‘He's got the ugliest nose': UK mom sparks outrage after mocking her newborn baby

Hindustan Times24-04-2025

A young British mother has sparked backlash after calling her newborn son 'ugly' just moments after giving birth, and the internet isn't taking it lightly.
Jess, a woman in her twenties from the UK, shared a video where she can be seen holding her baby while making harsh remarks about his appearance, reported the New York Post. The clip, which has racked up more than 1.2 million views, shows her bluntly stating, 'He's got the f- -king ugliest nose.' She didn't stop there. 'He's so ugly,' Jess said, reflecting on her immediate reaction after childbirth.
In the caption of the video, she explained her response came while still in shock post-labour. 'I literally stared at him and cried [because] I thought he was so ugly while I was in shock after labour,' she admitted, adding that she did eventually warm up to her baby's looks.
'I thought he was cute after a few hours,' she wrote, asking viewers not to come after her for the raw honesty. She blamed her reaction on postpartum hormones.

While some may have chalked it up to brutal honesty, many viewers didn't find Jess' comments amusing. Online backlash was swift and intense.
'Baby's first bully,' one user wrote, while another said, 'This is actually so cruel.'
A concerned viewer added, 'Imagine knowing your mom posted this for everyone to see and laugh at you? Poor little boy.'
Another advised, 'Delete this now and never mention it again. You will crush [his] self-esteem forever.'
A user took issue not with the sentiment but with the public nature of it. 'It's one thing to think/say it whilst just given birth,' he wrote.
'But to post it on a public platform for all to see and laugh at is completely disgusting to be honest!'
'Mother of the year,' someone else added sarcastically.
Jess is not alone in expressing harsh first impressions of her newborn. Emily Crossan, another mother from England, once said,
'He was so funny looking and definitely not the most attractive baby in the world,' comparing her baby to a 'garden gnome.'
The internet has seen a wave of similar sentiments under trends like the 'Ugly Baby Challenge,' where parents jokingly post photos of their children looking less than photogenic. The controversial challenge gained traction on TikTok during the pandemic.
While some parents find humor in these moments, medical professionals have their own code when navigating such delicate situations. Miki Rai, a healthcare worker from Seattle, offered insight into how hospital staff handle it:
'If the baby is cute, you can just tell them the baby's cute,' she said in a video.
'But if the baby is ugly,' she laughed,

The crash has triggered a wave of condolences from across the country, with Bollywood icons joining the nation in mourning. Airline officials identified the pilots as Captain Sumeet Sabharwal, a senior trainer with over 8,000 flying hours, and First Officer Clive Kundar. The aircraft had issued a Mayday call before losing contact with air traffic control. In the aftermath, Air India's parent company, Tata Group, has pledged Rs 1 crore in compensation to the families of the deceased. (ANI)

‘He despises them': Furious Prince William to axe Harry's children from royal lineup when he's king

Prince William is reportedly preparing to strip Prince Harry 's children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet , of their HRH (His/Her Royal Highness) titles once he becomes king. The decision follows a quiet but provocative suggestion flagged by The Guardian and later amplified by the Daily Mail, that Harry hopes to retain the HRH status for his children so they can decide for themselves if they wish to be working royals when they're older. Royal insiders were stunned. 'William obviously isn't going to hire Archie and Lilibet,' one friend of the prince told The Daily Beast . 'This is just trolling on the part of Harry and Meghan… The idea that somehow having a vestigial HRH as a baby later entitles you to be a working royal is beyond parody.' The relevance of HRH title The HRH style is not a title but a royal courtesy, bestowed by letters patent, a formal decree of the monarch. It grants no legal power but carries symbolic weight in the British monarchy. Harry and Meghan agreed to stop using the HRH styling when they stepped down from royal duties in 2020, a deal forged at the now-infamous Sandringham Summit with Queen Elizabeth II . But royal sources claim Meghan has since privately used her HRH and even allowed others to address her as such, what one former palace staffer calls 'a betrayal of the Queen's trust.' Live Events Adding to the frustration, a source close to William told The Daily Beast that he is likely to issue new letters patent to formally strip the HRH styling from Harry's entire family. 'They have asked the Sussexes politely to stop using the style, to no avail,' the source said. 'This won't stand.' Experts say the monarch has the power to revoke HRH status at will. 'It's essentially like an executive order,' said Norman Baker, a former government minister. 'And William could clean house when he takes the throne—possibly limiting HRH to children of the monarch only.' For Harry and Meghan, the move would be a symbolic blow, especially as Harry reportedly wants his children to have the option of a royal future. But as one palace source put it: 'Charles may not want this fight, but William despises Harry and Meghan at this stage, and when he is king, his fury will rain down on them.'

Dua Lipa opens up about wedding plans and kids post-engagement with Callum Turner: ‘I love kids, but…'

Pop icon Dua Lipa has confirmed the news that fans have been speculating about for months — she's officially engaged to British actor Callum Turner. 'Yeah, we're engaged,' the 29-year-old singer told British Vogue in a new interview. 'It's very exciting. This decision to grow old together, to see a life and just, I don't know, be best friends forever – it's a really special feeling.' The couple has been together for over a year and a half. Callum, 35, is best known for his roles in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016), Masters of the Air, and his BAFTA-nominated performance in The Capture. Despite their packed schedules — Dua with a world tour, he with ongoing shoots — the two have made a rule: they won't go longer than two and a half weeks apart. When her tour stretched to three weeks, it was, she admits, 'very hard.' A post shared by DUA LIPA (@dualipa) Still, marriage plans aren't taking centre stage just yet. 'As for the wedding: no plans yet,' she says. 'I want to finish my tour, Callum's shooting, so we're just enjoying this period. I've never been someone who's really thought about a wedding, or dreamt about what kind of bride I would be. All of a sudden I'm like: 'Oh, what would I wear?'' What grounds them, despite the fame and frenzy, are simple routines. At home, they cook together and Dua's roast dinners have a cult following among friends; when they travel, it's all about record stores and discovering new restaurants. As for children? It's on the horizon, but not planned out. 'I'd love to have kids one day,' she shares. 'But it's like the constant question of when would there ever be a good time — how it would fit in with my job and how it would work if I went on tour, and how much time out I'd have to take. I think it's just one of those things that's going to happen when it happens. I love kids, but I think there's so much more to raising a child than just loving children.' For now, Dua seems perfectly content soaking in the joy of being engaged, and being in love with her best friend.
