HOUSTON - Prepare for another hot and humid Monday, but expect daily chances for showers throughout the week to help cool temperatures down with the coverage increasing over the next few days.
Hot, humid start to new week
Houston and Southeast Texas can expect temperatures to soar Monday. Highs in Houston are forecast to reach 98 degrees. Feels-like temperatures could reach as high as 107 degrees.
There is no active Heat Advisory, but it is very important to stay safe in this heat. Drink plenty of water, take breaks inside with A/C, reapply sunscreen and always remember to look before you lock your vehicle.
Daily rain chances high this week
The overall rain outlook this week is a bit random with a daily round of afternoon showers and storms expected, but with periods of hot sunshine in between.
Our extended models are very mixed with timing and coverage of rain, but isolated afternoon storms make sense in this pattern. Rainfall totals will likely be a bit higher toward the end of the week and potentially upcoming weekend.
Erin churns in the Atlantic, tropics heat up
'Hurricane Erin' continues to churn in the Atlantic as it passes north of Turks & Caicos and the Bahamas. The latest models have Erin curving away from the eastern coast of the U.S. this week.
Indirect impacts of large swell and dangerous rip currents are likely up and down the eastern seaboard, especially in coastal North Carolina. The system is far away from Texas and will have no effect on our area.

Saline residents asked to conserve water for essential use due to well repairs
The City of Saline in Washtenaw County, Michigan, is urging for an immediate pause of "non-essential water use" such as lawn watering as critical repairs are taking place on one of its aquifer wells. The notice was issued Monday, and city officials say residents may notice "harder than normal" water while the repairs take place. "At this moment, we do not have an accurate timeline of how long the repairs may take. We will have a better idea of this timeline at the end of the week," the report said. The repairs are taking place on Well Number 5, which is the main source of water from the city aquifer. While there is no need to boil water due to the repair work, city officials ask that water use be limited to essential indoor use such as drinking, cooking, cleaning and sanitation. Refrain from irrigation, lawn watering, car washing and filling pools. "We know this is an inconvenience, and we sincerely appreciate the understanding and cooperation of our residents. By working together, we can ensure every household and business has reliable access to water while we finish this vital repair," Acting City Manager Elle Cole said in the announcement. Updates will be posted on the city's website.

Foggy start before sunny, seasonable Tuesday in Twin Cities
After some patchy morning fog, Tuesday will be sunny and seasonable across Minnesota. Expect highs in the lower 80s in the Twin Cities. Light winds and muggy nights may bring more fog through midweek. A mostly dry pattern holds through Thursday, when a weak cold front could bring isolated storms at night. Then, the first weekend of the Minnesota State Fair looks sunny and cooler, with highs in the lower 70s.

Pittsburgh-area weather conditions will be pleasant again today with a chance for rain returning this evening
It's going to be another pleasant day in the Pittsburgh area today before a rain chance returns to the forecast this evening. As a wise Marvel wizard once said, 'we are in the endgame now when it comes to summer. Ok so he may not have been talking about summer, but you get the point. This is the time of the year when pumpkin spice this or that begins showing up on store shelves. The kids are going back to school either this week or next. Pools are beginning to change their schedules. You may be in denial that summer is coming to an end, but that will be harder to do heading into next week. For now, we get to continue to enjoy summer. Highs today should hit the upper 80s. I have Pittsburgh seeing a high temperature of around 87°. I also have us hitting 87° on Saturday for our high. While today will be dry and will see plenty of sunshine, rain chances will roll in overnight. Places along I-80 will likely see the highest rain totals, with some maybe hitting an inch. Most places along I-80 can expect to see around a half inch. Rain totals closer to Pittsburgh will be a lot more modest of maybe a fifth of an inch. The best chance for rain in Pittsburgh will come during and just before the morning rush on Wednesday. Expect drizzle and light rain in pockets for the rest of the day and on Thursday morning. I have Wednesday's high hitting 83 degrees. That may be too high. Thursday and Friday will both see highs in the low 80s too, as a cooler airmass is in place. We get a quick bump in temperatures on Saturday before another front sweeps through during the evening. This time, we not only get cooler air from the cold front, but a trailing trough will really send temperatures dipping. I have highs in just the mid to low 70s next Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday. While I keep morning lows in the 50s next week, most communities will see morning lows dipping to the 40s.
