Popular supplement recalled after tablets contaminated with salmonella
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has updated its warning about 60-capsule packs of Orgenism Eggshell Membrane Capsules.
All batches of the 500mg per serving capsules are affected by the recall – and people have already fallen ill after taking the capsules.
It's been warned that improper disposal of the product could cause wider public health risks.
A spokesperson for the FSA said: 'The Salmonella found is resistant to several antibiotics and should not be disposed of in household waste nor flushed down the toilet.
'Inaccurate disposal of the product could cause wider public health, animal health or environmental risks therefore it is important to ensure you follow the advice on how to safely dispose of the product provided below.
'If you have bought the above product do not eat it and do not dispose of it in household waste nor flush the capsules down the toilet.
'Instead email team@orgenism.com to obtain a free pre-paid returns envelope and a full refund.' More Trending
Orgenism has been forced to stop selling the capsules on its website as well as on Amazon and eBay.
An investigation into the contamination is ongoing.
Symptoms caused by salmonella usually include fever, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps, and it's recommended that anyone who has consumed the product seeks advice from local healthcare professionals.

Do not eat food recalls: Lidl, Iceland, Tesco and Waitrose
Recalls have been issued on popular products for a variety of reasons, including metal being found in a a breakfast food that may contain insects, and packaging errors resulting in foods presenting serious risks to those with allergies. Below, we have rounded up the ongoing product recalls you should be aware of this week. If you have bought any of the items mentioned below, you need to be aware of these potential health risks. Tesco recall Tesco has issued a 'do not eat' warning to shoppers across the UK after its Free From Meal Kits was shown to contain undeclared soya. The presence of soya, not mentioned on the label, makes it a potential health risk for anyone with an allergy to soya. The affected product is the Tesco Free From Katsu Curry Meal Kit, affecting all products with a best before date up to and including December 12. Chocolate health warning The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued a health warning to any customers who have purchased two types of Dubai-style chocolate bars, which may pose a 'serious health risk'. The FSA has also issued urgent advice to any businesses that may be selling the chocolate in the UK. Denar Limited is recalling Destan Pistazien Crème Dubai Style because it contains milk which is not mentioned on the label. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents. We are informing allergy organisations of the issue. 'Don't buy this product, and if you have bought it, don't eat it, especially if you have a peanut allergy. 'Dispose of the product at home and get in touch with your local Trading Standards in Great Britain or Environmental Health Officers in Northern Ireland, to let them know where you purchased it. 'Food businesses selling Neosis Schokolade Love of Dubai chocolate in the UK, manufactured by NEOSIS, Gida ve Unlu Mam Ltd, are advised to immediately stop sales and to undertake product withdrawals, and where there have been retail sales, to undertake product recalls. 'This is because the product presents a serious risk to anyone with an allergy to peanuts. 'Businesses have been supplied these products by a company called Black Sea Trading Ltd, who have so far been uncontactable. 'As a result, food safety action is required by the food businesses selling these products.' Woodstock recall Woodstock Foods is recalling its Woodstock Vanilla Crème Crowns because of undeclared hazelnuts. The sweet pastry treats, which look like custard-filled Danish pastries, are a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to hazelnuts (nuts). An FSA spokesperson said: "If you have bought the above product and have an allergy to hazelnuts (nuts) do not eat it. Instead return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund. The strawberry and chocolate flavours are affected by the recall, which has been issued because they contain milk not mentioned on the label in English and may also contain nuts (pistachios), peanuts and soya, making them a health risk to anyone with a milk or nut allergy. The affected lollies have the following batch codes: L5123, L5126, L5127, L5128, L5129, L5141 and L5142. An FSA spokesman said: 'Unilever is recalling the above product and has been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations. Granola recall A popular breakfast choice sold at Tesco, Ocado, Amazon and other outlets has been recalled because it may contain insects. Users say there's 'no more fuss with waxing or shaving' when using the device Hair removal can seem like an endless task, so it's no surprise there are a lot of products on the market that claim to help make it easier, but a lot of them come with a pretty hefty price tag. Until now, as one retailer adds discounts on devices in time for summer. Amazon has cut the price of the Braun Silk-épil 9 Flex SkinSpa Epilator down to £159.99, a massive 57% saving from its usual price of £369.99. The product features a 360-degree flexible head, along with a mini shaver, exfoliation brush, massage pad, and can be used both wet and dry. It's said to be able to cut hairs as short as 0.5mm, and that one use will achieve 'an entire month of smooth skin.' The head contains 40 tiny tweezers, and it can run for up to 50 minutes on one charge. It also has two modes - gentle and power. If you're looking for an alternative, Boots has the Panasonic ES-EY90 five-in-one full body epilator kit for £134.99 - £65 down from its usual price of £199.99. It comes with a range of attachments, including a main epilation head with 'double-disc technology ', featuring 60 tweezers, able to cut hairs as short as 0.5mm. It can be used wet or dry and also includes a bikini comb, gentle cap, sonic scrub brush, shaver head, pop-up trimmer, and foot care head. It also features a pressure centre and can run for up to 50 minutes on one charge. If the idea of epilating doesn't appeal, LOOKFANTASTIC has a Silk'n 7 Light-Based Hair Removal Device for £349.30 - down 30 per cent from its usual price of £499. This can be used for the face and body, and includes three attachments, as well as a separate razor and a charging cable. It works by using light to open the pores and remove hairs at the root. Going back to the Braun epilator, it has a 4.7 out of five rating on Amazon. "It works better if you don't press too much on your skin, just gently and not too fast and your skin will be smooth in no time," said one customer. "I absolutely love it and I'm so glad I got it for myself. No more fuss with the waxing or shaving and red spots." Another said: "I love the way the head moves to your body as it gives you a much smoother finish. "Epilators do hurt, however, if you're used to using an epilator ,I think you will find this a lot more comfortable. I also found the smart sensor helpful too." Another users branded it "game-changing". However, some thought the effectiveness did not match its price: "It's uncomfortable to use and stings the legs for the rest of the day. Doesn't last one month, as after three days I had to shave my legs again. "Comes with a bikini line shaver. I cannot justify the price for this product as £370 is extortionate for a product I can only describe as being a value of at most £100."
