Local Singer Naim Daniel Appears In Court Following Sexual Assault Allegations
Earlier this month, the internet was in meltdown after allegations surfaced that a popular Malaysian star had been arrested for sexual assault of a minor. While there's no definite name to the case yet, singer Naim Daniel has emerged as a major suspect.
On Tuesday morning (17th June 2025), at around 8.34am, the singer appeared at the Putrajaya Sessions Court. While Naim made no mention of why he was there, it's believed the star is facing charges of sexually assaulting a minor. Despite the allegations, the 'Projek: High Council' actor, whose real name is Muhammad Naim Daniel bin Baharin, appeared calm and greeted the attending press.
For those unaware of the issue, in early June, news outlets reported that a local male celebrity was arrested for raping a 17-year-old. The incident reportedly took place in a hotel in Selangor. According to reports, the suspect and the victim had known each other for some time. Following the news, the case sparked widespread discussion, with many netizens speculating who the male artist could be.
Amongst all the speculation, Naim Daniel was frequently mentioned as a suspect. While the star has kept mum on the issue, he hasn't updated his social media since the case blew up, leading to more suspicion. He also wouldn't share much detail during his appearance at the Sessions Court. Soon after he arrived, he entered the courtroom as the proceedings would begin at 9am.
Meanwhile, netizens have shared reactions to the case and Naim Daniel's alleged involvement. Most comments expressed outrage and disappointment towards the star, noting that he had a clean-cut image as a celebrity. After his court appearance, the criticism grew, with more calling for a harsh sentence. However, some fans still expressed support for the star and hoped he would be proven innocent.
The case is currently investigated under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 (Act 792). As of writing, the proceedings are still ongoing. What are your thoughts on this?

Report: S'wakian duo slain in Cheras had triad ties, one allegedly involved in fatal Nov 7 shooting at Bintulu hotel
Screengrabs of a video show two men shot dead by unknown assailants outside a shopping mall in Cheras just after midnight on June 17, 2025. — Photo via Facebook/Mohd Hafiz KUCHING (June 28): The two Sarawakian men gunned down by unknown assailants outside a Cheras shopping mall early Tuesday are said to have links to the underworld, with one of the dead allegedly involved in the fatal shooting of a man at a Bintulu hotel on Nov 7 last year. See Hua Daily News , citing multiple sources, said the duo, aged 44 and 42, were allegedly key figures in triads operating in Bintulu and Sibu. Both had prior criminal records, with one of them having at least four including for murder, rioting, and possessing weapons during a riot. The report stated that following the Bintulu shooting, the pair went into hiding in Kuala Lumpur. The authorities, however, have yet to confirm these details, it added. According to earlier news reports, the two men were shot multiple times on their bodies and heads by a group of unidentified individuals, who rushed at the pair as they and other individuals were about to enter a vehicle to leave the shopping mall at Jalan Loke Yew. Security camera footage at the mall showed the shooting was perpetrated by five persons, with the incident lasting about 30 seconds. The Nov 7 Bintulu hotel incident claimed the life of a 36-year-old man, identified by police as Peter Ling Deng Sing from Sibu, who was shot and slashed to death at the fourth floor car park. Two men – Malaysian Eric Tiong Huong Yew, 36, and Bruneian Alvin Chong Han Khiong, 43 – were arrested by police in Miri a few hours after the shooting and charged in the Bintulu Magistrates' Court on Nov 21. At the time, police said they were hunting for two more suspects involved in the incident. Cheras shooting gangsters lead Sibu triad

Is it worthwhile to have face, identity viralled online for embezzling a mere RM60k?
'BERSIH, cekap dan amanah.' (Clean, efficient and trustworthy) Once upon a time, that was the creed many Malaysian employers looked for in staff. They still do but with less success perhaps as highlighted in a post on Facebook (FB). Detailing how a staff has embezzled RM60,000 of his company's funds, Man Chong who is the founder of SOFAMANN – a furniture outlet with two branches in Kuantan and Bentong (Pahang) respectively – exposed the alleged suspect's name, photo and identity card number alongside a warning to others to NOT hire this man. Editor's Note: More details of the nature of embezzlement can be found on the Instagram video shared by Man Chong View this post on Instagram A post shared by MAN CHONG (@ The poster went on to leave an invitation for the alleged thief to have a dialogue on how to re-pay the stolen funds. But somehow one gets the feeling that such invite will not be taken up. That Man Chong's FB post has since generated almost 9.6K likes, 562 comments and nearly 1.9K shares at the time of writing is itself an indication that the alleged crook's face and identity are going viral. Assuming that the allegations are true, it does make one wonder why one would push his luck to steal such a meagre amount of money. For RM60,000, he now has a police report lodged against him with his reputation in tatters as news of his misdeeds go viral. This was when some netizens counselled that the most dangerous person in any organisation is the one who knows the inner workings of a company intimately. That the poster wholly nodded would insinuate that the alleged crook fell within this category. However, one commenter pointed out that it was whether a person has a fear of God. Such a person would not steal even if they knew the inner workings of a company. This being Malaysia, racial stereotyping is never far from the surface. One commenter claimed that such incidences usually involved Malays who would also 'steal' the boss's spouse! But this observation was quickly repudiated by others who postulated that such criminal-types came from all sorts of backgrounds and ethnicities. One netizen shared an incident whereby a staff absconded with an even smaller amount of RM30,000. Most illogical, she claimed, is that the customer willingly transferred the money into the embezzler's personal account just to save RM5,000 in the pretext of staff purchase (the wrongdoer has since fled to Thailand)! Lodge a police report, counselled one netizen. That way other companies are alerted that the person has a criminal record, hence will not hire him. Given the way the internet – and in particular social media works – it would be no surprise if the alleged embezzler is apprehended or at least spotted elsewhere. Is it worth it having a criminal record or having reputation tarnished for such a sum? It would appear that there are those who are willing to risk it regardless of online infamy. One netizen gave the most damning verdict of all by pointing out that nobody these days is 100% trustworthy. Sad but true. – June 18, 2025
