KUALA LUMPUR, May 16 — After four consecutive weeks at No. 1, local cinematic hit Blood Brothers: Bara Naga has slipped to the second spot at the box office — though its popularity shows no signs of waning, remaining a hot topic nationwide.
This week also marks the debut of another highly anticipated local film, Gayong. The movie stars the acclaimed Beto Kusyairy, a familiar face in Malaysian cinema, in a biographical role as the late Datuk Meor Abdul Rahman, revered grandmaster of Silat Gayong Malaysia.

Pekin Ibrahim avoids working with actress wife Mona Allen
12 Jun - Although they are both actors, Pekin Ibrahim doesn't think it is a good idea to work with wife Mona Allen in the same project again. As reported on MStar, the 44-year-old actor, who last collaborated with his wife in the movie "Salina", said that he has no qualms cooperating with Mona, but that he would prefer not to. "I'd rather avoid it. For example, if I have to scold her for her acting, it's different than scolding other actors. So, to avoid having that inconvenience, it is better that we do not work on the same project together," he said. Isyariana on being a hijabi: I am still learning
12 Jun - Although she has started wearing the hijab for the past few months, Isyariana wishes for the public to give her some leeway in her journey for the better. The singer-actress, who spoke to the media at the premiere of her new movie, "Balas Balik", said that she is not perfect, and would like to focus more on strengthening herself spiritually, including her mindset. "I am more focused on the cleansing of the heart actually. Don't expect that I would not make any mistake now that I am wearing a hijab. But anyway, I am happy with my life now," she said. Isyariana also admitted that she did experience challenges when she first decided to don her hijab after returning from umrah in March. "I struggled and it felt really hot. Maybe other people had experienced that as well, so I asked God to ease it for me. But it was a temporary struggle. It's comfortable now. God has fulfilled my prayer," she said. As to whether she would join religious classes like the actresses before her, she said that she has done that for a while now. Amir Jahari not ready for a large-scale concert
12 Jun - Although he has been performing for 14 years, Amir Jahari doesn't see himself holding a big concert anytime soon. The singer-songwriter, who is having his first showcase this coming August, said that he has actually declined three different offers from organisers for a large-scale concert after winning Anugerah Juara Lagu two years ago. "To me, although I have won AJL, I am still not confident that it can pull in audiences to attend my concert. In order to do so, I think one should at least have five albums or 20 original songs including hits," he said. The singer said that he only has three albums for now, and only five songs that fans would request whenever he performs. As for his upcoming showcase, "Ubat Hati Ubat Jiwa" to be held at FINAS, Amir, real name Mohamad Amirullah Jahari, said that he is happy that 50 percent of the tickets are already sold.
