Some moments perfectly capture why we love the royal family, and Prince Louis just delivered one for the ages. At Trooping the Colouron June 14, the 7-year-old royal reminded us that protocol is no match for pure childhood joy – and honestly, we're here for it.
As someone whose mother kept me home from school to watch marry Prince Charles, and who did the same for my daughters during William and Harry's weddings, I live for these unscripted royal moments. They remind us that beneath the crowns and ceremony, they're just a family trying to wrangle energetic kids.
During the RAF flypast from Buckingham Palace's famous balcony, Louis discovered something magical: every time he waved, the crowd erupted in cheers. Naturally, he kept waving. The TikTok footage shows Prince George placing a protective arm on his little brother – the universal big sibling "chill out" gesture we all recognize.
Meanwhile, Kate Middleton deployed what royal watchers are calling her best "mom face" – that perfect blend of "straighten up" mixed with barely contained laughter that every parent has mastered. It's the look that says "behave yourself" while secretly thinking "this is actually adorable."
But the real star of this show? King Charles, who couldn't stop giggling at his grandson's antics. Photos captured the monarch grinning as Louis made exaggerated gestures, even mimicking his grandfather's royal wave.
What strikes me most is how beautifully human this moment feels. Yes, these children live extraordinary lives under intense public scrutiny, but watching George step into protective big brother mode while Kate balances discipline with affection feels wonderfully relatable.
As a mother of two daughters, I see my own family dynamics playing out on that famous balcony. The gentle corrections, the sibling management, the grandparent who finds everything hilarious – it's universal parenting, just with better costumes and a bigger audience.Sometimes the most precious royal moments happen when protocol takes a backseat to pure, unfiltered childhood wonder.

The Beach Boys Chart A New Hit Following Brian Wilson's Passing

The Beach Boys' "Good Vibrations" debuts on one U.K. chart more than half a century after its ... More release following Brian Wilson's passing. Clockwise from left, the Beach Boys are Al Jardine, Mike Love, Brian Wilson, Dennis Wilson, and Carl Wilson. Brian Wilson, the genius musician behind The Beach Boys and one of the most celebrated singers and songwriters of all time, passed away on June 11 at the age of 82. Millions of people around the world immediately rushed to honor his legacy by returning to the Beach Boys' classics, which helped define a generation's sound and changed pop music forever. In the wake of Wilson's death, the group scores a new hit in the United Kingdom with a track that originally took over the airwaves more than half a century ago, as 'Good Vibrations' has become a bestseller once again. 'Good Vibrations' appears on a pair of rankings in the U.K. this week. The track debuts on the Official Singles Sales chart, and this frame marks its first appearance on the country's list of the top-selling tunes. The cut opens at No. 55 on the Official Singles Sales chart this frame. Of course, that tally didn't exist when 'Good Vibrations' was first released, and the track required a special set of circumstances to reach this roster. As 'Good Vibrations' debuts, The Beach Boys collect only a third hit on the Official Singles Sales chart. The group first appeared on the list in 2014 with 'God Only Knows,' which remains its top-performing cut on that tally. It's thus far the only release by the band to spend more than one week on the ranking, and it has peaked at No. 23. The Beach Boys scored a second win in 2020 with 'Kokomo.' 'Good Vibrations' now marks the group's third placement and its second-highest-rising title so far — though that number may change in a few days once a full tracking period has passed following the sad news. 'Good Vibrations' also returns to the Official Singles Downloads chart as it debuts on the all-encompassing sales roster. The track had previously spent just one week at No. 22, and now it doubles its total number of appearances on that list by breaking back in at No. 52. 'Good Vibrations' joins only 'God Only Knows' as one of two Beach Boys hits that fans immediately selected as their favorites — the ones they wanted to revisit after Wilson's death. Several collections, such as Sounds of Summer and Pet Sounds, also return, and the group's chart takeover may be even more impressive when the rankings are refreshed.

Prince Harry Teaches Prince Archie This Skill in New Clip Released by Meghan Markle

