Klarna Is Selling Up to $26 Billion of Buy-Now, Pay-Later Loans to Nelnet

Klarna Group Plc agreed to sell as much as $26 billion of buy-now, pay-later loans to the student loan giant Nelnet Inc. as the fintech looks for ways to free up capital ahead of its public debut. The multi-year deal is structured as a so-called forward-flow agreement, where a buyer agrees to purchase loans before they have been originated. With the deal, Klarna will be able to expand its pay-in-4 product in the US, which allows consumers to split up purchases and pay them off interest free in a matter of weeks.

WhatsApp's New Upgrades Could Completely Change How You Use Your iPhone

WhatsApp has just announced new features for calls on Android, iPhone, iPad, Windows and Mac which may mean some users choose this as their default calling app and not use the built-in native calling app again. That would be a very big change. Since March 2025, iPhone users have been able to select WhatsApp as their messaging and phone app of choice instead of the native Apple offerings. WhatsApp has long had one great advantage over Apple's built-in messaging app: it is platform agnostic, so all messaging bubbles are the same, whether they come from Android users or iPhones. These new calling features could add a unique benefit users will prefer. With the WhatsApp update, you can now schedule calls, which is something Apple doesn't match, and use the new features to express yourself in group calls. Here's what's new. WhatsApp New Group Call Features: Schedule Calls 'Whether you're coordinating a catch-up with the entire family or scheduling a meeting with colleagues, sometimes you need to plan ahead. Now you can schedule calls and invite people or groups to join in advance by pressing the + button in your Calls tab > 'Schedule call,' WhatsApp said in a blog post on Aug. 14. It means the Calls tab will let you see and administer all your upcoming calls and will also show a list of attendees, plus call links which you can share with others or add to a calendar. All those participating get a notification when it's about to begin (which could be important if you're as forgetful as I am). WhatsApp New Group Call Features: Group Calls With the new update, you can raise your hand when you want to speak, which shows a level of restraint I've never been able to muster, or send a reaction. These capabilities are for iPhone, iPad, Windows, Mac and iPad for group calls, but for iPhone and Android only on one-to-one calls. The changes are rolling out globally, beginning today, so it could take a little while for it to reach your devices.

Vardhan Wealth Management: The Advantages of Being an Early Adopter

You can find original article here Wealthmanagement. Subscribe to our free daily Wealthmanagement newsletter. I started my career with the wirehouses, but eventually decided to go into the independent space. I interviewed with about 14 RIAs and didn't find the best fit. I heard about Summit Financial and their Summit Growth Partners program. I researched and interviewed them, including the technology stack options, and decided to go with them for my back-office support. One of the reasons I wanted to go independent [with Summit] was not only to be all in with my team and build our model, but also to still have the support of a larger ecosystem for pricing and vetting technology. I wanted to be able to look at these new fintech opportunities to potentially use and be nimbler than a larger wirehouse can be. I'm also on an advisory council that helps [Summit] vet new fintech and technologies. I can weigh in on how things would work within our platform before it's implemented and rolled out. Those kinds of things are very important as an advisor because you are part of creating the Kool-Aid for growth. CRM: Salesforce Salesforce fits our needs pretty well. It suits all the needs we have for connectivity. We put all our notes in it. We can recall notes pretty easily. We can put tasks in there for each other. It functions in a way that allows us to be very directed at spending more of our time on clients and providing service to the client instead of laborious tasks that can otherwise be automated. Reporting & Portfolio Management: Addepar / Adhesion Wealth (AssetMark) Addepar [which partners with managed account provider Adhesion] is pretty robust. I love it. We can customize it. I have a set of templates that I like to use. It can include all the assets that aren't on Fidelity, Schwab or our broker/dealer. If we have any annuities, we can include them and whatever else is in a client's portfolio. It gives the client a quick 11-page report showing where all their assets are, account by account or entity by entity. It gives their performance numbers and asset allocation, sector by sector, in terms of what percentages are in different allocations. We can also put historical data on it. It pretty much does everything we want it to do. It also has an app we can offer clients. We don't want to inundate them with apps, but I think it's important for an RIA to give clients the opportunity to use an app or have the choice. That ability can be somewhat surprising to advisors not in the RIA. In that way, RIAs can have a leg up on having access to the latest capabilities for clients. Financial Planning: eMoney Advisor In the wirehouse world, we used a white-label version of MoneyGuide Pro (Envestnet), which I liked a lot. But when we came here, we started using eMoney. It has really accomplished everything we need in our specialty, the $5 million to $50 million client space. For example, it allows us to meet clients' allocation needs and common goals for things like retirement. It also goes into the insurance component of planning. We're starting to grow our insurance business within the RIA here. It also goes into the estate planning component pretty aggressively, and we do a lot of estate planning with clients who need to amend or adjust or redo estate plans. [eMoney] is a good driver for all the basic things that we need to do for our clients, keeping track of everything and creating flow charts. I would say it's a pretty powerful program. Primary/Secondary Custodians: Fidelity / Schwab I could interview and determine which custodians were going to be a better fit for me, and I concluded that Fidelity was the better fit for my kind of business. In Michigan, big auto companies and their peer suppliers use NetBenefits (Fidelity), as do a lot of big institutions like the University of Michigan. A lot of people here know the word Fidelity, and you see their branches when you are driving around. I wanted to use something very familiar to people, and I found that Fidelity was a good brand. We had also planned to offer Schwab as an option, and when one large client wanted to use them, we decided to offer them through Schwab and create our platform with them. Now, if we're talking to a referral and they are already on Schwab, we don't need to move them to Fidelity. In our practice today, we're about 85% to 90% Fidelity; the rest is with Schwab. AI Services: Microsoft Teams Copilot Teams is a fantastic platform. Before the COVID years, I used to do 70% or 80% of my meetings in person. Now it's more like 70% Teams-based, which I find a little sad because I like seeing people face-to-face. But it's also given us the dynamic of being able to expand over the whole country. Most of our referrals now do not come from a 50-mile radius or even the state of Michigan. We're getting referrals from the East Coast, West Coast, down in Florida and all over the place. In that sense, as people have come out of the COVID era, I think they are much more comfortable using Teams and the like. Direct Indexing and/or Tax-Loss Harvesting Services: Quantinno Quantinno allows us to be very tax-efficient with clients' portfolios. This applies whether a client wants to use cash and be very tax-efficient in how we model out a portfolio, or has a very concentrated portfolio on specific stocks or ETFs that we can overlay and mitigate some of their tax liability over a period of time. We were one of [Quantinno's] first clients. I remember being in a meeting back in '21 or '22 where they just hit their first billion in assets, and we were already working with them. It's nice to be on the cutting edge. That is helpful with clients when you're able to say that we have this platform or that tech that you may not find at our competitor. Client 401(k) Management: Pontera With Pontera, we can go into a client's 401(k) plan and charge a fee to have it be actively managed within their portfolio. As a fiduciary, that's very important to us, because we want to manage their whole plan and be holistic. In the olden days, we would not be able to advise them on their 401(k) plan, which for many people is a heavy component of their wealth, right behind their house and maybe their after-tax portfolio. It allows us to go in and manage that wealth proactively as an advisor for them. Pontera and Quantinno were two things that I think are somewhat unique to us as first adopters. Many other firms have now adopted them, but we've had them for over three years and have been using them to serve our clients.
