Toronto police are investigating what they describe as a 'suspicious incident' involving a man who allegedly approached and grabbed children during a school soccer tournament in Earlscourt Park.
Officers say the incident happened on Friday when they were called to the area of St. Clair Avenue West and Caledonia Road just after 12 p.m.
Police say a man allegedly picked up a child and placed them on his shoulders. When confronted by the child's mother, the man reportedly put the child down.
He was later seen filming children on his phone and asking them for their names, ages, phone numbers and addresses, police say.
Investigators say the man was also spotted near a playground committing an indecent act, and at one point grabbed another child by the arm and asked them to come with him. That child was able to break free and run away.
The man fled the area and has not yet been located.
The man, who was not named by police, is described as five-foot-eight, 30 to 40 years old, with a slim build.
'He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a cream and pink coloured shirt,' police wrote in a news release.

Investigation underway after 1 man found dead in downtown Calgary
The CPS homicide unit is investigating after it's believed a man fell to his death from a high-rise balcony. Teri Fikowski reports. An investigation is underway after a man was found dead early Sunday morning in downtown Calgary. Calgary police responded to the 1100 block of 3 Street S.E. just after 5 a.m., after receiving reports that a man may have fallen from a high-rise balcony. Police discovered a man nearby in medical distress, who was then transported to hospital in life-threatening condition, where he died from his injuries. Police cordoned off the area on 12 Avenue S.E. between MacLeod Trail and 3 Street, and 3 Street north of 12 Avenue S.E., as they investigated for roughly ten hours. Fire crews also brought in an aeriel truck to help investigators collect evidence from a ledge. Carol Roberts and her husband own the car that was crushed. They were attending a conference in Calgary and were shocked to learn while heading down to load up their vehicle to drive back to Edmonton what had happened. 'It's a little surreal. I'm digesting it but we'll figure out a way home,' she said. Roberts said while they are hopeful insurance will cover the costs, she's more concerned about the man's loved ones. 'We were here for an amazing event and didn't expect it to end that way but I guess in reality this is the things that happen. i just hope and pray for the family.' CTV spoke to the man's aunt who said he was a 22-year-old man originally from the Siksika Nation and a talented hockey player. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday. Shocked People coming out of The Guardian condo building were shocked with the discovery of a decimated car with its roof caved in and glass shattered across the street. 'It's a scene from a movie,' said Keto Allen, who came out to walk his dog. 'From first glance it does look like someone fell or jumped but somebody landed on that vehicle from pretty high up, that's what it seems like.' Allen said there are around 40 floors in the building. 'It looks like a boulder fell out of the [expletive] sky,' said Brian Bura. 'It's crazy damage.' A group of women staying in an AirBnB in the building said they heard partying and woke up to sirens. 'It gives me goosebumps,' said Leanne Nicholson, 'I could hear a party and the music was really loud, like thump thump thump thump. Denver Barkey scored twice, Sam Dickinson had three assists and Austin Elliott made 31 saves in a dominant 4-1 victory over the Medicine Hat Tigers in the championship game Sunday. Jacob Julien and Easton Cowan also scored for London, which also won in 2005 and 2016. Cowan, with seven points, became the first player since 1972 to lead the tournament in scoring for consecutive years. Barkey also had seven this year. The Toronto Maple Leafs prospect also tied Mitch Marner for the most Memorial Cup points in franchise history with 15 in nine games. The back-to-back Ontario Hockey League champions redeemed last year's heartbreaking 4-3 loss to the Saginaw Spirit in the final. The Spirit scored with 22 seconds remaining to win the trophy on home ice. Gavin McKenna — the projected top choice in next year's NHL draft — replied for Medicine Hat, which defeated the Knights 3-1 in round robin play to qualify directly for the final and earn four days off. London and Medicine Hat dominated their respective leagues en route to the Memorial Cup. The Knights — a team loaded with 12 NHL draft picks — went 55-11-2 in the regular season and lost only once in the playoffs. Vancouver Whitecaps suffer blowout 5-0 defeat at CONCACAF Champions Cup
The Vancouver Whitecaps couldn't make history as the first Canadian team to win the CONCACAF Champions Cup Sunday. Instead, Ángel Sepúlveda scored twice and Cruz Azul routed the Whitecaps 5-0 to win its seventh CONCACAF title. Sepúlveda finished with a tournament-best nine goals. Ignacio Rivero, Lorenzo Faravelli and Mateusz Bogusz also scored for Cruz Azul, which built a 4-0 lead by halftime. The Liga MX club tied crosstown rival Club America for most titles in the tournament. It was Cruz Azul's first title since 2013-14 when La Máquina beat Tijuana. The Whitecaps were hoping to be the first winner from Major League Soccer since the Seattle Sounders in 2022. Cruz Azul had four shots on goal in the first half and scored on all of them. La Máquina took advantage of a defensive lapse by the Whitecaps, and Ignacio Rivero coolly finished with his left foot in the seventh minute in front of cheering home fans at Estadio Olímpico Universitario. Faravelli's goal came after a similar defensive lapse, struck from distance and went into the net after hitting the post. After Sepúlveda's sliding goal in the 37th, Bogusz added a goal in the 45th just before the teams went into the break. Sepúlveda added another goal on a header in the 50th. It was Cruz Azul goalkeeper Kevin Mier's fourth clean sheet of the tournament. The Whitecaps had no shots on goal during the match. Vancouver was without Sebastian Berhalter because of yellow card accumulation. He scored in both legs of the semifinal against Lionel Messi and Inter Miami. The Whitecaps had hoped that captain Ryan Gauld would return from a knee injury in time for the game, but he was not available. Cruz Azul advanced with a two-legged victory over UANL Tigres. It was the first meeting between the Whitecaps and Cruz Azul.
