Llandrindod Wells twinning association pair visit Germany
Kelsham Hanna, alongside immediate-past mayor Marcia Morgan, attended the Stadtfest in Bad Rappenau.
During the six-day visit, the pair experienced a bird of prey display at a historic castle, explored a local salt mine, embarked on a heritage railway journey, and relaxed in Bad Rappenau's thermal baths.
The festival, featuring more than 20 live bands on two stages, saw crowds and numerous stalls selling local produce, alongside beer tents.
A highlight of the visit was when Ms Morgan was invited to open the Stadtfest with the crew of a German submarine from Kiel and the deputy mayor of Bad Rappenau.
The visit saw both British representatives enjoying the company of German and French twinning association members.
In a bid to expand their operations, the association is currently on the lookout for new members.

British holidaymakers terrified after plane tyre explodes on take-off
To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video A plane tyre exploded during take off leaving British holidaymakers terrified in a one-in-10,000 take off accident. Passenger Kris Sadler was left feeling petrified after the tyre exploded sending tremors down the TUI flight. He was returning from Corfu to Birmingham with his wife Katie and sons Olly, 13, and Zach, 9. Footage shows the aircraft speeding down the run way when it suddenly jolts and becomes unbalanced, shaking as it lifts off. Kris said: 'It was scary. There were bits of tyre flying everywhere. The whole wing was rippling. 'I knew something was wrong but the crew took two hours to tell us. 'I was just trying to hold it together for the kids – and my wife was trying to hold it together. And she did until we landed and then it all came out. 'I was saying to them, 'it's all ok' but I was thinking, 'bloody hell if this goes wrong'.' The pilot eventually told passengers they would be landing in the brace position as they had lost a tyre. A black military-type jet appeared next to them to scout out the extent of damage to the landing gear, and stayed with them until they were back on the ground. Kris said: 'And as we came into touch down the crew were saying, 'heads down, heads down, heads down' repeatedly which kind of makes you panic more. 'It was pretty crazy. It's a one-in-10,000 chance of a plane tyre blowing.' Emergency crews were already on the ground as they landed, and hosed down the broken wheel on touch down. More Trending 'It looked like there were sparks when we landed but the landing was very good,' Kris said. 'It was a bit bumpy because it was running on a flat tyre. All the passengers cheered and clapped when we landed. 'The pilot came out and bowed. We may never have been in danger – or it might have been very dangerous and the pilot just pulled it off. 'There were some tears – but it was great to get back on solid ground and all safe.' Get in touch with our news team by emailing us at webnews@ For more stories like this, check our news page. Florian Wirtz lands iconic Liverpool shirt number after furious 'respect' outburst
Premier League champions Liverpool unveiled their kit for the 2025/26 season on Friday with German midfielder Florian Wirtz among the players to be handed a new squad number in the process Florian Wirtz will claim Liverpool' s iconic No 7 shirt with his favoured No 10 already taken. The German midfielder was signed for a fee that could reach £116m from Bayer Leverkusen earlier this summer. Even before arriving at Anfield, there was already drama over the squad number that he would don on Merseyside. It was suggested that Wirtz was keen to wear the No 10 shirt. The issue? That number is currently occupied by Argentina midfielder Alexis Mac Allister. A frustrated Wirtz took to social media to debunk those claims. Writing on his Instagram story, the Germany star wrote: 'Who says I want the 10. I respect players. Don't believe everything what's written." While Wirtz will not be donning the same number he wore at Leverkusen, the 22-year-old has landed another iconic number following the unveiling of Liverpool's new home kit from Adidas. He will wear the No 7 throughout the coming season, with the shirt having been left vacant following Luis Diaz 's move to German giants Bayern Munich. Ironically, Wirtz actually played a huge role in the winger's switch to the Bundesliga. Speaking at his Bayern unveiling, Diaz said: "I know what kind of football is played here. 'Florian told me that the Bundesliga has a high intensity, comparable to the Premier League. The stadiums are always full. Florian wished me a lot of luck.' Away from Diaz, Wirtz follows in the name of a whole host of iconic Liverpool players to wear the shirt. Steve McManaman, Peter Beardsley, Luis Suarez and Harry Kewell are among the former Reds stars to have claimed the number during their careers at Anfield. Liverpool fans have since taken to social media to hail the decision to give Wirtz the number seven. One fan said: 'Wirtz 7 just looks right,' while another added: 'Wirtz 7 just looks so good.' Will Liverpool win the Premier League title this season? Share your thoughts in the comments below Other supporters are expecting big things from Wirtz with the number on his back. Another fan said: 'Flo Wirtz takes on the iconic Liverpool No.7 shirt. Once worn by Keegan, Dalglish, Beardsley, McManaman, Kewell, Smicer, Suarez, Milner, legacy continues..' A final supporter added: 'Wirtz given the iconic number 7 to take us to glory and win our seventh UCL.' Wirtz will certainly hope to enjoy a positive start to life with his new squad number. Following a friendly with Spanish side Athletic Bilbao, he then has the chance to secure a debut trophy in the Community Shield clash with Crystal Palace. Liverpool then get their Premier League season underway against Bournemouth.

Jeremy Clarkson ‘not enjoying farming this week' after bovine TB found on farm
The TV star, 65, said he is also dealing with 'a very sickly calf', and discovered that one of his puppies had died on Friday morning. On Thursday, he wrote on X, formerly Twitter, that a pregnant cow had contracted the disease on his farm near Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire. Bad news from Diddly Squat. We've gone down with TB. Everyone here is absolutely devastated. — Jeremy Clarkson (@JeremyClarkson) July 31, 2025 Speaking to Times Radio Breakfast, he said: 'It's awful, it is awful. You have a test every six months on the cows and then you sort of become blase, it's a hypothetical threat. 'And then the vet looks up, as he did yesterday lunchtime, and said 'I'm really sorry this one's failed'. 'So that means we're now locked down and it's just dreadful, absolutely dreadful.' Cattle which fail a TB test, or animals that have inconclusive results for two consecutive tests, are classed as 'reactors', and must be isolated and slaughtered. Clarkson added: 'It's only been not even 24 hours since I found out and it occupies my mind. Well it was occupying my mind but I got up this morning and found one of my puppies has died. 'And we've got a very sickly calf. Honestly, farming? I'm not enjoying it this week.' Asked in the comments of his X post about the prize bull called Endgame, which Clarkson bought recently for £5,500, he said: 'His test was 'inconclusive'. I couldn't bear it if we lost him.' In a follow-up post, he said: 'The farm is NOT shut. We just can't buy or sell any cows.' Jeremy Clarkson (Aaron Chown/PA) Bovine TB is recognised as a problem which devastates farm businesses and is mainly spread through close contact when cattle breathe in droplets of mucus containing Mycobacterium bovis bacteria exhaled from an infectious animal. Badgers can carry the disease and culling has long been a part of the Government response to the crisis, despite criticism from wildlife and animal welfare campaigners, such as Queen guitarist Sir Brian May. The Government said in June it will not be extending the badger cull and retains its commitment to end the practice before the next election. Oxfordshire is an 'edge area' for bovine TB, meaning it is a buffer zone between high risk and low risk areas – so most herds are subject to six monthly TB tests by default. There have been several cases in the area of Oxfordshire near to Diddly Squat Farm in recent weeks, according to ibTB, a mapping platform for the disease in England and Wales. The every-day running of Clarkson's farm is documented in a Prime Video series, which first aired in 2021, and brings to light common problems faced by British farmers. Clarkson has become a vocal supporter of farmers and attended a protest in London against the Government's move to introduce inheritance tax on farmland in November 2024.
