According to an affidavit, the victim told investigators that 'things got heated and he got aggressive' after Cranmore came to the home to discuss their upcoming divorce and wanted to retrieve a gun that had been left at the home.
'[Victim] said as William was going for the gun, he pushed her down, put his knee in her neck, then started hitting her in the face,' deputies reported. 'William told her he would 'Title 33′ her and take her to the hospital for help.'
In Tennessee Code, Title 33 refers to laws regarding mental health, substance abuse and intellectual and developmental disabilities. The victim reported that she was not suicidal and had no thoughts of harming herself.

Wisconsin man pleads guilty to smuggling lab equipment to Russian companies

A Wisconsin man pleaded guilty Tuesday to smuggling lab equipment to Russian companies in violation of trade sanctions the United States imposed after Russia invaded Ukraine. Federal prosecutors charged Andrew Pogosyan, a 68-year-old Russian-born U.S. citizen who lives in Madison, in June in a four-count information with conspiracy to defraud the United States and smuggling goods out of the country. According to the information, Pogosyan started using his company, Omega Diagnostics LLC, in September 2022 to ship lab equipment to Russian companies, including one that performed chemical research for the Russian military. The U.S. Department of Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security imposed sanctions in February 2022 on exports to Russia in response to the Ukrainian invasion. The sanctions require exporters to obtain special licenses to ship technology and goods to Russia, particularly products that could help Russia produce chemical and biological weapons. According to prosecutors, Pogosyan did not obtain a license and tried to conceal his exports' ultimate destination by sending them to third-party countries, including Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkey, Latvia, and Lithuania. The products were then forwarded on to the Russian companies. Pogosyan faces up to 35 years in prison when he's sentenced Oct. 7. His attorney, William Coffield, said in an email to The Associated Press on Monday afternoon that Pogosyan is a good person and didn't appreciate the seriousness of the sanctions. He added that Pogosyan's customers were scientists working on medical and other non-military research. "He has accepted responsibility," Coffield said, "and is working to make amends."

Warning for accused e-bike killer

A man accused of killing a pedestrian while riding an illegally modified e-bike has appeared in court. Jacob Charleston, 24, appeared in Melbourne Magistrates Court with his arm in a sling on Wednesday for a bail review hearing. He was granted bail earlier in July after being charged with offences including dangerous driving causing death. Police allege Mr Charleston was unlicensed and had methamphetamine in his system when he fatally struck 69-year-old William Lothian with a pushbike fitted with a 5000-watt motor. The impact occurred as Mr Lothian was crossing Frankston-Flinders Rd in Hastings in the evening of May 12. The magistrate adjourned the matter for a month, stressing the importance of the accused engaging with the support programs tied to his bail conditions. 'Seek the assistance that's been provided,' the magistrate said. 'If you don't it will be to your detriment.' Mr Charleston is expected to return to court in August.
