AP allocated over Rs 375 cr for tourism projects
Responding to questions by MPs Sana Satish Babu and Beeda Masthan Rao Yadav, the minister said that schemes like Swadesh Darshan, Swadesh Darshan 2.0, Challenge-Based Destination Development (CBDD), and PRASHAD are aimed at strengthening tourism infrastructure in coordination with state efforts.
Key projects include development of the Suryalanka Beach Experience with Rs 97.52 crore and the Borra Caves–Araku–Lambasingi circuit with Rs 29.87 crore under Swadesh Darshan 2.0. Under the CBDD scheme, Rs 25 crore each has been allocated for Ahobilam and Nagarjuna Sagar Buddhist heritage projects.
Additionally, under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme, Rs 77.91 crore has been proposed for Gandikota's fort and gorge area, and Rs 94.44 crore for the Akhanda Godavari project in Rajamahendravaram.
The PRASHAD scheme will fund Rs 25.33 crore for infrastructure development at Annavaram temple town.
Minister Shekhawat also mentioned that three earlier-approved projects worth Rs 124.89 crore are still under implementation, and Rs 147.46 crore was spent between 2014–18 under the original Swadesh Darshan scheme for coastal and Buddhist circuit development in the state.

Tiruchanur temple gears up for Varalakshmi Vratam
Tirupati: The Sri Padmavathi temple in Tiruchanur is preparing for a large influx of devotees for the upcoming Varalakshmi Vratam on August 8. Joint executive officer of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), Veerabrahmam, held a review meeting to finalise elaborate arrangements for the special day on Monday. The Varalakshmi Vratam will take place at the Asthana Mandapam from 10 am to 12 pm, followed by a grand procession of Goddess Padmavathi Ammavaru on the Swarna Ratham (golden chariot) at 6 can participate in the vratam by paying a fee of Rs 1,000 per couple. To accommodate the expected crowds, TTD officials are setting up LED screens for devotees to watch the ceremony and ensuring a continuous supply of drinking water and food (annaprasadam). Arrangements are also being made for the distribution of kumkum, bangles, and prasadam to all attendees. In preparation for the event, regular services such as Abhishekam, Kalyanotsavam, and Unjal Seva will be cancelled. To maintain a spiritual atmosphere, the temple will be decorated with flowers and lights, and devotional bhajan troupes will perform. The JEO also stressed the importance of coordinating with police and local panchayat authorities to manage traffic, security, and cleanliness. The Varalakshmi Vratam will be broadcast live on SVBC for those unable to attend.

Recharging tourism: Guided tour of city on AC e-buses likely from Sept
New Delhi: Delhi govt is going to expand its city tourism services by engaging two electric buses from Delhi Transport Corporation. Officials said that these buses would start from the Delhi Tourism's office at Baba Kharak Singh Marg and cover the city's popular tourist spots along with some new landmarks before dropping the passengers back from where it started. Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation has entered into an agreement with DTC to hire air-conditioned electric buses. "We hope to start the service by Sept 1 after getting the buses branded in special wrapping promoting Delhi as a tourist destination, and training of guides," said a DTTDC official. The buses will cover several destinations, including Connaught Place, Police Memorial, historical monuments, Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya and Dilli Haat. The buses will stop at certain destinations for a fixed time to allow the tourists to take a quick round. The proposed ticket price is Rs 500 for adults and Rs 300 for children aged between 6 and 12. There are also plans to introduce an audio translation service for which headsets with multiple language options will be provided. DTTDC planned to start six theme-based tours covering Delhi's heritage monuments, food streets, markets, shopping malls and museums before the G20 Summit in Sept 2023. The plan, however, was shelved considering that not many tourists may be interested in theme-based circuits and would rather prefer one consolidated tour covering all important destinations. A senior DTTDC official said that the department might consider expanding the service and engaging more buses to run on different circuits after evaluating the response to the soon-to-start city tours. Depending on the number of tourists booking for a city tour or for a trip outside Delhi, DTTDC provides cars as well as bigger vehicles on rent.
