
Docktour floating clinics: a UAE initiative to provide AI-powered smart diagnoses

ALBAWABA - Burjeel Holdings, a leading provider of healthcare services in the United Arab Emirates, Oman, and Saudi Arabia, has partnered with AD Ports Group, the exclusive developer and regulator of ports and related infrastructure in Abu Dhabi, to launch the Docktour Floating Clinics initiative. The initiative will feature floating clinics housed in containers across ports in Africa. These clinics will offer medical care and diagnostics to patients and will include specialized maritime and modular units, an emergency room, an intensive care unit, and services such as X-rays and surgical procedures.Dr. Anwar Sallam, Clinical Advisor at Burjeel Holdings, stated: 'It will deliver standard healthcare services in Africa that will actually entail not only the clinical practice, but everything from A to Z."
The clinics are considered AI- and smart technology–friendly. According to Dr. Sallam, doctors will be able to provide remote diagnoses through the use of artificial intelligence and smart technologies.

'If I have one orthopedic surgeon who is an expert and I need his opinion for five modular clinics, he can be accessed through AI. For example, he could remotely see the X-ray and give his diagnosis,' added Dr. Sallam.
The new initiative will promote high-tech AI integration, mobility, maritime infrastructure, and expanded access to healthcare. 'Our goal is not to make money out of these clinics; our main aim is to ensure that healthcare based on proper clinical standards is being set up in deprived areas.
