Authorities said the troopers were treated at a local hospital and released. Officials added that the driver of the other car was not injured.
'This incident highlights the critical importance of the Move Over Law. The collision occurred during a routine traffic stop, a scenario where law enforcement officers are especially vulnerable,' ASP Col. Mike Hagar said. 'Compliance with the Move Over Law is essential to prevent such accidents and protect emergency workers on Arkansas roads.'
According to state police, the Move Over Law requires drivers to move to the farthest lane away from all emergency vehicles that are stopped or parked on a street, road, highway or shoulder.

Mayor Jeff Schrag delivers first State of the City Address

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Springfield city leaders gathered this morning for the annual State of the City Address, the first for Mayor Jeff Schrag. Mayor Schrag has only been mayor for about 44 days, but he highlighted what he has seen from the city so far including resilience, generosity, and growth. He highlighted the work of the administration before him, including lowering Springfield's poverty rate. In 2015, Springfield's poverty rate was 27.5% and is now 19.4%. He also praised the community for banding together after the April 29th storms, recalling the efforts of utility crews working to get the power back on and neighbors helping clear debris. Mayor Schrag says he is proud Springfield is getting the recognition it deserves as a key metropolitan area in the Midwest, including as the host city for the Route 66 Centennial Kickoff. He said the city is moving forward and he is excited for the future and the support from citizens to continue growing through the recent approval of the ¾ cent sales tax. 'We're in a really unique spot, and not only do we have this opportunity, we now have a funding source for that half cent We can actually do some things,' Mayor Schrag said. 'We now have the opportunity to do that if we're smart, if we're forward driven, and if we listen to what the people have to say.' Mayor Schrag said although Springfield may not be perfect, the city is full of potential. He asked the audience to join him in moving Springfield forward. The City of Springfield will be sharing his full speech here. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.

Marshals say ‘Devil in the Ozarks' who escaped Arkansas prison has likely fled state

Investigators believe that a convicted murderer and former police chief known as the 'Devil in the Ozarks' has likely fled Arkansas after escaping from prison last month, a federal court filing released this week shows. A criminal complaint filed in federal court in Little Rock against Grant Hardin, who escaped prison last month, was released this week. Authorities have said Hardin escaped the Calico Rock prison in Arkansas by donning an outfit designed to look like a law enforcement uniform. In the complaint, Deputy U.S. Marshal Robert J. Hammons cites two previously publicized unconfirmed sightings of Hardin — one in central Arkansas and another in southern Missouri. 'Based on this information, investigators believe Hardin has fled the state of Arkansas to avoid recapture,' the filing said. 'He has extensive knowledge of the Ozark Mountain region, where he is believed to be possibly hiding in caves or rugged terrain that he is familiar with.' The complaint, first reported by The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, does not detail any other sightings of Hardin or evidence of him fleeing the state. Arkansas authorities have previously said they're focusing on north-central Arkansas and tips of sightings elsewhere so far have not panned out. Hardin, a former police chief in the small town of Gateway near the Arkansas-Missouri border, was serving lengthy sentences for murder and rape. He was the subject of the TV documentary 'Devil in the Ozarks.' Hardin was housed in a maximum-security wing of the primarily medium security prison, formally known as the North Central Unit. Officials are investigating whether a job Hardin held in the kitchen helped in his escape, including whether it gave him access to materials he could have used to fashion his makeshift uniform. The Arkansas Department of Corrections this week released a new photo rendering of Hardin, depicting what he may look like now. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Gov. Lamont says he's ‘seriously' considering seeking 3rd term

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Amid talks of bills and budgets, Ned Lamont on Thursday was asked if he plans to seek a third term as governor. 'I'm thinking about it seriously,' he told reporters gathered for a press conference about the end of the regular 2025 legislative session. Lamont discusses conclusion of 2025 legislative session 'I love the job, I think we've had extraordinary process compared to where we were say 10 years ago. I think Susan (Bysiewicz) and I are a pretty good team,' he continued. He acknowledged that a year ago, he may have passed on the opportunity because he felt the state was on a good, stable trajectory and growing. However, now he says it's a complicated time with 'all the uncertainty in Washington' and possibility of a recession. Over the last six months, he's warmed up to the idea of keeping his momentum going. 'Maybe it's a time that experience makes a difference,' he said. When asked if President Donald Trump in office makes him want to run more or less, he said 'more.' Connecticut lawmakers wrap up 2025 legislative session 'More. I've been through it before, I've worked with him for the first two years,' he said. '… You've got to navigate through incredible uncertainty, since every week there's a change coming on.' 'It just makes me feel like this may be a good place for me to be,' he continued. Lamont said he doesn't have a timeline as to when he'll make a final decision. In March, Westport First Selectwoman Jen Tooker, a Republican, announced her run for governor. In January, New Britain Mayor Erin Stewart, also a Republican, filed the necessary paperwork to create an exploratory campaign for statewide office. Former Gov. M. Jodi Rell was the last Republican to be elected governor in Connecticut, serving from 2006 to 2011. The gubernatorial election is set to take place on Nov. 3, 2026. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
