Delhi police deports 154 Bangladeshi migrants
New Delhi [India], June 10 (ANI): 154 illegal Bangladeshi migrants were caught and deported by Delhi police on Monday, as per police officials. According to the information, the Delhi police caught 11 families in the Mahendra Park area on June 6, and as they were questioned, the police found that they were Bangladeshi nationals.
'We have caught 154 Bangladeshi illegal migrants and deported them. Recently on June 6, we caught 11 families in Mahendra Park, Bharat Nagar police station area here, questioned them and found that all of them were Bangladeshis. They were apprehended and deported', DCP North West Bhisham Singh told ANI.
On May 29, around 160 Bangladeshi nationals were being deported from the capital city of Delhi to Bangladesh through the Hindon airbase, according to sources.
The sources added that the Bangladeshi nationals will first be flown to Tripura on a special aircraft, from where they will be deported by road to the Bangladesh border for repatriation.
In recent months, after the Pahalgam terror attack, Delhi Police has identified nearly 470 Bangladeshi nationals living illegally in the city and has deported them through the same channel -- via Tripura and then across the Bangladesh border by road.
Among these 160 deportees, most of them had infiltrated into India, while many of them did not go back to Bangladesh even after their visas expired.
On May 27, at least 88 illegal Bangladeshi migrants were traced and detained by teams of the South West district in the national capital during a 10-day-long verification drive against illegal migrants.
Bangladeshi identity documents were recovered from their possession during the verification drive. Delhi Police said a fresh deportation process has been initiated after completing all codal formalities with the help of the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), New Delhi.
To address the rising concerns over the unauthorised stay of migrants, including Bangladeshi nationals, in the jurisdiction of the South West District, a special drive is being conducted by the South West District Police to identify, detain, and repatriate individuals residing illegally in the area.
Multiple teams were constituted and instructed to conduct thorough checks, focusing in the areas with vulnerable populations. The teams roped in secret informers to gather information about illegal migrants.
Surendra Chaudhary, DCP South West said, 'The action which we are taking against illegal migrants since last year under that in South West Delhi, 88 illegal Bangladeshi migrants detained in the last 10 days and we are deporting them with help of FRRO. They came from different border points and and they had Aadhar cards and we trying to trace those who issued it.' (ANI)

Three Bangladeshis who escaped from Jharkhand detention camp arrested: Police
Three Bangladeshi nationals, including two women, who escaped from Hazaribagh's Jai Prakash Narayan Central Jail on Monday morning were arrested within 15 hours from various locations in Jharkhand and West Bengal, said police. The escape was reported at around 7 AM on June 9. The detainees were identified as Rina Khan alias Fina Devi (29) from Dhaka, Nipah Akhtar Khushi (24) from Chattogram, and Mohammad Nazmul Gang (22) from Bagerhat district The police said they escaped the detention ward by removing the barbed wire from the jail's boundary wall. All three had been held at the detention ward of the Central Jail under charges related to illegal entry and use of forged documents. A statement issued by the police said Rina Khan was transferred to the Hazaribagh Detention Centre from Jamtara Jail on February 4, 2022. Nipah Akhtar Khushi was shifted on September 28, 2024 and Gang was brought to the centre on March 1, 2025. Speaking to The Indian Express, Jail Superintendent Jitendra Kumar said that a case has been registered in connection with the escape. An internal inquiry is being conducted to examine the breach in jail security. A Special Investigation Team was formed to search for the detainees, and based on surveillance and location data, teams were sent to Tisri in Giridih and Mihijam in Jamtara. Two other teams were also sent to Bangaon and Kolkata in West Bengal. In Bangaon, with local police assistance, Nipah Akhtar Khushi and Mohammad Nazmul Gang were located and taken into custody. Based on information from the Kolkata team, Fina Devi was also arrested from Dhanbad Railway Station.

