ideological swamp, that it is Pakistan's ISI, that they are logistically and ideologically the only country that is the suspect right now," Rubin continued.Questioning the timing of the attack, Rubin said that Pakistan's intention was to draw the world's attention away from US Vice President JD Vance's visit to India. He further urged the US to not "let Pakistan get away with it."advertisementRubin further compared the attacks on Pahalgam to the October 7 Hamas attacks on Israel.Addressing the Convention for Overseas Pakistanis last week, General Munir said, 'Our stance is absolutely clear, it was our jugular vein, it will be our jugular vein. We will not forget it. We will not leave our Kashmiri brothers in their heroic struggle."In response, the Ministry of External Affairs stated: "How can anything foreign be in a jugular vein? This is a union territory of India. Its only relationship with Pakistan is the vacation of illegally occupied territories by that country."Must Watch

UP govt to give 20% reservation in police, fire services to ex-Agniveers
The Uttar Pradesh government will provide 20 per cent reservation to the ex-Agniveers in the state police and fire department, an official said on Saturday. The Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday said that it will provide 20 per cent reservation to ex-Agniveers in direct recruitment to several positions in the state police. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Join new Free to Play WWII MMO War Thunder War Thunder Play Now Undo The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath . Speaking to reporters after the meeting, UP Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna on Tuesday said the move aims to provide meaningful post-service opportunities to Agniveers, who have completed their four-year term under the Agnipath scheme . Live Events "This is a significant decision. The reservation will be applicable across categories -- General, SC, ST and OBC. If an ex-Agniveer belongs to the SC category, the reservation will apply within SC; if OBC, then within OBC," he explained. Special age relaxation of up to three years will also be provided to former Agniveers applying for these posts, he added. There are four categories -- police constable, PAC constable, mounted police and fireman -- for which recruitment will be done. The first batch of recruits under this system will come out in 2026, Khanna said. "Several states and central forces have already taken the initiative to provide reservations to Agniveers. States like Haryana and Odisha have offered 10 per cent reservation to former Agniveers. The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet has now approved 20 per cent horizontal reservation, which is a bold and generous initiative," the minister said. This not only recognises their service but ensures that they continue contributing to the nation's security infrastructure after their military stint, he said. The Centre introduced the Agnipath scheme in 2022 for short-term induction of personnel in the Army, Navy and Air Force with an aim to bring down the age profile of the three services.

Gangster Goldy Brar, 4 Others Charged In Gurugram Bomb Attack Case
New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has chargesheeted five accused, including Canada-based Khalistani terrorist Goldy Brar, in the 2024 case relating to bomb attacks at two clubs in Gurugram, officials said on Saturday. The NIA has booked Satinderjit Singh alias Goldy Brar, along with Sachin Taliyan, Ankit, Bhawish and US-based Randeep Singh alias Randeep Malik, under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Arms Act, Explosives Substance Act, and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in its charge sheet filed before a court in Panchkula on Friday, they said. Barring Brar and Malik, all others have been arrested in the case, they said. The NIA had found the accused to be involved in a conspiracy to target the Warehouse Club and the Human Club in Sector 29 in Gurugram, Haryana, with bombs. It was part of banner terrorist outfit Babbar Khalsa International's (BKI) larger conspiracy to spread communal disharmony and disrupt peace in Haryana and neighbouring regions by unleashing violence, according to an official statement. The attack, perpetrated by members and cadres of the proscribed BKI, took place on December 10, 2024, it said. The NIA investigations later revealed that the "deep-rooted" terror conspiracy was hatched by Goldy Brar and his associates, said the statement issued by the probe agency. According to the NIA investigations, the terror syndicate is actively involved in extorting money, raising terror funds, procuring explosives and arms and ammunition, and promoting terror amongst the common people to threaten the integrity, security (including economic security) and sovereignty of the country.
