Peter Andre poses with acting legend after bagging major TV drama role
The 90s pop star caught heat earlier this year when the trailer for Jafaican dropped, a movie in which Peter plays a small-time con artist immersing himself in Jamaican culture to pull off a risky scam.
It involved the Australian singer, 52, wearing dreadlocks and putting on an accent, with social media going to town with their criticism and ripping into the 'outrageous' plot.
A few months on, though, and Peter is back with a very different role.
It's been confirmed that he'll star in The Sunshine Murders, a murder mystery drama set to air on Channel 5 in September.
Teasing the job in his OK! Magazine column last October, he penned: 'I have also got a part in a new Channel 5 drama as one of the lead characters, which I'm excited about.
'I can't reveal the name of it just yet or give much away, but I start filming next month and can't wait to get stuck in. Watch this space!'
Now, we have a look behind-the-scenes of the action, thanks to images shared with the cast.
Shot by Cork Films, the series will also guest star English acting legend Stephanie Beacham, Dimensions star Camilla Rutherford, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows actor Nick Moran, and EastEnders' Nina Wadia.
In a smiley photo, the Mysterious Girl hitmaker sits beside Coronation Street star Stephanie, 78, with him wearing a tracksuit while she is glammed up in costume to play Lady Gloria Whitten-Soames.
Another sees him in the dressing room with his co-stars, as well as supportive son Junior, 20, who seemingly visited his dad on set.
As for Peter's part in the show, he'll be seen like never before, donning all the professional get-up of a Greek pathologist tasked with examining the murder victims. https://www.instagram.com/p/DMIH7-vNESa/
When Peter's casting was confirmed earlier this month, he was seen on the official poster for The Sunshine Murders, wearing his white lab coat and blue rubber gloves.
We know that his character's name is George Constantinos, but that's all for now, as further plot details are being kept hush-hush.
Peter will likely be hoping for a warmer response to the character of George than that of Jafaican's Gary Buckle, aka Gazza.
Upon facing the wrath of the internet, Peter spoke out in defence of the film, which also starred Wil Johnson, Jamie Lomas, and Oliver Samuels.
Ahead of the movie's release celebrations in Queensland, Peter was asked by Channel 7 in Australia: 'The trailer did see some headlines about an English-born, Australian-raised actor playing a Jamaican character; you know about that? Are you surprised there's been some mixed feedback here, or were you anticipating that?'
He responded: 'Well, to be fair, I mean, I think it's good to get all sorts of feedback. I mean, this is not … it's my first lead role, but I've done quite a few roles before. And all of them, I've played different characters.
'So for me, it's acting—I get to do something light-hearted, something funny. Something that, y'know, is the kind of film I'd wanna watch. So it's almost like a little bit self-indulgent in the sense that I get to do something that I've really, really wanted to do.'
Peter went on to praise director Fredi Nwaka for allowing him to play someone 'very, very different'.
In a further conversation with Metro, the Insania vocalist insisted it was 'never the intention' to 'genuinely offend' anyone.
He also recalled his Get Down On It with Kool & The Gang, which he re-released in 1996. In the music video, he wore an Afro wig.
'I was just a bit surprised that this was the one that seemed to cause controversy, and not the role that I played in Fredi's last film, where I actually had to play someone that was racist,' he added, referring to the 2022 film On the Other Foot, in which he played a member of the EDL.

'But again, you have to listen to people; if someone genuinely feels wronged, we understand. We never intended that, ever.' More Trending
Prior to the controversial Jafaican film, Peter's acting CV consisted of various film and TV roles.
While he's known for portraying himself on reality TV shows like I'm A Celebrity and fly-on-the-wall series with ex-wife Katie Price, he also had roles in movies such as The Inheritance (2019) and SnapCatch (2023).
And he's no stranger to the stage, having performed a dual role of Vince Fontaine and Teen Angel in Grease on the West End.

