Mona Monyane reflects on losing her children, heartbreak and more
Actress Mona Monyane recently opened up about the tragic loss of her children, a fire that destroyed her family home, and the end of her marriage.
Mona was married to fellow actor Khulu Skenjana. In 2020, the pair announced their separation after four years of marriage.
In 2017, they welcomed their first child. When their firstborn was seven months old in 2018, she fell pregnant again, but their second child passed away shortly after birth. At the time, she, her husband, and their firstborn had moved into her family home due to financial struggles.

Speaking to Relebogile Mabotja on the Showmax talk show UnTied, Mona said the experience was painful, but necessary.
'That was the most profoundly painful thing God has ever done to me, but it was necessary. I was going to die in that marriage. I had lost myself to the point where I couldn't recognise who I was when I looked in the mirror. My dreams were gone. I didn't want to act anymore; I thought I had no talent,' she said.
Mona said they tried for another baby after three months of her second baby's passing, but she suffered a miscarriage.
Explaining why she continued trying to salvage the relationship despite all she had endured, she said: 'I wanted to save my marriage. I didn't want to raise my baby alone, and I didn't want to have a single-parent household. And that's what you do in marriage, you fight through the hard stuff.'
Mona said the turning point for her was when her family home burned to ashes a few months after losing her babies.
'There were just circumstances around that fire that didn't make sense to me… It was also how it was handled — when you don't feel supported even in times like that. I cannot keep making excuses for not receiving what I desire out of this marriage.'

She is not only dealing with a partner who's watching her every move, but she also has a past that won't stay buried and a growing attraction that could wreck everything. Reality TV star Wandi Ndlovu is set to appear in court this week after an incident involving her uncle's stabbing in Katlehong, Ekurhuleni, along with other family members. The self-described sugar baby and personality on Showmax's controversial show This Body Works for Me is drawing public attention with the case. The 26-year-old, her mother, and her sister, Ntombifuthi Ndlovu, are being held behind bars following an alleged violent family altercation in Katlehong. This altercation left her uncle, Linda Ndlovu, dead. The trio is expected to make a court appearance tomorrow at Palm Ridge Court as investigations continue. It was allegedly sparked by a noise complaint from Wandi's mother. He was reportedly playing loud music when his sister (Wandi's mom) went to ask him to lower the volume. An argument broke out, and Linda allegedly struck his sister on the head with a golf club. Bleeding and injured, she returned to the main house. That's allegedly when Wandi, her sister Ntombifuthi, and another sister, who is currently in Grade 11 allegedly went to confront their uncle. 'One of them stabbed the uncle during the confrontation,' said a family insider. When paramedics arrived, it was too late to take him to the hospital. The Grade 11 sibling, who is a minor, has since been released from custody. This is especially after a voice recording surfaced online, allegedly of Wandi's aunt (her mother's sister), who was an eyewitness to the entire incident. The late uncle Linda is believed to have been the breadwinner. Wandi relocated and is mostly based in Nigeria and claimed she got married. He was living in the back room and was said to be providing financial support to some members of the family. The house was reportedly newly built by Wandi after her return from Nigeria. She was working as an adult entertainer and had recently BBL surgery and other changes. While South Africans await official police comment, many have taken to social media. They express anger, disbelief, and sorrow over the killing.

Multitasking: Accomplishments include HR degree, owning nail salon, role in reality TV Tessa Louw Tullues from Pretoria East talks about showing up on Showmax when she didn't feel like it and what keeps her filing nails and building her empire. The 37-year-old owner of Smoosh The Salon in Pretoria said if she could be on a reality TV show such as the Mommy Club: Van Die Hoofstad (Pretoria) again, she would do it a hundred times over. 'Who doesn't want to drink wine on a Monday at 12pm with a few girls,' said the mother of two boys. Louw Tullues said one of the biggest challenges of appearing on a reality show was wearing makeup every day. But she realised it was also okay to be too busy for a full glam look. Louw Tullues has learned that you don't have to be TV-ready every day. 'But if you are going through something and you are not feeling yourself, dress up and show up, because one moment could change your whole day or life,' she said. ALSO READ: James Robertson and the legend of Big Blue Louw Tullues, who married her high school sweetheart Eddie 16 years ago, started her first business at the age of 22, Young Nails, then Smoosh, which branched out into Mia's Secret. She was born in Kempton Park and grew up there until her family moved to Pretoria in her standard 6 school year. She went to Waterkloof Hoërskool. 'It was an adjustment coming from a small school and then enrolling in a big school like Waterkloof. It was like the heavens opened up to me because I wasn't used to it.' After completing matric, Louw Tullues studied in Cape Town and obtained a degree in human resources, but quickly realised that it wasn't what she wanted to do. She decided to help her mother out in her nail salon while she figured things out. 'That's where my love for nails started. I completed a nail course before my HR degree and used to make extra spending money as a student doing my friends' nails,' she said. Louw Tullues also imports and distributes Mia's Secret nails and has trained manicurists in the US, including Tom Bachik, who does Jennifer Lopez's and Selena Gomez's nails. 'I have been setting trends in the nail industry internationally, that's why I don't compete with the Joneses. Not every woman has money for a psychologist, but they can make themselves feel better. So if you end up in my chair, I will make sure you walk away happier.' 'My favourite nail style is a Russian almond, because not everybody can do it. It takes me up to four hours compared with a normal set of nails that takes up to 45 minutes.' Despite branching out with nail training courses and product lines, Louw Tullues said she would never stop doing nails herself. 'It keeps me grounded. I earn less when I sit behind my station, but I wouldn't change it for anything, because my girlfriends visit me and I get paid for it,' she said. Louw Tullues has two guilty pleasures: a girl's night out and eating out with friends or family. Her favourite meal is a classic Sunday lunch – oxtail, rice, potatoes and veggies. 'I don't drink coffee or tea, but love a glass of Chardonnay.' While Louw Tullues said she enjoyed the camera, lights and action of reality TV, she was focusing on herself, her children and her business. When she isn't in the salon or front of the cameras, she is at the rugby field cheering for her son or helping with school work. She's not a morning person and has to drag herself out of bed at 5am to prepare the lunch boxes and get ready for the day, which includes anything from nail clients to product meetings or TV shoots. Louw Tullues said she is softer than she appeared on TV screens. 'I don't hold grudges or have enemies, except when it comes to my husband and kids. 'There was a lot of childish nonsense going on in the show. 'In real life, you don't cause a scene with someone because of gossip about someone. 'Everybody is allowed to have an opinion,' she said. Louw Tullues decided to do the show during a very dark phase in her life, but said she would do it 100 times over again. 'It was to inspire other women to do the same.' The biggest lesson she learned from it is to trust herself.
