Plane carrying Mauritanian pilgrims reportedly missing off the Red Sea coast

Published May 27th, 2025 - 12:02 GMT ALBAWABA - Unconfirmed news reported on Tuesday that contact was lost with a plane carrying 210 Mauritanian pilgrims, both men and women. The plane, which was likely heading from Mauritania to Saudi Arabia ahead of the Hajj season, allegedly crashed off the Red Sea coast. Initial reports claimed that the plane was en route to the Holy Lands to perform Hajj rituals when contact with it mysteriously disappeared, raising serious concerns about the fate of the passengers. However, no official statement has yet been issued by the airline or relevant authorities to confirm the incident or provide additional details. A video allegedly said to be taken from the plane was shared online, showing panicking passengers screaming mid-flight, with some people were heard shouting "Allah Akbar" as the plane was reportedly falling from the sky.
