Former Hurricanes Netminder Announces Retirement
Former Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Anton Khudobin is reportedly retiring from professional hockey after a 17-year career. Khudobin, 39, played in the NHL in parts of 14 seasons and for six different teams, most notably Dallas and Carolina. The veteran netminder played for Carolina from 2013-2015, appearing in 70 games for the franchise. In those games, the Russian netminder had a 27-31-7 record, but a 0.914 save percentage and 2.5 goals against average along with two shutouts. He had a 0.910 save percentage in the six-game series against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Congrats to Khudobin on his retirement. Montreal Canadiens 24 year old forward questionable to start season originally appeared on The Sporting News The Montreal Canadiens have received some unfortunate news as 24 year old forward Kirby Dach is likely to miss the start of training camp as he continues to rehab from knee surgery recovery according to Maxime Truman. Dach has struggled with injuries throughout his 6 year NHL career thus far. This latest setback is a result of a knee injury sustained last season that forced him to have surgery 5 months ago. This is not the first serious injury Kirby has had in his young career. He dealt with a wrist injury in 2020 sustained while playing for Team Canada in the 2020 World Juniors tournament. He then had his first knee surgery done in 2023 after he tore his ACL in a game against his former club the Chicago Blackhawks. Kirby recorded 10 goals and 12 assists for 22 points in 57 games last season with the Habs. He has been with the organization since the 22-23 season when he was traded there from Chicago in exchange for a 1st round draft pick that became Frank Nazar. Throughout his stint in Montreal, similar to Chicago, Dach has shown promise when healthy but has consistently faced health setbacks. This begs the question of what the Montreal Canadiens do at center if Kirby Dach is not ready to go by the start of the season. The Habs are still hoping Dach can be their 2C of the future. But if these injury issues persist in the future they may need to go another route to plug this hole in the lineup or hope the solution is somewhere within the organization.

Alex Ovechkin partners with a Russian technology company to make a movie about his career
Alex Ovechkin has partnered with a Russian technology company to produce a movie, series or documentary about his NHL career. Yandex and its streaming platform, Kinopoisk, announced the agreement Tuesday. Ovechkin this past spring broke Wayne Gretzky's career goals record and has scored 897 going into the final season of his contract with the Washington Capitals. Ovechkin, who turns 40 next month, has along with his representatives granted the rights to adapt his career to Yandex's production label, Plus Studio. The Moscow native who began his professional career in the Russian league, now the KHL, is expected to take part in commercials and serve as a Yandex ambassador as part of the deal. Ovechkin has played his entire career with Washington since the Capitals drafted him with the first pick in 2004 and he debuted in 2005. He has been the face of the franchise since, served as their captain since January 2010 and was playoff MVP in 2018 when he led them to their first Stanley Cup championship.