Bizman's aide held for killing 62-yr-old over property row
New Delhi: A week after a burnt body was found in northwest Delhi's Alipur, Delhi Police has arrested the business partner of the deceased. According to police, the victim was allegedly putting pressure on his partner to sell a property, which ultimately led to the murder. Police said that on May 2, a partially burnt body was discovered. During an inspection of the crime scene, an empty cartridge was recovered. Efforts were made to identify the deceased, and a case of murder was registered. The deceased was later identified as Santosh Kumar, alias Masterji (62), a resident of Nathupura. Deputy commissioner of police (Outer North) Hareshwar V Swami said that after analysing hundreds of CCTV footage, examining multiple call detail records of suspects, interrogations, and relying on local intelligence, one suspect—Jagarnath Shah, alias Lala—was apprehended. Shah was last seen with the deceased. Police said, Shah, who was also the deceased's business partner, confessed to the crime upon interrogation. "Shah has been arrested. He disclosed that the deceased was putting pressure on him to sell his property in Swaroop Nagar. The weapon used in the crime, the vehicle used to commit the offence, and an empty petrol bottle have been recovered," police said. According to police, on June 1, Shah took Santosh from his office in Swaroop Vihar for a drive in his XUV car, under the pretence of discussing property matters. He drove around various locations in Delhi, searching for a secluded place to commit the murder. Around 8 pm, they reached the Mukhmelpur-Hiranki Pushta Road, a deserted area. There, Shah allegedly shot Santosh in the head and set the body on fire in an attempt to destroy evidence before fleeing the scene. On the way, he disposed of the weapon and the inflammable bottle, both of which were later recovered by the police.

3 incidents in 4 yrs raise concern over H'bag detention centre security
1 2 Hazaribag: The escape of three Bangladeshi nationals from a detention centre located on the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Central Jail premises in Hazaribag on Monday morning has raised concern about its security, as two similar incidents occurred in the past. The three persons have, however, been arrested on Tuesday morning. The centre comprising two rooms is dilapidated, with the roof of the building made of asbestos sheets. For external security, barbed wire is installed on the boundary walls. Foreign nationals are kept in these two rooms, while security personnel are deployed in the verandah of the building. A total of four were in the centre, but three escaped. Jail officials said the superintendent of police monitors the security and maintenance of the detention centre, and security personnel are deputed from the district police force. According to the information, the in-charge of the detention centre is a policeman of the rank of a havildar. The district administration deployed six policemen for the security of the Bangladeshis living in the Hazaribag detention centre, and now all six have been suspended. Among them, there were three female security personnel and three men. It is reported that the security personnel closed the door of the detention centre room from outside and slept in the verandah. However, when they woke up and opened the door of the room on Monday morning, the three Bangladeshis were missing. The history of foreign nationals escaping from the detention centre is old. Earlier, three foreign nationals escaped from here. Hazaribag police have not found any of them till date. On March 8, 2021, Jahid Hussain and Md Javed alias Md Noor escaped by breaking the window of the detention centre. An FIR was registered in this regard at Lohsinghana police station. On Sept 13, 2021, a foreign national lodged in the detention centre escaped. The police have not succeeded in finding him either. Officials of Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Central Jail said that illegal foreign citizens are kept in detention centres. Under Section 3(2)(c) of the Foreigners Act of India, the central govt has the right to expel any illegal citizen from the country. During the process of deportation, such people are kept in these detention centres. In fact, those who do not have documents to stay in the country are kept here and sent back to their country. In the case of the three who escaped, they also completed their sentence. No effort was being made by the Bangladesh govt to bring them back to the country, added jail sources. Therefore, all of them were kept in the detention centre of Hazaribag. Hazaribag SP Anjani Anjan said earlier such incidents occurred at this detention centre. He said, "The three escaped by making their way through the barbed wire on the boundary walls. We are assessing the condition and security of the centre and will take all possible steps to make the security foolproof soon." He added that it was the responsibility of the six jawans deployed there to guard the centre. "All six were suspended due to negligence," he said.
