He said that there are currently 194 under-trial cases under the POCSO Act in various district courts across the state. The CBI had tracked the activities of Lalrampana using cyber intelligence, forensic tools and international co-operation mechanisms. After registering the case on May 30, the CBI pin-pointed his location and raided his premises in Aizawl on June 4 during which incriminated digital devices were seized. The agency alleged that the accused was creating, collecting, storing and uploading child sexual abuse material , in violation of laws. Subsequent forensic examination revealed a substantial cache of child abuse content, including graphic images and videos, a CBI spokesperson had said earlier. These materials were corroborated with data from Interpol's International Child Sexual Exploitation database as well as Cyber Tipline Reports generated by Google and shared with the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre , Ministry of Home Affairs, he had said. The analysis further uncovered that a minor had been threatened and sexually assaulted by the accused. The case was detected suo motu by the CBI, as neither the victim nor the family had complained about the incident to any law enforcement agency prior to CBI's intervention, the CBI had said in a statement. 4 years' jail for sexual assault, but school guard to walk free

Ghaziabad: A special Pocso court sentenced a guard at a girls' school in the city to four years in jail for using criminal force on a student with the intent of outraging her modesty and imposed a fine of Rs 20,000. The court however, dropped the charge of attempted rape. Additional Sessions cum Special Pocso judge Neeraj Gautam said that the term of the sentence would be adjusted with the time already spent in jail. The convict had surrendered in 2021 after the crime was reported and has remained behind bars since then. As such, the convict will have served the necessary jail time by the time he was sentenced and will walk free. In March 2021, a class 6 student told her family members and her school's principal that one of the security guards at the school had followed her to her classroom, where he forcibly kissed her and then dragged the minor to the bathroom. He undressed the girl and attempted to force himself on the minor, and even threatened her with dire consequences when she protested. An FIR was subsequently filed in the case by the minor's uncle. The prosecution presented five witnesses, including the minor, her uncle, present and former school principals, and the investigator in the case. Meanwhile, the defence produced the father of the accused, who had also worked at the school previously, as a witness. Having heard both sides, the court concluded that the prosecution was successful in establishing crucial facts that the victim was underage and was targeted by the gatekeeper with bad intentions. "The prosecution has proved beyond doubt that the accused committed sexual assault on the minor with the intent to outrage her modesty and is guilty," the court said in the judgement pronounced on June 19. The accused was sentenced under section 354 of the IPC, which deals with criminal force on a woman with the intent to outrage her modesty, to four years in jail. The court also sentenced the man to four years under section 8 of the Pocso Act, dealing with touching a child with sexual intent without penetration. The two sentences were awarded to run concurrently, and the convict was directed to deposit a fine of Rs 20,000.
