Which '90s Stars Have Disappeared Today?

Buzz Feed2 days ago
The '90s had plenty of breakout stars who are still booked and busy today, like Jennifer Aniston and George Clooney. However, some major players who were poised to be the "next big thing" seem to be enjoying life mostly out of the spotlight these days.
For example, Jonathan Taylor Thomas, though once a teen heartthrob, decided to leave Home Improvement in 1998 so he could go to college. He never returned to the spotlight in quite the same way, but he later said that exiting the show had been a "good decision."
Or Yasmeen Ghauri, the model who was scouted while working at McDonald's. She retired from the fashion world after getting married in the mid-'90s, and now she's an advocate for breast cancer research and environmental causes.
Or A Little Princess star and heiress to the family who founded Hyatt hotels, Liesel Matthews. She retired from acting in 2000 and went on to co-found an impact investment organization with her husband.
So, in your opinion, which '90s star once seemed destined for greatness, only to be basically "forgotten" today — whether by their own choice or not? Why do you think their careers turned out the way they did? Let us know in the comments or in the anonymous comments box below, and you may be featured in an upcoming BuzzFeed Community post!

Jennifer Aniston's Romance With ‘Sexy' Jim Curtis Is ‘Moving Pretty Fast': Friend

Jennifer Aniston's romance with Jim Curtis is already getting hot and heavy. "It's new, but things are moving pretty fast," a close friend of the actress exclusively tells Us Weekly. "They just get along so well." It helps that Curtis, 49, is into health and fitness like Aniston, 56, who told in April that she is "the strongest" and "the most in shape" that she has "ever been" in her life. "She thinks he is sexy and takes care of his body. That's important to her," the friend shares. "She works out daily and takes such good care of her body. It's great he does too." Inside Jennifer Aniston's 'Serious' Romance With Jim Curtis — And What They've 'Bonded Over' After Aniston and Curtis were photographed together for the first time over the 4th of July weekend, Us broke the news that they are officially dating. "Jen is so happy right now, and Jim is part of the reason," the pal says. "He's like a breath of fresh air, and all her close friends are 1,000 percent loving them together." While Curtis is not an A-list celebrity like Aniston's exes, who include Brad Pitt, John Mayer and Justin Theroux, the hypnotist is no stranger to Hollywood, having worked with Chrissy Teigen, Miranda Kerr and Julianne Hough, among other stars, in the past. "Jim is so cool, laid-back and smart and doesn't try to compete with Jen in any way," the friend tells Us. "He comes from his own world and is successful, so he fits in Jen's world well." Jennifer Aniston's Dating History: A Complete Timeline of Her Exes and Flings Jason Bateman, who has been close with Aniston for years and worked with her on films including 2010's The Switch and 2011's Horrible Bosses, is particularly fond of Curtis after joining the new couple on their PDA-filled holiday vacation to Mallorca, Spain. "Jason Bateman and his wife [Amanda Anka] love him," the pal reveals. "Jim and Jason are friends, and Jim thinks Jason is hilarious." Like Bateman, Aniston is "constantly making [Curtis] laugh," according to the confidant, who says the Friends alum "can relax around Jim and be herself." "Jim is no drama and a grounded guy who has his life together. It is casual, but she really likes him and is very open to a serious thing," the friend tells Us. "We think he may be the perfect guy for her. She deserves all the happiness and love from a good guy, and so far he is checking all the boxes." Everything Jennifer Aniston Has Said About Love, Relationships, Heartbreak and More Us Weekly has reached out to Aniston's rep, Bateman's rep and Curtis for comment. Multiple sources previously told Us that mutual friends introduced the Morning Show star and the life coach, who started out as friends themselves before their relationship turned romantic. Curtis is the first person Aniston has publicly dated since her 2017 split from Theroux, 53, whom she married in 2015. Solve the daily Crossword

Jennifer Aniston Says Filming 2006's ‘The Break Up' Was ‘Kind Of Cathartic' After Brad Pitt Divorce

