Terengganu police are investigating a viral video featuring a group of underage teens riding basikal lajak in a hazardous manner down the Jambatan Angkat in Kuala Terengganu.
State Police Chief Datuk Mohd Khairi Khairudin confirmed that an enquiry is underway following public complaints.
"Based on initial findings, the riders committed two offences: riding dangerously and modifying the original structure of the bicycles," he said.
"Under Regulation 42(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Rules 1959, cyclists who modify their bikes and endanger road users can face legal action," he added.
Police have also advised parents to maintain stricter supervision of their children to prevent them from engaging in risky activities, cautioning that guardians could be held accountable if found negligent.
Authorities plan to increase patrols around downtown Kuala Terengganu and areas known to attract large groups of teenagers.
They encourage anyone with information about this type of disruptive behaviour to come forward to aid the investigation.
