Close to half a tonne of methamphetamine and ketamine, believed to have originated from a neighbouring country, was found stored in a three-storey terrace house in Taman Sri Hartamas.
Bukit Aman Narcotic Crime Investigation Department (NCID) director Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the case was developed over a month, based on intelligence received about the syndicate's operations.

Felda manager claims trial to eight counts of falsifying documents
IPOH: A Felda planning manager is facing eight counts of falsifying documents related to delivery orders and contract payment certificates amounting to about RM18,000. Hendra Mohamad Nazri, 45, pleaded not guilty after the charges under Section 471 of the Penal Code were read to him before Sessions judge Ainul Shahrin Mohamad on Tuesday (Aug 5). For the first and second charges, Hendra is said to have committed the offence on Dec 23, 2019, at Maybank in Jalan Ahmad Boestaman, Slim River (Batang Padang district), by dishonestly using false delivery order receipts from Minitech Bidor Quarry Sdn Bhd as supporting documents for two stone delivery projects, each worth RM5,000. For the third charge, he is accused of instructing Khairul Afendi Mohd Nordin, 37, the land scheme supervisor at Felda Gunung Besout 04, between October and November 2020, to prepare a false document for contract work involving caterpillar extermination across two plots totalling over 15ha, valued at RM1,149.12. For the fourth charge, he allegedly instructed Khairul Afendi to prepare a false document for road repairs along a 1,000m stretch at Lot Felda, also at Felda Gunung Besout 04, valued at RM2,200. For the fifth charge, he is accused of preparing a false document in the form of a payment certificate for repair works on staff quarters at Felda Gunung Besout 04, valued at RM5,000. For the sixth charge, between July and August 2020, he allegedly prepared and instructed the preparation of false documents for contract work related to the repairs of staff quarters, valued at RM5,000. The seventh charge involves the alleged preparation of a false certificate for repair works on drains and irrigation systems over a 500m stretch within a 15.96ha Felda plantation between November and December 2020, valued at RM1,480. For the eighth charge, between February and March 2021 at the Felda Gunung Besout 04 office in Sungkai, he allegedly instructed Khairul Afendi to prepare a false document payment certificate for supplying nine units of signage for staff housing at Felda Gunung Besout 04, valued at RM1,188. Charges three to eight were brought under Section 471 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 109 and punishable under Section 465, which provides for imprisonment of up to two years, a fine, or both, upon conviction. The court allowed Hendra bail of RM6,000 and fixed Sept 11 for him to appoint a lawyer.

RM17mil in drugs seized

A syndicate used the house to store the drugs before selling them locally and overseas. A 30-year-old Malaysian man, who works as the syndicate's coordinator and transporter, was detained in the raid on July 29. Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) director Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said 234kg of syabu hidden in 225 tea packages and 205.7kg of ketamine in 200 tea packages were seized. 'The drugs are worth RM17.78mil. They could have been supplied to 1.8 million drug users,' he told reporters at the police headquarters yesterday. The detained suspect was paid RM7,000 for each trip of drugs transported, he added. 'We believe he already made 10 trips before being caught. The house was rented by the syndicate for RM6,000 per month for a year,' he said. Initial investigations revealed that the syndicate has been active since June. 'We believe the drugs had just arrived from a neighbouring country on the northern part of the Malaysian border. 'The drugs were transported by land.' Comm Hussein said the NCID planned the operation within a month after receiving credible intelligence. 'Given the size of the drugs, the syndicate is huge with good network overseas,' he said. 'The NCID will continue to track down other members of the syndicate and the mastermind. 'We also seized two cars, three luxury watches and a mobile phone.' In another case, 42.3kg of ganja buds worth RM1.48mil were seized at an apartment in Taman Kuchai Entrepreneurs on July 29. 'We detained a local man along with a man and two women from Vietnam. 'The local man was the syndicate's transporter and coordinator while the foreign suspects had arrived in Malaysia on July 8. 'The Vietnamese women also worked as guest relation officers,' he said. The drugs seized were meant to be distributed in the Klang Valley, he said. Comm Hussein said the NCID will continue to combat the drug menace but needs the cooperation of the public. Of the total, 7,196 individuals had been charged in court for various offences under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, he said. DCP Mohd Alwi said 4,498 investigation papers related to drug trafficking and possession were also opened during this period. He added that another 7,938 investigations were conducted for drug abuse offences under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, while actions were taken against 251 individuals under Section 39C(1) of the same Act. 'The arrests were the result of continuous operations and intelligence-led enforcement efforts, targeting traffickers, distributors and users across the state,' he said during a press conference at the North Seberang Perai police headquarters' centralised evidence storage facility in Jalan Kedah yesterday. Earlier, DCP Mohd Alwi witnessed the disposal of 120.9kg of seized drugs worth about RM2mil. The drugs included 19.75kg of heroin and monoacetylmorphine, 53.57kg of cannabis, 2.9kg of ketamine, 42.61kg of methamphetamine and 2.1kg of various psychotropic pills. He said the substances were seized during 5,265 investigation cases handled by the state Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) between 2010 and 2024, covering five districts in Penang.
