Art Basel Qatar to Debut in Doha in February
LONDON — Art Basel is expanding its reach and will make its debut in the Middle East with Art Basel Qatar in February.
The art fair will be formed by MCH Group, the parent company of Art Basel along with Qatar Sports Investments, an investor in sports, culture, entertainment and lifestyle in the region, and the QC+ strategic and creative collective.

Art Basel Qatar will be taking place in Doha, the country's capital city and will showcase modern and contemporary art from the artists and galleries across the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia.
The fair will be divided between two incubation spaces in downtown Msheireb: M7 and the Doha Design District.
Art Basel Qatar is part of the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani's mission to drive social and economic development within the region.
'As part of His Highness the Amir's National Vision 2030, Qatar has been transforming itself into a knowledge-based economy, with culture and the creative industries helping to lead the way. We have built a thriving ecosystem of culture and sports, harnessing the capacity of both to break down barriers, create shared experiences, increase understanding and drive positive change,' said Sheikha Al Mayassa Bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, chairperson of Qatar Museums.
Qatar has been doubling down on its cultural initiatives.
The country opened the National Museum of Qatar in 2019 and the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum in 2022. Later this year, Qatar will be opening the Lusail Museum and DADU: Children's Museum of Qatar.
Noah Horowitz, chief executive officer of Art Basel, said, 'Growing the global art market, supporting artists and galleries and developing new collecting audiences is core to Art Basel's mission. The art scene across the MENA region has undergone exponential growth in recent decades, with the establishment of world-class institutions, the launch of leading cultural events and the growth of a vibrant community of artists, galleries and professionals.'

However, things at home aren't all hunky dory, with the duo confessing that they do get into some arguments about each other's quirks. How about the 'low-stakes things' that they 'disagree' on? 'The temperature in our bedroom,' Brooklyn offered. 'I like it freezing; Nicola likes it warm.' 'Same with lighting! I love it soft and cozy,' Nicola added. 'Brooklyn turns on every light. But marriage is about compromise. He cranks the AC, I layer up under blankets.' Although the couple shared limited details about their dwelling, they are understood to be residing in a luxury condo unit just a short distance from Beverly Hills, which Nicola's mother, Claudia Heffner Peltz, purchased for $3.8 million in 2012. The 11th-floor unit in a high-rise building boasts three bedrooms, five bathrooms, and 3,520 square feet of living space—a far cry from the megamansion the couple purchased together as their first marital home. Nicola and Brooklyn snapped up that Beverly Hills property in 2021 for a hefty $10.5 million—but put it back on the market just eight months later, for an asking price of $12 million. They eventually sold it in August 2022 for just $9.25 million, taking a $1.25 million loss on the sale. Nicola later admitted to Cosmopolitan that the investment had been a 'silly' mistake. She explained that the couple had initially decided to sell the home because they would likely be spending more time in Florida—where her father is based and where Brooklyn's dad, soccer legend David Beckham, is co-owner of the local team, Inter Miami CF. 'We sold it because we were like, 'Oh, we're going to go to Florida for a while.' And then we're like, 'No, just kidding, we have to be in L.A. for work,'' she explained. 'It was so silly of us. And now we're saving up money to get our dream house.' David and his wife, Victoria Beckham, reportedly put down some pricey roots in Miami Beach. The Real Deal reported in October 2024 that the couple were in the process of buying a nine-bedroom, 9.5-bathroom mansion in the city. The property, which was listed for $80 million, was sold that same month for $72.25 million, suggesting that the Beckhams scored quite a deal. Meanwhile, Nicola's family is based just a short distance from that dwelling—in a Palm Beach estate that measures 26,861 square feet. It comes with six bedrooms and 19 bathrooms. The property is located directly on the beach and offers beautiful views of the water. However, if Brooklyn and Nicola ever fancy a change of scenery, they need only hop across the pond to the Beckhams' primary residence in London's Holland Park, which they purchased for a staggering $37.9 million in 2013—before pouring a reported $10 million into renovations. Interestingly, Brooklyn and Nicola made no mention in their Glamour interview about ongoing rumors that they are embroiled in a 'feud' with the Beckham family. Multiple reports suggested that a rift began when the happy couple tied the knot and has raged on ever since. The couple did, however, open up about the origins of their relationship, revealing that their first proper meeting took place at a 2019 Halloween party thrown by none other than Leonardo DiCaprio. Following their passionate embrace, they were inseparable, and Brooklyn proposed just six months after dating. However, their wedding was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 'We were engaged for a long time because of COVID. We wanted a big wedding, but we also wanted to protect our grandparents. 'There were moments when we thought, 'Should we just elope in Vegas?' But people talked us out of it. When you've lived together for a while, marriage doesn't change everything except that it feels really special to say 'my husband' or 'my wife,'' Nicola explained. Reneé Rapp comes out in defense of scissoring: 'Yes, [it's] real!'
Reneé Rapp is weighing in on a lesbian debate that has raged on for years — is scissoring real? The "Pretty Girls" singer recently chatted with Anania Williams for a @ segment on TikTok, answering important questions like "What gay celebrity would Regina George date today?" and "How are femme and masc lesbians' thirst traps different?" At one point, Williams asked Rapp which of her tattoos is the gayest. The answer was, of course, the ink she got on her arm of two scissors intertwined. And that led to a follow-up question about whether or not scissoring is real — something Rapp apparently has very strong feelings about. "Yes, scissoring is real!" she declared.
