NMMS 2024-25: 292 students selected from Mysuru
A total of 292 students from Mysuru district have been selected. Although the district was allotted 274 seats under this scheme, an additional 18 students have been selected beyond the allocated quota.
Students from classes 9 to 12 who are selected under this scheme will receive ₹12,000 per year, directly credited to their bank accounts.
As many as 78 students from Mysuru rural have been selected, besides 51 from Mysuru South and 42 from T Narasipura. The number of students selected in other taluks and blocks includes Nanjangud (34); Hunsur (24); Mysuru North (22); 18 students each from K.R. Nagar and H.D. Kote, and five students from Periyapatna.
As many as 98 students from Adarsha Vidyalayas have been selected, while 20 from Karnataka Public Schools (KPS), 58 from Government High Schools, and 45 from Government Higher Primary Schools have been selected. With this, 221 students (75.68%) were from government schools and 71 students (24.31%) were from aided institutions, according to an official release.
Students who were selected this year, as well as those already receiving the NMMS in previous years and continuing their studies in classes 9 to 12 in government or aided institutions in 2025–26, can apply through the National Scholarship Portal.
Details such as bank account information can be obtained from the NMMS nodal officers at the respective Block Education Offices or from the heads of their educational institutions, said the release from the principal of the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Mysuru.

New Delhi The Union cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved ₹8146.21 crore for a 700 MW hydroelectric project, Tato-II, in Arunachal Pradesh's Shi Yomi district, a move that comes weeks after China began construction of what is set to be the world's largest river dam on the upper reaches of the Brahmaputra river. Arunachal Pradesh's cabinet had in May approved five mega hydropower projects in Shi Yomi, which borders China, towards the middle northern part of the state. The five projects – Heo, Hirong, Naying, Tato I, and Tato II – would have a total capacity of 2,626 megawatts of electricity. The Chinese dam is located around a 'great bend' on the Yarlung Tsangpo river, which is known in India as the Brahmaputra, a lifeline for Assam. The Siang, which flows through Arunachal Pradesh, is the Brahmaputra's main tributary that connects it to the YarlungTsangpo. The Tato-II project would benefit the state by yielding 12% free power and another one per cent towards Local Area Development Fund, Union information and broadcasting minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said.

Four PCS officers promoted to IAS rank
The Union ministry of personnel on Tuesday promoted four Punjab Civil Services (PCS) officers as Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers. These officers are Rajdeep Singh Brar, Bikramjit Singh Shergill, Harsuhinder Singh Brar and Rubinderjit Singh Brar. The promoted police officers with Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann. These are subject to the outcome of pending cases before the Punjab and Haryana high court and the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), Chandigarh Bench. 9 PPS officers elevated to IPS At least nine Punjab Police Service (PPS) officers have also been promoted to the Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre. The list of promoted officers includes Mandhir Singh, Snehdeep Sharma, Sandeep Goel, Jasdev Singh Sidhu, Sandeep Kumar Sharma, Gurpreet Singh, Rupinder Singh, Sarabjit Singh and Harpreet Singh Jaggi. The promoted officers on Tuesday called on Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann, who congratulated them on their well-deserved elevation. 12,800 enemy properties in India; Bandi seeks full details of progress of such cases in Telangana
Hyderabad: India currently has 12,800 enemy properties across the country, of which the govt has resolved disputes related to 1,427 and brought them under its control. Over 1,300 properties are in Uttar Pradesh, officials informed Union minister for home Bandi Sanjay Kumar during a review meeting on enemy properties. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now 'Enemy property' includes assets such as land, buildings, and other possessions left behind by individuals who migrated to Pakistan or China after the 1965 and 1971 wars, as well as the 1962 Sino-Indian War. The Indian govt confiscated these properties, which are now managed by the Custodian of Enemy Property for India. Officials informed Sanjay Kumar that auctions were held for 616 enemy properties, with the process completed for 313 of them, generating revenue of 107 crore for the govt. There are over 3,300 cases related to enemy properties in courts, with surveys completed for 440 properties. The minister urged officials to focus on quickly resolving disputes related to enemy properties. He instructed them to ensure that surveys and boundary determinations are completed on a war footing. He requested full details on the progress of enemy property cases in Telangana. For states with a large number of enemy properties, he suggested sending letters and conducting meetings on high priority. The minister announced plans to personally visit CEPI offices next month to review the progress. The meeting was attended by officials from India's Custodian of Enemy Property. Sanjay Kumar commended the actions taken by officials in resolving freedom fighters' and enemy properties cases. He instructed that pending pension applications be expedited and resolved by Aug 31. As some cases are pending due to lack of documents from state govts, the minister ordered letters to be sent to states immediately. He also requested for special teams to be sent to states to gather documents and expedite pension approvals.
