Three Bangladeshi infiltrators pushed back from Assam

Guwahati, Apr 25 (PTI) Three Bangladeshis trying to enter India illegally were pushed back by Assam police, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
'With strict vigilance in place, they were swiftly apprehended and pushed back across the border. Good Job,' Sarma said, lauding the role of the police force.
Over 330 infiltrators have been pushed back from Assam since August last year.

Delhi police deports 154 Bangladeshi migrants
New Delhi [India], June 10 (ANI): 154 illegal Bangladeshi migrants were caught and deported by Delhi police on Monday, as per police officials. According to the information, the Delhi police caught 11 families in the Mahendra Park area on June 6, and as they were questioned, the police found that they were Bangladeshi nationals. 'We have caught 154 Bangladeshi illegal migrants and deported them. Recently on June 6, we caught 11 families in Mahendra Park, Bharat Nagar police station area here, questioned them and found that all of them were Bangladeshis. They were apprehended and deported', DCP North West Bhisham Singh told ANI. On May 29, around 160 Bangladeshi nationals were being deported from the capital city of Delhi to Bangladesh through the Hindon airbase, according to sources. The sources added that the Bangladeshi nationals will first be flown to Tripura on a special aircraft, from where they will be deported by road to the Bangladesh border for repatriation. In recent months, after the Pahalgam terror attack, Delhi Police has identified nearly 470 Bangladeshi nationals living illegally in the city and has deported them through the same channel -- via Tripura and then across the Bangladesh border by road. Among these 160 deportees, most of them had infiltrated into India, while many of them did not go back to Bangladesh even after their visas expired. On May 27, at least 88 illegal Bangladeshi migrants were traced and detained by teams of the South West district in the national capital during a 10-day-long verification drive against illegal migrants. Bangladeshi identity documents were recovered from their possession during the verification drive. Delhi Police said a fresh deportation process has been initiated after completing all codal formalities with the help of the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), New Delhi. To address the rising concerns over the unauthorised stay of migrants, including Bangladeshi nationals, in the jurisdiction of the South West District, a special drive is being conducted by the South West District Police to identify, detain, and repatriate individuals residing illegally in the area. Multiple teams were constituted and instructed to conduct thorough checks, focusing in the areas with vulnerable populations. The teams roped in secret informers to gather information about illegal migrants. Surendra Chaudhary, DCP South West said, 'The action which we are taking against illegal migrants since last year under that in South West Delhi, 88 illegal Bangladeshi migrants detained in the last 10 days and we are deporting them with help of FRRO. Complainant in Sharmishta Panoli case arrested for allegedly hurting religious sentiments
The Kolkata Police on Monday arrested Wajahat Khan Qadri, the man whose complaint led to the arrest of 22-year-old law student Sharmishta Panoli, for posting allegedly 'malicious and inflammatory' remarks on social media, The Indian Express reported. Qadri, who was allegedly absconding since June 1, was found in a flat in the city's Amherst Street area, PTI quoted unidentified police officers as saying. He will be produced before a court on Tuesday, The Indian Express reported. A complaint had been registered against him on June 5. He was booked under the same sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita as Panoli: promoting enmity between different groups, deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage the religious feelings of any class of citizens, intentional insult with the intent to provoke a breach of peace and statements that incite public mischief, The Indian Express had quoted an unidentified police officer as saying earlier. Panoli, a fourth-year business and law student at a Pune university, was arrested by the Kolkata Police in Gurugram on May 30 for her remarks about Prophet Muhammad on social media. She deleted the post later and issued an apology on X. A case was filed against Panoli based on Qadri's complaints on May 15. An arrest warrant had been issued against her on May 17, after which she was arrested from Gurugram, brought to Kolkata on a transit remand and remanded to judicial custody till June 13. The Calcutta High Court on June 5 granted interim bail to the 22-year-old law student. Following Panoli's arrest, at least five complaints were filed against Qadri in West Bengal, including two at the Garden Reach Police Station, for alleged hate speech and derogatory remarks on social media that hurt religious sentiments. Qadri had allegedly demanded action against Panoli on social media and later celebrated her arrest. The first complaint against Qadri was filed by a Hindutva outfit Shri Ram Swabhiman Parishad on June 2. The outfit alleged that his posts promoted enmity between religious groups and demanded his arrest for hurting 'Hindu sentiments'. Several complaints had also been filed against Qadri in different parts of the country, including Mumbai, Delhi and Assam, for alleged hate speech and making derogatory remarks against religious deities on social media. In Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had said that an FIR was filed against the Qadri for allegedly making 'unacceptable comments against Devi Maa Kamakhya', The Indian Express reported. A three-member team of the Assam Police had earlier visited the area where Qadri lives in Kolkata's Garden Reach.

Explosives used without noticeahead of Yogi's Bahraich visit
Bahraich: Two days ahead of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's proposed visit to Bahraich, a company authorised by the Union Petroleum Ministry allegedly used large quantity of explosives for drilling without informing the local administration, officials said. Local BJP MLA Surveshvar Singh termed the incident a 'serious security lapse' and demanded cancellation of the chief minister's visit. Sub-Divisional Magistrate Alok Prasad told PTI that Alpha Geo India Limited was assigned the task of drilling and surveying for oil and gas deposits by the Petroleum Ministry. The firm as using ammonium nitrate explosives for the survey. Though the company was carrying out government-sanctioned work, it failed to follow the standard operating procedures (SOP) and did not inform the local administration, he said. This caused panic among villagers and resentment among the public representatives. Upon receiving information, police and administrative staff reached the site and initiated an inquiry, the SDM added. He said that around 200 employees of the company were working in different shifts across multiple villages, most of whom are from West Bengal and face a language barrier with the locals. To ensure their safety amid growing tension, all employees were brought to the Hardi police station, he added. Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Durga Prasad Tiwari said the company had drilled up to 30 metres underground using ammonium nitrate without prior intimation to villagers or authorities. 'Today, around 50-60 employees deployed on the field were called to the police station for questioning. No one has been detained so far. The decision on filing an FIR will be taken after further inquiry,' he said. Raising alarm, Mahsi MLA Sureshvar Singh said with the chief minister scheduled to visit on Tuesday, the presence of hundreds of outsiders and 500 kilograms of explosives in the district is highly concerning.
