Identify organised crime: Dhanbad SSP

1 2 Ranchi: The Dhanbad SSP , H P Janardhanan, has asked his subordinates to speed up action against the organised crime groups, particularly that of Prince Khan and the cyber criminals, active in the district. Speaking about the issue, SSP said that even though Prince Khan has been hiding abroad, his gang members have been actively involved in extortion calls in the district. "Identify the gang members and send them to jail," Janardhanan said. He further said, "Prince Khan group's activities have come down due to regular police action but it is the only organised crime group which is creating problems. We are taking necessary steps for his deportation." It may be stated here that the Prince Khan gang was involved in several criminal incidents in 2023. In recent times, Dhanbad Police have arrested four members of the gang in February and six members in December last year. On cyber crime cases in the district, the SSP said the rise in such incidents, including digital arrests and 'sextortion', was also an area of concern. He also asked all his officers to identify the criminals involved in such wrongdoings and arrest them. The SSP also said police would carry out awareness drives among people through 'Police Ka Pathashala' and other programmes regarding the prevention of cybercrime and other issues like road safety and prevention of witch-hunting. He stated that cases related to rape, atrocities on women and children, and the Pocso Act should be taken seriously and instructed that charge sheets must be submitted in these cases within 60 days. He added that several instructions have been issued for effective law and order system, including reducing the pendency of cases at police stations, and strict action against drug peddlers, cattle smugglers, gambling and indulging in the sale of illegal liquor.