Chris Hughes told me how he used old-fashioned trick to make JoJo his girlfriend & revealed exact moment he fell in love
Kelly Allen was the first journalist to interview Chris about how he'd fallen for JoJo... and revealed their relationship secrets LOVED UP Chris Hughes told me how he used old-fashioned trick to make JoJo his girlfriend & revealed exact moment he fell in love ANYONE who has watched an episode of Love Island will know that dating in the modern world is complicated. From using dating apps to 'seeing each other' then going exclusive, to finally being boyfriend and girlfriend, it's a wonder how anyone gets into a relationship. 7 Chris Hughes revealed the surprising old-fashioned trick he used to take his friendship with JoJo Siwa to the next level Credit: Instagram/Chris Hughes 7 The Sun's Kelly with the celeb couple But we can reveal that Chris Hughes used a surprising old-fashioned trick to turn his friendship with JoJo Siwa into something more serious. I was the first journalist to interview Chris about how he'd fallen for JoJo - and he revealed he took inspiration from William Shakespeare to woo her. The 32-year-old put pen to paper and declared his love in writing. He told me: 'I was confused about how I felt. Then I wasn't confused anymore. I knew I needed to write it down to explain to her how I was feeling.' Perhaps it's because the horse racing commentator previously appeared on the ITV2 dating show Love Island in 2017, finishing third with then-girlfriend Olivia Attwood, that he'd had enough of the confusing modern way of dating - leading him to use more traditional methods to get the girl. The pair were thrown together while both appearing on Celebrity Big Brother in April. Having never met before, Chris, who lives in Ascot, formed an immediate bond with the 22-year-old Californian-based dancer. They both insisted it was purely platonic, especially since bisexual JoJo was in a relationship with Kath Ebbs, who identifies as non-binary. After she dumped the 27-year-old Australian actor at the Celebrity Big Brother finale party, speculation intensified about how they felt about each other. Chris and JoJo initially remained coy but after transatlantic trips to see each other, the pair took it up a level. Chris Hughes reveals baby plans with JoJo Siwa as 'besotted' hunk gushes over new love After much speculation about what was REALLY going on with them, they hard launched as a couple after Chris flew out to Mexico City, then onto Orlando to surprise her for her birthday. Chris explained: 'I went to Florida thinking 'I really like this person', but I was slightly confused about the feelings. I had already written her birthday card before I flew over. I took all these presents over for her. They were fun and sentimental gifts rather than anything of monetary value. 'But the night before her birthday, I realised my feelings had changed. I told her: 'I've got to go do something. I'll be back in half an hour.' 'I went to the hotel reception and borrowed a pen and came back up to the room. 'I took the card and opened it because I had to redo it. I sat in the toilet on my own and I rewrote the card. I knew my feelings had changed, and there was so much more that I needed to say than what I originally put in the birthday card. I wasn't confused anymore, and I knew what my heart was saying, and I wanted to tell her.' 7 Chris calls JoJo by her full name Joelle Credit: Instagram 7 The couple have been sickeningly loved-up since appearing on CBB together Credit: Instagram 7 The couple faced much speculation from fans while in the house together Credit: ITV Since then, the couple, who are having a transatlantic relationship, have been sickeningly loved up and constantly jetting back and forth to spend time with each other. MADLY IN LOVE Speaking about falling in love with JoJo, who he calls by her full name Joelle, he said: 'Some of the best relationships start as friendships. I look back at the CBB clips and could see how we gravitated towards each other. "We just wanted to be there for each other in the house. I adored the ground she walked on and the way she handled herself. How can you not love her? But it was as a friend. 'Then, towards the end of the show, I was confused about my feelings for her. And you don't know what it's going to be like on the outside. I was saying to myself: 'Come on, Chris, pull yourself together.' 'We were just friends at that stage, but we were talking all the time. I was missing her, and I felt like I needed to see her, so I flew to Mexico City to surprise her. "I was so nervous, even though I'd lived with her for three weeks. Then we ended up going to Orlando and I met her family – it was the best three days of my life. "From the minute I woke up until I went to bed, I was just so happy. It was at that moment something fully ignited inside me. "I went: 'God, I really like this person', and I knew she reciprocated it.' 7 JoJo dumped Kath Ebbs, who identifies as non-binary, at the CBB finale party Credit: Getty 7 Chris appeared on Love Island in 2017, finishing third with then girlfriend Olivia Attwood Credit: Rex Features And despite now being officially boyfriend and girlfriend and sharing constant loved-up snaps together on Instagram, the adorable old school way of communicating continues. He added: 'I like writing her letters. I don't do it every day. But when we are apart and I miss her, I write to her. I like writing, and I like to see my handwriting. I like sitting there. It gives me something to do. So when I'm at home alone, I'll get my little pad out.'

Jos Buttler aims to follow Joe Root's lead and thrive as an ex-England captain
Buttler stepped down as leader of England's white-ball team earlier this year after two disappointing World Cup campaigns, passing the baton to Harry Brook over the summer. With his 35th birthday just around the corner, he could easily have walked away entirely in pursuit of guaranteed riches as a full-time franchise freelancer. Jos Buttler (top left) joined fellow Hundred stars and children from the Chance to Shine charity at the launch of a new mural in Manchester. (Wasserman/Handout) But he remains committed to following the lead of Root, who has scored 14 hundreds and averaged 58 since being replaced as Test skipper by Ben Stokes. 'It's not that I wasn't enjoying my cricket before, but I obviously wasn't enjoying the way it was going,' he told the PA news agency. 'Part of the challenge of cricket is trying to come through that, being resilient and getting out the other end. 'I've had a bit of time and space and I do feel like I have a better understanding now of where I was as a player and captain. I'm a bit more relaxed and enjoying my cricket again. I do feel like I'm in a new phase of my career. Jos Buttler (right) is taking his lead from Joe Root (left) (Zac Goodwin/PA) 'Now that I'm not captain anymore it's about me playing the best I can for the team. I love playing for England, it's an honour, and I want to do as much as I can. 'Rooty has been a massive inspiration in that, seeing the impact I can have as a senior player. He's gone to some amazing new levels and he knows what it's like to not be captain any more and still give back to the team. That's the opportunity that is out there for me. Joe's a good mate of mine and has been really helpful in making that transition.' Buttler, who is the marquee player for Manchester Originals in the Hundred, was speaking at the unveiling of Compare the Market's new mural in the city, bearing his likeness alongside Southern Brave's Chris Jordan, Emma Lamb of Birmingham Phoenix and three aspiring juniors from the Chance to Shine street cricket programme. The tournament is in its final year before the arrival of eight new investment groups, who are set to pay a combined £520million for a seat at the table. Four teams will be tied to groups involved with Indian Premier League franchises and Buttler, arguably the Englishman most associated with that competition, expects big things. Jos Buttler is excited with the direction the Hundred is heading in (Adam Davy/PA 'The level of investment is mindblowing. It's going to be the next evolution of the Hundred,' he said. 'The IPL is enormous, it's a different beast, and the owners will be bringing new ideas, new expertise and they will want to really push things to be the best they can be. 'The calibre of people getting involved, from the IPL to the tech giants, is awesome. It's going to be a really exciting time for English cricket, on and off the field.' :: Jos Buttler was speaking at the unveiling of a new mural commissioned by principal partner of The Hundred, Compare the Market in partnership with the children's charity, Chance to Shine.
