IMPACT ON SEASON
Lions fans were hit with a couple of Monday-morning, jump scares with Ragnow's pec tear and Montgomery's initially-diagnosed-as-season-ending knee. All's well that ends well though, as there were no serious season-enders and no long-term absences.
Even the short-term absences had minimal impact as there was healthy, quality depth. Jahmyr Gibbs excelled in Montgomery's absence. Dan Skipper performed admirably with Decker out. Christian Mahogany filled in nicely for both Glasgow and Zeitler.
WHAT SHOULD WE MAKE OF THE OFFENSE'S GOOD FORTUNE?
An important takeaway is that it's hard to blame external factors on the defensive injuries when those same factors were present for the healthy offense. Both sides of the ball played on the same fields, trained under the same strength & conditioning staff, and were treated by the same medical team.
More than likely, luck is the reason for the stark difference in health between the offense and the defense. Having Lady Luck on your side may be more important than anything.

ANY OFFSEASON INJURY CONCERNS?
To this point, there have been no major injuries this offseason which continues the healthy, hot-streak for the offense.
Of minor concern is an unexpected, offseason knee "clean-up" surgery for Amon-Ra St. Brown who didn't miss a game all last year. A clean-up often means a meniscus cartilage trim and clearing out of loose bodies in the joint. If that's indeed what happened, the severity of any cartilage damage is extremely variable, and the impact is hard to predict. In the short-term, he is likely to be fine.
St. Brown was limited at voluntary OTA in June, but stated he should be ready for training camp. While there are no significant short-term concerns, his performance this season will be something to keep an eye on.
OUTLOOK
The good news going into the 2025 season is that all offensive starters and key reserves are expected to be healthy for training camp and the start of the season.
The bad news is that the immutable law of probabilities may result in some injury regression-to-the-mean in 2025. This cuts both ways though. While the offense likely won't be as blessed as last year, the defense likely won't be as cursed.

Coming off the bench, Judon could likely still do some damage for a contending team. We like him as a low-risk flier for a pass-rushing committee. Possible Teams: Lions, Bengals, Chiefs Za'Darius Smith Smith remains a very dependable edge-rusher at this stage of his career, as he totaled nine sacks last season for the Cleveland Browns and Detroit Lions. A return to Detroit might be a smart move for both sides. Possible Teams: Lions, Packers, Bengals Preston Smith Smith split time between the Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers last year, totaling 4.5 sacks last season. While he had a down 2024 compared to his usual standards, he should still be able to contribute in the right scheme. Perhaps 2025 could be a comeback season for the veteran pass-rusher? Possible Teams: Bengals, Rams, Ravens Ogbo Okoronkwo Okoronkwo tallied three sacks last season with the Browns, as he can provide a solid pop off the bench. Top Scottish designer creates tartan for Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games
AWARD-winning fashion designer Siobhan Mackenzie has created a bespoke tartan for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games. Mackenzie, who has made outfits for the likes of Alan Cumming and Justin Bieber, has made an official tartan that features the vivid Glasgow 2026 blue, pink and purple tones against a steel grey base as a nod to Glasgow's rich industrial history. It will be made in Scotland, using local textiles and manufacturers, and its first appearance will be on the clothing of the Games mascot – whose identity will be revealed later this month. Mackenzie will also design a bespoke tartan for Team Scotland athletes and officials. There is just one year to go until more than 3000 athletes compete in a 10-sport programme across four of the city's iconic venues. READ MORE: Fans will be able to buy official Glasgow 2026 tartan merchandise, and it will be added to the Scottish Register of Tartans. Mackenzie said: 'I feel honoured to be designing a tartan for such a momentous occasion in my home country. 'When I graduated as a fashion design student in 2014, I took on a role as a tailoring technician for the technical officials of the Games. At that point, designing the official tartan for the Games seemed like a pipedream – so this is truly a full circle moment. 'I love weaving stories into tartan design and while many people might be expecting a blue or green base, I looked at Glasgow's rich history and felt inspired by the shipbuilding stories. No Welsh players in a British and Irish Lions test team for the first time in 129 years
BRISBANE, Australia (AP) — An important element in the great tradition of uniting players from Britain and Ireland to form the Lions will be missing Saturday when there's no Welshman in the test squad for the first time in 129 years. It'll be the might of Ireland, England and Scotland against Australia. Back-rower Jac Morgan was the only Welshman left in the touring group in Australia when scrumhalf Tomos Williams injured his hamstring and was ruled out of the series. Morgan's impressive appearances in the leadup to the three-test series against Australia weren't enough to earn him a spot in a back row comprising of Irish No. 8 Jack Conan and blindside flanker Tadhg Beirne and England openside Tom Curry. England's Ollie Chessum and Ben Earl were picked as cover off the bench. In announcing his match-day 23 on Thursday, Lions head coach Andy Farrell said Morgan got 'as close as you could imagine' to selection. He said he was 'gutted' for players like Morgan who were in good form and could have been picked but missed out because of the incredible depth in some areas and for the balance of the squad. 'Shows where we're at as a group,' Farrell said. 'That's the right balance for the first test.' Beirne is a big game player, strong on turnovers and ball-carrying, and complements Conan, Farrell said, while Curry has the kind of 'engine' needed to win a test. Farrell said there'd been 'very vigorous debate" in the composition of the team but ultimately all the selectors settled on the combination. The BBC described the selection as 'yet another sign ... to highlight Welsh rugby's fall from grace," adding that Morgan's absence against Australia 'rubs salt into an already hurtful wound.' But Welsh rugby has been in serious decline since the 2023 World Cup, where they beat the two-time champion Australians. Wales' 18-match losing streak — tied for the longest by a major rugby team in test history — ended only last weekend in a 31-22 win over Japan. Former Lion and Wales international Dafydd James told the BBC the Lions test team 'says exactly where Welsh rugby is, and it's worrying." 'It's sobering and a sad indictment of the way the game has gone in Wales."
