A Camarillo liquor store was burglarized early June 21 with the culprits smashing through a front glass area and using a power tool to get past a metal gate, authorities said.
The burglary was reported around 7:15 a.m. when workers arrived to find the front glass broken out, said Ventura County Sheriff's Capt. Tyler Abbott. The city of Camarillo contracts its police services with the sheriff's office.
Surveillance video later showed the break-in happened around 2:55 a.m., and the suspects used a sledgehammer to break the glass and a power tool called a sawzall to cut through a metal gate, he said. The suspects hauled off with $1,000, lottery scratcher tickets and a tip jar, Abbott said.
The culprits left in an older model Honda CRV with no plates. No alarm was activated in the burglary, Abbot said.
Anyone with information about the burglary can call Camarillo police at 805-388-5100.
Authorities arrested a Fillmore man on June 18 in connection to a pair of stabbings in April and for allegedly threatening a potential witness.
The Ventura County Sheriff's Office arrested the 22-year-old man on suspicion of dissuading a witness by force or threat, battery and participation in a street gang, according to a sheriff's office news release. The city of Fillmore contracts its police services with the sheriff's office.
The arrest comes after a monthslong investigation into two stabbings that took place shortly after 2:20 p.m. on April 15, sheriff's officials said.
One victim with a stab wound was found by deputies in the 400 block of Mountain View Street. The second victim arrived at the Fillmore Police Station seeking medical assistance and was transported to a local hospital, sheriff's officials said.
The suspect allegedly confronted, dissuaded and battered a member of the community while they attempted to gather information during the incident.
Sheriff's investigators searched a residence in the 200 block of Mutau Circle in Fillmore and found evidence that tied the man to the alleged stabbings and a criminal street gang, according to the sheriff's office.
The man was released on bond on June 18, jail records show. He is scheduled to appear in Ventura County Superior Court on July 2.
Two Ventura County residents were arrested on June 18 after being tied to alleged illegal firearms sales, including a 'ghost gun,' authorities said.
A 19-year-old Camarillo man and a 20-year-old Oxnard man were arrested on suspicion of felony offenses, including conspiracy to commit a crime, possession of a large capacity magazine and unlawful transfer of a weapon, according to the Ventura County Sheriff's Office. The sheriff's office is contracted to provide police services for the city of Camarillo.
The arrests came after a monthslong investigation into a suspect in possession of an illegally owned firearm, sheriff's officials said. Investigators identified the suspect as the Camarillo man and later tied the Oxnard man as a conspirator.
Sheriff's investigators searched a residence in 1700 Block of Alexander Street of Oxnard. The 20-year-old suspect allegedly attempted to flee during the search but was caught and arrested, sheriff's officials said. He also faces a charge of resisting arrest, authorities said.
Detectives also searched the 19-year-old's residence in the 1200 block of Harris Avenue in Camarillo and found a Glock-style 9 mm without serial numbers, also known as a 'ghost gun." Investigators also found a 31-round Glock large-capacity magazine and an AR-15 upper receiver, sheriff's officials said. He also faces a felony charge for possession of a large-capacity magazine.

Tyler Perry Slams $260M Sexual Assault Suit By ‘The Oval' Actor As A 'Scam'

A former longtime regular on Tyler Perry's White House drama The Oval is accusing the Madea star of sexual assault, sexual harassment and retaliation in a $260 million lawsuit — claims that Perry vehemently denies. 'Using his influence, Mr. Perry provided vulnerable men with acting positions, roles, show contracts, cars, and money,' a lawyer for Derek Dixon says of Perry's M.O. to their client and others in the 10-claim complaint filed June 13 in Los Angeles Superior Court. 'Once the object of his desire was hooked, Tyler Perry would then put them in fear of losing it all unless they engaged in Mr. Perry's perverted desire for sexual gratification. Mr. Perry would easily 'kill off' a character in a show of an actor who failed to indulge Perry's sexual fantasies.' More from Deadline Juror Tossed Out Of Sean 'Diddy' Combs Trial For Perceived 'Lying'; Judge Admonishes Defense For Claiming Racial Bias Judge Rejects Sean 'Diddy' Combs' Latest Motion For Mistrial In Sex-Trafficking Case — Update Kanye West's Very Short Visit To Sean "Diddy" Combs' Trial Proves More Photo-Op Than Support For Pal Invoking the names of 'Harvey Weinstein, Bill Cosby, R. Kelly, Sean 'P-Diddy' Combs, Kevin Spacey, Roger Ailes, and many others in the industry,' Dixon's action details how allegedly 'on multiple occasions, Mr. Perry sexually assaulted Mr. Dixon, including one instance where he forcibly pulled off Mr. Dixon's clothing, groped his buttocks, and attempted to force himself on Dixon.' In response, Perry's representatives call BS on Dixon and his accusations. 'This is an individual who got close to Tyler Perry for what now appears to be nothing more than setting up a scam,' said Matthew Boyd, attorney for the mogul and his TPS Production Services, LLC. 'But Tyler will not be shaken down, and we are confident these fabricated claims of harassment will fail.' Such claims of harassment by Dixon are very specific and widespread at the same time, it should be noted. For instance, at one point Dixon says Perry promised the actor that he had 'greenlit' the 'pilot that Perry knew Mr. Dixon had desperately wanted to produce.' The Oval vet says that even with a call from one of Perry's lawyers affirming that the pilot was moving ahead, the promise turned out to be empty. In a format reminiscent of the Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni lawsuits, text messages — some more suggestive than others — pepper the 46-page filing from L.A. attorney Jonathan J. Delshad. Included is at least one from an October 2020 trip the two and others took to the Bahamas, where Dixon claims Perry got loaded and assaulted him, again. The filing also notes that Perry supposedly repeatedly threatened 'that if Dixon ignored Perry or failed to engage with the sexual innuendos, Dixon's character would 'die' in the next season.' It goes on to add: 'Indeed, Dixon's character 'Dale' was shot four times in the chest at the end of his first season on The Oval and Perry always held this over Mr. Dixon's head, implying that 'Dale' would survive if Dixon kept Perry 'happy.'' According to Dixon, after he complained about Perry's alleged misconduct and 'Defendants did not make any investigation into the complaint and did not take any steps to prevent further harassment from occurring,' he 'had to quit his job working on the last season of The Oval.' Dixon and his attorneys claim that decision cost him around $400,000 in lost wages. 'Dixon did not want to be sexually harassed or be placed in danger of a sexual assault again,' the filing states as his reason for leaving the show and giving up the money. The Oval debuted on October 23, 2019, on BET, and saw its sixth season kick off on January 25 this year. A Ruthless spinoff premiered on BET+ on March 19, 2020.
