(File) A 52-year-old woman injured in a collision with a vessel on Lake Nepahwin last week has died of her injuries. The collision took place around 11 a.m. on Aug. 1 and she died in hospital Aug. 2, Sudbury police said. 'According to witnesses, (the) woman was swimming in open water when it appeared that she was struck by a passing vessel,' police said in the original news release. 'The victim sustained significant injuries and received immediate assistance from individuals on scene.' Members of the police's traffic safety unit continue to investigate the collision. No word yet on whether any charges will be laid in connection with the incident. Anyone with information related to the incident is asked to contact police at 705-675-9171.

11-year-old killed in off-road vehicle crash north of Capreol
The 11-year-old victim was pronounced deceased after being airlifted to hospital Sunday afternoon. An 11-year-old who was a passenger in an off-road vehicle was killed near Capreol Sunday afternoon when they were ejected from the vehicle. Greater Sudbury police said the tragedy took place on an unnamed road near Portelance Road, north of Capreol. 'Information provided was that two individuals were riding in a side-by-side when the driver lost control of the off-road vehicle and the passenger was ejected,' police said in a news release Monday. 'The passenger, an 11-year-old youth, was airlifted to the hospital. Unfortunately, the youth was pronounced deceased by medical professionals.' The investigation is ongoing, police said by the traffic safety unit. Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to contact police at 705-675-9171.

Swimmer struck by a boat in Sudbury, Ont., dies of her injuries
A 52-year-old woman who was hit by a boat while swimming in Sudbury's Lake Nepahwin last Friday, has died of her injuries. Greater Sudbury Police said in a news release that a boat hit the woman on the morning of Aug. 1 while she was out swimming in the lake. She was brought to the Health Sciences North Hospital nearby, where she was treated for "significant injuries" and was in critical condition. Police said she succumbed to her injuries the next day. "Our deepest condolences go out to her family and friends, and police will not be releasing her name out of respect for the family's wishes." Greater Sudbury Police said in a statement.