Meghan Markle shared a Father's Day tribute to husband Prince Harry on June 15, including numerous never-before-seen clips of Harry with kids Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. One clip showed Harry taking part in a total dad duty: teaching Archie to ride his bike. The Duke of Sussex was also seen over the weekend in a surprise clip celebrating Germany's inaugural Veteran's the many intimate scenes that Meghan Markle shared of Prince Harry's life as a dad to Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet yesterday was a sweet shot of Harry doing a very fatherly duty—teaching Archie how to ride his bike. The Duchess of Sussex posted a reel on June 15—which doubled as Father's Day in both the U.S. and the U.K.—featuring never-before-seen clips of Harry with his kids, swinging on a porch swing, enjoying the beach, reading a book together, visiting animals, and, yes, biking. Clips of the kids range from their newborn days up to the present, and in some shots, Archie and Lilibet's faces can be clearly seen—a rarity when it comes to Meghan posting photos and videos of them. As ever, their red hair is on full display. The reel opens and closes with Harry with the kids outside at what is presumably their Montecito, California home, a Happy Father's Day banner hung to celebrate Harry. Other glimpses of their stunning home—both indoor and outdoor—can be seen in the reel posted Sunday, including a clip of Harry and Archie dancing in the kitchen, and Archie learning to ride his bike with the help of Harry on the Sussex's breathtaking driveway. As her brother takes off, Lilibet begins to run behind him and Harry, trying to catch up. 'The best,' Meghan wrote alongside the videos. 'Happy Father's Day to our favorite guy.' Harry and Meghan were not at Trooping the Colour this weekend, where Harry's father King Charles' official birthday was being celebrated. Charles and Harry's relationship remains estranged, and when the royal family's official Instagram account posted a Father's Day message yesterday, it didn't make any mention of Charles' sons Prince William or Harry—it celebrated Prince Philip, Charles' father, and Bruce Shand, Queen Camilla's father. The Duke of Edinburgh died in 2021, and Shand died in 2006. The first photo shared by the royal family is one of Philip pushing Charles and his sister Princess Anne on a swing; the second is of Camilla and her father on her 2005 wedding day to Charles. 'To all dads everywhere, we wish you a happy Father's Day today,' the caption read. Meghan was due to be honored this weekend at a gala in Los Angeles—and presumably Harry was to join her—but the gala was postponed amid ongoing protests in the city. Harry made a surprise appearance in a video clip released over the weekend speaking German to mark Germany's inaugural Veteran's Day, describing it as a 'profound privilege' to address the country on this 'sacred' day, per GB News. The Duke of Sussex started his message in German before switching to English, recalling his visit to Düsseldorf alongside Meghan for the 2023 Invictus Games, which he said was 'etched in my memory.' 'The warmth, the enthusiasm, and the unwavering support shown by the German people for our global community of wounded service personnel was truly humbling,' he said. 'You certainly delivered on your promise to create a home for respect. That spirit of camaraderie, forged on the sports field, mirrors the unbreakable bond that connects veterans of all nations. We understand each other, regardless of flag or uniform, bound by shared experiences and an enduring commitment to service.' 'Veterans are more than warriors—they are leaders,' he continued. 'Living testaments to resilience and moral courage, they understand that loyalty must never lie with power alone, but with the people. With truth.' Harry served in the British Army for 10 years, including two tours of duty in Afghanistan. 'As someone who has worn the uniform and stood shoulder-to-shoulder with brothers- and sisters-in-arms from across the world—including many of you—I know that the weight of service is not carried lightly,' Harry continued. 'We serve not to glorify war, but to protect peace. Not to follow a single voice, but to uphold a collective oath—to country, to people, and to the principles that bind us together as free nations.' 'Today, let us renew our commitment—together—to protect the freedoms that define who we are, to serve each other for peace, for dignity, and for the enduring promise of democracy,' he added before signing off his message in German. Harry wore many medals in the video, including many connected to his service to the royal family—the Afghan Campaign medal, the Golden Jubilee medal, the Diamond Jubilee medal, and the Platinum Jubilee medal, the latter three representing Queen Elizabeth's 50, 60, and 70 years on the throne, respectively. Scotland's Home of the Year star runs Glasgow Men's 10k in unusual footwear

A 10k run in unusual footwear has helped put a spotlight on men's mental health. TV presenter and architect Danny Campbell completed the Glasgow Men's 10K in a pair of Crocs, using the eye-catching choice of footwear to start conversations around grief, resilience, and men's mental health. Danny, known for his role as a judge on BBC Scotland's Home of the Year, ran the 10K in memory of his younger brother Duncan, who passed away last year following a long illness. He said: "I ran the race in my brother's honour. "Every squeaky step, Dunk was with me. "He faced life's hardest challenges with humour, courage, and zero regards for convention. "He made sure we laughed, even when things got impossibly hard. "I'm just trying to follow in his footsteps." The architect, who founded HOKO Design in 2019 and serves as an ambassador for The Social Hub Glasgow, has spoken candidly about balancing grief, fatherhood, and entrepreneurship while raising three young boys. (Image: Supplied) Danny said: "My Crocs are now a symbol of not giving a toss about other people's expectations. "It's about showing up as yourself — and creating space for other people to do the same. "Thanks to everyone who donated, cheered, or just shook their head in disbelief. "I hope it made people smile - and maybe think about someone they could check in on today." The Glasgow Men's 10k, which began at the Riverside Museum and finished at Glasgow Green, aims to encourage men of all ages to get active and speak openly about their mental health. Danny is raising funds for the Mental Health Foundation, a UK charity dedicated to addressing mental health issues. Donations remain open at Read more: New Glasgow-inspired wellbeing wallpaper unveiled by SAMH Julie Cameron, associate director for Scotland at the Mental Health Foundation, said: "We're incredibly grateful to Danny for taking on this challenge, raising both awareness and vital funds for the Mental Health Foundation. "His message encouraging people, especially men, to talk about their struggles and seek support is more important than ever. "While awareness has grown, stigma still holds many back from opening up about their struggles. "Normalising conversations around mental health is crucial, and if an architect running a 10k in Crocs sparks those discussions, that's a win."
