In investing, few signals are as powerful as the united conviction of promoters, foreign institutional investors (FIIs), and domestic institutional investors (DIIs). In the June quarter, 21 companies earned this vote of confidence from the 'holy trinity' — even though their recent price performance has been subdued. When all three increase their stakes in a company, it usually means they believe in its business, growth story, and long-term value. According to experts, this indicates that investors are quietly buying more shares, drawn by attractive prices. In Autoline Industries , promoter shareholding increased by 343 basis points in Q1, while DIIs significantly increased their stake by 500 basis points. FIIs also inched up their holding, though by a modest 5 bps. The stock, however, has fallen 35% in 2025 so far.In Zee Media Corporation (30% YTD fall), promoters boosted their stake by 228 bps, accompanied by a 50 bps rise in DII holdings and a notable 232 bps increase from FIIs.Meanwhile, in Nahar Poly Films , which has gained 15% this year, promoters rose 2 bps of stake, while FIIs and DIIs increased 7 bps and 30 bps stake respectively.Promoters rose 94 bps stake in Bandhan Bank (4% YTD gain); meanwhile, FII and DII increased stake in the banking stock by 161 bps and 2 bps, respectively.Other stocks that attracted the trio's interest in the June quarter included Jindal Steel & Power, Rain Industries, Dhampur Sugar Mills Ambika Cotton Mills , and Aavas Financiers According to Kranthi Bathini, Director-Equity Strategy at WealthMills Securities, promoters buying their company shares is always a positive indicator. It shows their confidence in the medium-to-long-term business prospects. When FIIs and DIIs — the key investment channels — also participate, it reinforces the belief in the company's potential. This combination further gives investors a clear signal of underlying strength. However, in stark contrast to the above data, the private promoter shareholding in Indian markets fell to an 8-year low of 40.58% in June 2025 from 40.81% in March, with net sales of Rs 54,732 crore, per PRIME Database. While promoter buying signals confidence, selling can stem from reasons like profit-taking, debt reduction, or meeting regulatory norms, according to Pranav Haldea, Managing Director, PRIME Database GroupFII shareholding also slipped to a 13-year low of 17.04% despite net inflows of Rs 38,674 crore, while DII holdings hit a record 17.82% after Rs 1.68 lakh crore in net investments. This rare alignment of promoter, FII, and DII buying suggests strong underlying confidence and potential long-term opportunities.

India, South Korea resolve to set ‘new industrial ambition' in high-tech sectors

India and South Korea on Saturday resolved to expand their strategic partnership by setting new 'industrial ambition' in the areas of semiconductor, defence, clean energy, and artificial intelligence. Ways to ramp up the overall bilateral cooperation figured prominently in talks between External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and his visiting South Korean counterpart, Cho Hyun. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said Jaishankar and Hyun agreed to set new industrial ambitions, especially in high-tech sectors such as AI, semiconductors, clean energy, shipbuilding, and the defence industry. The ministers took stock of bilateral cooperation, including in the political, security, trade and economy, technological, and people-to-people domains, it said. In a social media post, Jaishankar said, 'Held productive discussions on advancing our bilateral cooperation in trade, manufacturing, maritime and people-to-people exchanges as well as new opportunities in AI, semiconductors, clean energy and defence.' Jaishankar said he and Hyun also exchanged perspectives on the Indo-Pacific region and contemporary global developments. 'Appreciated our deepening convergences and growing engagement as our Special Strategic Partnership completes 10 years,' he said. In his opening remarks at the meeting, Jaishankar also thanked Seoul for its condemnation of the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. Jaishankar made a mention of Seoul's support to an Indian parliamentary delegation that visited South Korea in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor. 'You have been barely a month in the job (as the foreign minister), the fact that you are here literally a day after your National Day, and our National Day, says a lot really about the value we attach to the relationship,' Jaishankar said. The MEA said Jaishankar and Hyun reaffirmed the strong and growing 'special strategic partnership' between the two countries. The partnership is rooted in shared democratic values, mutual trust, shared economic interests, and commitment to regional and global peace and stability, it said.

Nexus with contractors? GDA set to transfer 76 supervisors

Ghaziabad: Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) is set to transfer 76 supervisors following persistent complaints of collusion with contractors in facilitating illegal construction. Residents also allege that supervisors, working in tandem with private builders, demand hefty sums to overlook unauthorised floors. GDA has around 200 supervisors in the seven zones under it, but its manual does not specify a maximum tenure for postings before an employee can be shifted. Many of the supervisors on the list have been posted in the same zone for more than five years. Officials admitted that supervisors posted in the same zones for years had formed "unholy alliances" with local realtors, and said the reshuffle aimed to curb the spread of illegal colonies, which have risen from 321 in 2021 to 351, occupying around 3,000 acres. Supervisors are also tasked with checking the quality of construction materials and ensuring that all work is carried out in line with the approved plan. However, their nexus with contractors runs deep. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like A Teaspoon Before Bed Burns Body Fat - Fit Into Your Clothes Again! Health & Family Click Here Undo A Vaishali resident told TOI, a contractor allegedly sought Rs 40,000 on behalf of a GDA official to allow his family to construct an additional floor in their two-storey flat. "We hired a private contractor, prepared a cost estimate, and even had construction material delivered," he said. But that evening, a GDA supervisor reached their house and warned the family that the work violated regulations. Unsure how to proceed, the family considered abandoning the plan. "But the contractor assured me it could be 'managed' for Rs 40,000. Construction went ahead without further interference. Only later did I realise the nexus between contractors and supervisors," he added. According to a GDA official, despite checks and balances, illegal construction has been unabated in the city. "We deduced that many of the supervisors are working in the same zone for years and have developed a nexus with contractors, allowing illegal construction. This nexus needs to be broken, for which GDA has prepared a list of 76 supervisors who will be transferred to other zones."
