Minute's silence held at Croke Park for Crossmaglen's Tom McKay

Mr McKay, who passed away following a short illness on Sunday, was the public relations officer (PRO) of Crossmaglen Rangers GAA club for 20 years.
The County Down native became PRO at 60 in 1996 and stayed in the role until he was 81. In a past interview with this paper, he said he took the job on a 'temporary basis.'
He was part of a key period for the club when Crossmaglen Rangers won 13 Armagh Senior Football Championships in a row from 1996 to 2008 - a record the club still holds.
During this time, the team also won seven Ulster Club Championship titles and four All-Ireland Club Championship titles.
Crossmaglen Rangers said they were 'deeply saddened' by his passing and paid tribute to his long service.
The club stated: 'The Executive, players, members and supporters of Crossmaglen Rangers are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of a true Ranger.
'Tom, PRO for 20 years, lotto promoter, a true supporter and dear friend- he represented the black and amber with pride and distinction, and we thank Tom for his long and dedicated service.
'He was immensely proud of his daughters, Aine and Sinead, son-in-law Joey, and grandson Aaron when they togged out for the Rangers.'
Newry Shamrocks GAC, where he also served as a former secretary prior to his tenure in Crossmaglen, paid tribute to the 'true Gael.'
In a statement, the club wrote: 'Tom dedicated countless years to our club, working tirelessly behind the scenes with quiet strength, humility, and deep passion for our games.
'His commitment shaped generations of players and volunteers, and his legacy will live on in every corner of Páirc Esler.
'Later, Tom continued his remarkable service with Crossmaglen Rangers, where he was equally admired and respected. Few individuals leave a mark on two great clubs — but Tom was no ordinary man.'
The club added: 'To his family, we offer our heartfelt condolences. Thank you for sharing him with us. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam. Rest easy, Tom. You will never be forgotten.'
Among other roles, Mr McKay served as chair of the board of governors at St Joseph's High School, where he helped campaign for a new school building. The new facility opened in 2023.
At the time, he described the new school as the end of a 'long struggle' to upgrade the 60-year-old building, aiming to 'enhance facilities and ensure young people of South Armagh are educated in a building fit for purpose.'
St Joseph's High School also thanked Mr McKay for his efforts, saying, 'We would like to take this opportunity to thank Tom for everything he has done for St Joseph's High School.'
For those wishing to pay their respects, the funeral will take place on Wednesday at St Patrick's Church, Crossmaglen, with Requiem Mass at 11am.
