There's Still Some Hope That 'Sirens' Could Get Another Season
Though Netflix's new dark comedy Sirens just dropped yesterday, we're already fantasizing about a second season. Created by Molly Smith Metzler (Maid) and executive produced by Margot Robbie's LuckyChap, the five-episode series follows two estranged sisters, Devon DeWitt (Meghann Fahy) and Simone DeWitt (Milly Alcock), who reconnect after spending an extended time apart. Simone works as a live-in assistant for a quirky socialite, Michaela 'Kiki' Kell (Julianne Moore), and Devon spends a weekend at the Kell's beach estate while they plan for their annual gala. Kevin Bacon also stars as Michaela's husband Peter, and Glenn Howerton, Bill Camp, and Felix Solis round out the stacked cast.
While it's touted as a limited series, that hasn't stopped a network from renewing a show before. Below, here's everything we know about season 2.
As of right now, there's no definitive answer. In a recent interview with Variety, Smith Metzler noted that although the story of Sirens, which is actually an adaptation of her 2011 play Elemeno Pea, is 'contained,' she's still 'dying' to work on a continuous series. 'I'm really excited to move into an ongoing space,' she said, 'and I'm actively thinking about that and looking for what that will be.' If that means that there might be hope for a potential second season, we'll take it.
Meghann Fahy, Milly Alcock, Julianne Moore, and Kevin Bacon would undoubtedly have to return, as they're the main cast members in season 1, and much of the story revolves around their characters.
The fifth and final episode of season 1, 'Siren Song,' ended on a major cliffhanger.
Simone turns down her boyfriend's engagement and, instead, starts dating her boss Michaela's husband Peter, and Devon decides to put her own life on hold to continue being the sole caretaker for their dad. A second season might pick up where we left off and dive into Simone's new life of luxury as the new Mrs. Kell. It would also be interesting to see what happens to Michaela now that she and Peter are divorced.

He had the chance to reflect on it during a conversation with comedian Mo Amer for the Actors on Actors series for Variety. 'I haven't watched it in a while, but I remember it fondly,' Chappelle said at the 27-minute mark of the conversation, which was shared Wednesday (June 4) after Amer asked him about his perspective on it from back then to now. The monologue went viral, as Chappelle declared that 'an internet troll' had won the White House, also pointing out his history of sexual assault. He would then segue into how he felt after former President Barack Obama won in 2008. 'And it made me very happy about the prospects of our country,' he said then. 'So, in that spirit, I'm wishing Donald Trump luck. And I'm going to give him a chance. And we, the historically disenfranchised, demand that he give us one, too.''Oh, I remember that part,' Chappelle said. 'You know what? I look at it like a photograph. That's what it felt like in that moment. Now, if it ages well or not, I don't get mad if I look at a picture because it's not today. That's what it was at that time.' He continued, 'You might look at an old set and cringe, but you could just cringe because of how you were at that time. And in that sense, I'm fine with it.' Chappelle's conversation with Amer is one of the rare moments he's opened up for media – he has declined direct interviews in the wake of brushback from jokes he made against the transgender community in his 2021 Netflix special The Closer . But he and the Palestinian comedian bonded during the COVID-19 pandemic, making this a keen opportunity for the two to talk about comedy and their perspectives on the current times particularly with Amer's hit Netflix show. And for me, that was a huge turning point because it's something I've done for the past 10 years. 'I was already on this steady trajectory of change and I was thinking about where I wanted my career to go, and when the BBC decided they didn't want to commission the show anymore, it really did kind of solidify everything for me, and it made me dig my heels in and think 'OK, I know where I want to be'.' BBC News website quotes a spokesperson for the broadcaster confirming: 'After several wonderful series we have made the difficult decision not to commission another cookery show with Nadiya Hussain at the moment.' The statement continued: 'Nadiya remains a much-valued part of the BBC family, and we look forward to working together on future projects.' Hussain's other series for the BBC have included Nadiya's Everyday Baking and Nadiya's Cook Once Eat Twice, as well as the documentary Nadiya: Anxiety and Me. Since her victory on The Great British Bake Off in 2015, Hussain has become one of the UK's most familiar cooking figures, including baking a cake to celebrate HM The Queen's 90th birthday, and writing books alongside her TV work. In the video she posted where she outlined difficulties of being a Muslim woman on screen, Hussain said she was moving in a 'positive direction', adding: 'I'm working on some new things, but for me it's about being my most authentic self, and working with people who believe my voice has a platform, and believing in my talent.'
