Tanaiste to meet mother of murdered peacekeeper
It comes after Natasha Rooney expressed her disappointment at a 'lack of justice' for her son.
Pte Rooney, 24, from Newtowncunningham in Co Donegal, was killed when a convoy of Irish troops serving with a UN peacekeeping force in southern Lebanon was ambushed and fired upon on December 14, 2022.
The shooting happened near the town of Al-Aqbiya in a stronghold of Hezbollah.
Pte Rooney was from the 121 Infantry Battalion of the Defence Forces.
On Monday, Mr Harris said he had been informed of the completion of a military tribunal in Beirut for those indicted for the murder of Pte Rooney.
One man was sentenced to death, but he remains at large. A number of other men were also convicted in relation to other offences over the shooting.
Ms Rooney expressed disappointment and contended it was 'not justice'.
In a statement released through Phoenix Law, she said the perpetrator of her son's murder 'has been untraceable and untraced for many years'.
She added: 'The verdict in reality is nothing more than a headline to the Lebanese authorities who masquerade this sham trial process as a semblance of justice for my son.'
Ms Rooney also urged Mr Harris to speak to her 'before seeking to speak for me, in his public statements'.
Speaking to the media on Friday, Mr Harris said he is meeting Ms Rooney next week.
'I'm going to preserve any further comment 'til I meet her,' he said.
'Natasha is a grieving mother fighting for justice for her son who died while serving with absolute distinction wearing the uniform of Oglaigh Na hEireann. He has my absolute and total respect, as does his family.
'I look forward to meeting with Natasha and engaging with her directly next week.'

The man who murdered British backpacker Peter Falconio more than 20 years ago has died - without revealing the location of his victim's remains. Bradley John Murdoch murdered the 28-year-old and assaulted his girlfriend Joanne Lees at gunpoint on a remote stretch of road near Barrow Creek in Australia's Northern Territory on 14 July 2001. Mr Falconio and Ms Lees, both from Yorkshire, had stopped their camper van after Murdoch pulled up beside them, claiming to have seen sparks coming from their vehicle. He shot Mr Falconio in the head as he inspected the van, before forcing Ms Lees into his vehicle and binding her wrists with cable ties. She managed to escape, hiding in the outback for hours before flagging down a passing truck. Murdoch was convicted in 2005 and sentenced to life imprisonment without parole for at least 28 years. The 67-year-old was diagnosed with terminal throat cancer in 2019 and was moved to palliative care from Alice Springs Correctional Centre last month. A Northern Territory Department of Corrections spokesperson said: "I can confirm that Bradley Murdoch passed away last night in the palliative care unit at Alice Springs Hospital. "The death will be subject to investigation by the Northern Territory Coroner." During his trial, prosecutors argued that Murdoch was likely to have disposed of Mr Falconio's body somewhere in the vast, remote expanse of desert between Alice Springs and Broome, covering more than 1,200 miles. Despite repeated searches, the body has never been found. Ms Lees, who returned to the UK, told Australian current affairs programme 60 Minutes in 2017 that she still wanted to "bring him home". "Pete lost his life on that night, but I lost mine too," she said at the time. "I'll never be fully at peace if Pete's not found, but I accept that that is a possibility." Murdoch lodged several unsuccessful appeals over the years, with Australia's highest court refusing to hear his case in 2007. Last month police announced a new 500,000 Australian dollar (£240,000) reward for information leading to the discovery of Mr Falconio's remains.

Murder probe launched after fatal attack on language school student
Two men have been arrested after a language school student was killed in Cambridge. Police were called to Mill Park at 11.27pm on Friday following reports of violence. The 20-year-old man, who was a student at EF International Language Campuses Cambridge – a private school offering English language courses to overseas students – was pronounced dead at 12.01am. A 21-year-old man from Cambridge has been arrested on suspicion of murder. A 50-year-old man, also from Cambridge, has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. Both remain in custody at Thorpe Wood police station. Detective Inspector Dale Mepstead, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire major crime unit, thanked the public for their help following a recent appeal. He said: 'The investigation remains ongoing and we continue to urge anyone with information who has not yet come forward to contact us.' In a statement, EF International Language Campuses Cambridge said: 'We are deeply saddened to confirm that one of our adult students was fatally injured on Friday night in a public space. 'Emergency services responded immediately but the student tragically passed away. 'We are working closely with the local police, who are investigating the incident and have confirmed they made arrests. 'At this time, we understand the attack was carried out by a member of the public in an isolated incident. 'The safety and wellbeing of our students is our top priority. 'We are providing support to all students and staff affected by this tragic event and have organised counselling sessions. 'Our thoughts are with the student's loved ones during this incredibly difficult time and we have offered our full support. We will not be commenting further while the investigation is ongoing.' Fees at EF International Language Campuses Cambridge can exceed £1,300 for just two weeks of study, rising to more than £12,000 for a 20‑week course.