Jennifer Aniston knows The Break Up was a case of art imitating life. '[When making the movie], I might have just gone through a separation [that] I'm sure nobody remembers,' Aniston, 56, quipped to Vanity Fair in a YouTube video posted on Monday, August 11, referring to her divorce from Brad Pitt. 'It was kind of cathartic to go right from that [into shooting].' She added, 'When they came to me with the offer, they were a little nervous about making the offer 'cause they thought, 'Is it insensitive? Is it inappropriate?' But, I actually thought [it] was a great opportunity. I knew it would actually benefit me emotionally just as a human being and also serve the script and the character pretty well.' Aniston and Pitt, now 61, were married from 2000 to 2005. The next year, Aniston starred opposite Vince Vaughn in The Break Up, a film following a former couple trying to get the other to move out of their dreamy, shared apartment via outlandish antics. Jennifer Aniston Addresses Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie 'Love Triangle' 'We had one of the best summers shooting this movie,' Aniston recalled to Vanity Fair. 'A lot of this movie was Vince and I, we spent two weeks with the writers … and we would read through the scene, and we would improv the scene. Then, they would just write as fast as they could. This whole movie was a result of those two weeks.' She continued, 'It also allowed for a lot of real conversations that couples have, which I think is why [the movie] hit home for so many people.' After Aniston and Pitt's divorce, they each got remarried. The Morning Show star wed Justin Theroux in 2015, three years before they separated. Pitt, meanwhile, was married to Angelina Jolie from 2014 to 2019. Aniston and Pitt are now dating Jim Curtis and Ines de Ramon, respectively. Everything Jennifer Aniston Has Said About Love, Relationships, Heartbreak and More Speaking about Aniston and Curtis, a source told Us last month: 'They are being super private but have been spending a lot of time together. They are happy and really into each other.' According to the insider, Aniston and hypnotherapist Curtis met through mutual friends and 'really hit it off.' 'They've been hanging out a lot, but very much on the DL at her home in L.A.,' the source added to Us. 'It's very Zen, and she has always been very much into that. They're a good match.' Aniston and Curtis have both remained coy about their blossoming romance, though the actress has 'liked' several of Curtis' Instagram uploads and even posted a copy of his 2024 book, Shift: Quantum Manifestation Guide, in an Instagram carousel earlier this summer. 'I have a real struggle, truthfully, about what to and not to share,' Aniston quipped to Vanity Fair about keeping her love life private. 'And also, social media is a constant struggle for me.' McDonald's in Japan nixes Happy Meal Pokemon card promotion after collectors ditch untouched food, trash at stores

McDonald's locations in Japan were forced to cancel a Happy Meal promotion featuring limited edition Pokemon cards because collectors swarmed stores — leaving behind piles of untouched food and trash, according to a report. The golden arches announced that two limited edition cards would be included in each 'Happy Set' sold in Japan, which retail for roughly $3.50, according to the Associated Press. Each 'Happy Set' — the Japan's 'Happy Meal' equivalent — was guaranteed to have a Pikachu card, which featured art of the rat-like critter reaching for a burger. Cutthroat card collectors took advantage of the offer — flocking to locations and buying out the 'Happy Sets' solely for the collectible card. Many of the card sharks simply dumped their food in front of the restaurants after making away with their Pokemon memorabilia which was intended to be a promotion for children, according to CNN. Those cards were then reportedly relisted en masse online with sellers asking for as much as $28. There are roughly 3,000 McDonald's locations in Japan, according to the company. Bloomberg via Getty Images McDonald's said they would not abide profiteering and wastefulness and quickly shut down the promotion. 'We do not believe in abandoning and discarding food. This situation goes against our longtime philosophy that we have cherished as a restaurant to 'offer a fun dining experience for children and families,'' the company said in a statement obtained by CNN. 'We sincerely accept that our preparations had not been adequate.' The company said that for the next Pokemon promotion they will limit the number each person could buy and end online orders. Many Pikachu cards online can sell for over $1,000 —- with the most expensive Pikachu card ever sold going to streamer Logan Paul for $5.27 million, which he later lost. Many card collectors ordered their 'Happy Sets' online and bought out the stock meant for children. X/@sikasika1122 Last week, Milwaukee Brewers rookie all-star phenom, pitcher Jacob Misiorowksi, went viral when he pulled a rare Charizard card out of a booster Pokemon pack while sitting in the clubhouse after beating the Mets.
