Girl, 12, 'followed by unknown man' in 'suspicious incident'

A 12-year-old girl was reportedly followed by an unknown man in a 'suspicious incident' in Warrington, with police now issuing a public appeal for information. Cheshire Constabulary said at around 11.06pm on Wednesday (June 18), officers received reports from a member of the public that their 12-year-old daughter had been followed near to the Warrington Rowing Club on Howley Lane earlier in the evening, at around 7.15pm. The man was described as black, around 40-years-old, of a stocky build, roughly 5'11' tall and was clean shaven, but was wearing a facial covering. Join the Manchester Evening News WhatsApp group HERE The man was also believed to have been wearing a black puffer-style coat, black jogging bottoms and black/grey and white Nike trainers. As part of enquiries into fully establishing the circumstances surrounding this incident, officers are now appealing to anyone with any relevant information to come forward and report it. Detective Sergeant Stephen Hopkins, of Warrington CID, said: 'I understand this may have caused some concern in the community, but we believe it to be an isolated incident. 'We are making numerous enquiries into this incident and, as part of those enquiries, we are asking anyone who may have witnessed this incident take place, or has any information relating to it, to please come forward. 'I'd also urge anyone who may have captured anything relevant on CCTV or dashcam footage that may aid our investigation, to contact police.' The suspect who Toronto police are searching for after he allegedly grabbed children and filmed kids at local park on Friday May 30, 2025 (TPS photos). Toronto police are investigating what they describe as a 'suspicious incident' involving a man who allegedly approached and grabbed children during a school soccer tournament in Earlscourt Park. Officers say the incident happened on Friday when they were called to the area of St. Clair Avenue West and Caledonia Road just after 12 p.m. Police say a man allegedly picked up a child and placed them on his shoulders. When confronted by the child's mother, the man reportedly put the child down. He was later seen filming children on his phone and asking them for their names, ages, phone numbers and addresses, police say. Investigators say the man was also spotted near a playground committing an indecent act, and at one point grabbed another child by the arm and asked them to come with him. That child was able to break free and run away. The man fled the area and has not yet been located. The man, who was not named by police, is described as five-foot-eight, 30 to 40 years old, with a slim build. 'He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a cream and pink coloured shirt,' police wrote in a news release. Anyone with information is asked to come forward and contact Toronto police at 416-808-1300. Anonymous tips can also be provided through Crime Stoppers.

Police are probing a suspicious incident involving an unknown man allegedly approaching and picking children up as well as filming them and committing an indecent act near an elementary school soccer tournament. Toronto Police said officers responded on Friday at about 12:15 p.m. to a call for a suspicious incident at Earlscourt Park in the St. Clair Ave.-Caledonia Rd. Area. Police alleged that a man was around the tournament when he approached a child and picked them up and placed them on his shoulders. Cops said the child's mother confronted the man and he put the child down. The man was then seen filming the children on his phone, then asking the children their names, ages, phone numbers and addresses. The man was also seen standing near the playground committing an indecent act. He approached another child, grabbed them by the arm and asked the child to come with him, but the child broke away from the man and ran away. Suspicious incident at Stone Road Mall in Guelph

Police have closed an investigation into a suspicious incident at the Stone Road Mall in Guelph. The Guelph Police Service said a Guelph woman was picking up food at the mall on Wednesday around 5:40 p.m. While she was out of her vehicle, she said a truck stopped behind her vehicle and another woman got out. Police were told the unknown woman tried to open the vehicle's back door where the Guelph woman's children were seated. The Guelph woman's partner saw what was happening and locked the door. They said the unknown person got back into her truck and drove away. In an update at 6:01 p.m., police said the woman had been identified. Police told CTV News no charges were laid and there were no outstanding concerns.
