Voice coach to Laurence Olivier becomes 'UK's oldest podcaster'
Laurence Olivier's former voice coach said it was "enjoyable" to be able to share his stories on working with the stars as he starts a podcast series at the age of 100.George Hall, dubbed the "UK's oldest podcaster", taught at the Royal Academy of Music for 30 years and worked with stars of stage and screen including Olivier, Doctor Who's Christopher Ecclestone and Rufus Sewell. Now, the Brighton-based centenarian has started a five-part podcast series talking about his life and work, even as he continues to teach budding students.Mr Hall said: "It was a surprise to be described as possibly the UK's 'oldest' podcaster but it is very enjoyable.
"It is very interesting and enjoyable to know that my stories about various theatre and TV actors are being remembered in the podcasts."Mr Hall studied at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School in 1949 alongside actress Dame Joan Plowright and later became a voice coach for her husband, Lord Olivier.
In the first podcast episode, he tells the story of Dame Joan asking Mr Hall to keep their then-secret relationship at the time under wraps from the press, and claims Lord Olivier was "going through a phase of being absolutely obsessed about colonic irrigation".Mr Hall continues to give weekly Zoom lectures on the history of music to post-graduate students at the Royal Academy of Music and says he encourages people to "try new things", particularly starting a podcast.Other podcast episodes include sitting down with Blackadder's Sir Tony Robinson to speak about his early theatre memories, and speaking to presenter Fern Britton and Only Fools and Horses actress Tessa Peake-Jones.

Fantasy novel reimagines Welsh mythology for young readers
The Wicked Lies of Habren Faire by Cardiff-based writer Anna Fiteni will be published on August 28 and is set in a Welsh mining village in the 1800s. Inspired by Welsh mythology and written with elements of the Welsh language, the story follows Sabrina Parry in a quest to save her sister Ceridwen. Ms Fiteni said: "The Wicked Lies of Habren Faire is, ultimately, a love letter to growing up weird, classic guyliner-wearing YA romantic heroes, sisters, and my home, Wales. "I was inspired by a lot of other stories and films while writing, like Pan's Labyrinth, Into the Woods and Hadestown, and beloved YA novels like The Cruel Prince and An Enchantment of Ravens. "Mix those with a childhood fascination with Peter Pan and the illustrations of Cicely Mary Barker, and the lasting memory of a school trip down a coal mine, and here we are." Ms Fiteni wrote the book while in her final year of studying in England and is shaped by Wales. "I was lucky to be exposed to a fair bit of Welsh mythology when I was young. This isn't the case for every Welsh child," she said. "Like the language, Welsh history and stories aren't always accessible. I noticed this particularly in the fantasy books I read. "We have a wealth of weird and wonderful myths in Wales, but I rarely saw them put to paper. It was rarer still to see that writing done by a Welsh author."

Kim Kardashian fans ‘terrified' over her bizarre ‘pitgina' as she waves in new photo from Venice trip
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) KIM Kardashian has sparked online debate with a bizarre body detail fans are calling a "pitgina" in new photos from her trip to Venice. On June 26, Kim, 44, waved to onlookers in a tiny bandeau top upon arriving at her Italian hotel for friends Lauren Sanchez and Jeff Bezos' wedding this weekend. 6 Kim Kardashian, sister Khloe and their mom Kris Jenner arrived on June 26 to The Gritti Palace hotel in Venice, Italy, stepping off a speedboat to join Lauren Sanchez and Jeff Bezos' wedding guests Credit: BackGrid 6 Fans spotted a strange dent in Kim's armpit area Credit: BackGrid 6 Kim later changed into a snakeskin dress to kick off the wedding festivities Credit: Getty Fans immediately spotted a concerning ripple on her underarm area. "Why does it look like a belly button?" one follower asked on a Reddit thread. "What is that? I'm terrified!" said a second. "What kind of 'pitgina' is that?" another replied, leading others to adopt the term- a combination of "armpit" and "vagina." Read More Kim Kardashian KIM THIEF DEAD Kim jewel thief dubbed 'Blue Eyes' dies days after sentencing for $10m raid New York-based plastic surgeon Dr. Norman M. Rowe, M.D. told The U.S. Sun that the dent could be an "axillary hollowing." "An axillary hollowing is essentially a divot or indentation in the armpit area that can result from certain cosmetic procedures," Dr. Rowe explained. "The most common causes include liposuction to the upper arm or armpit, an arm lift or brachioplasty, or breast augmentation when the implant is placed through the transaxillary route—that is, through an incision in the armpit. "In these procedures, tissue is removed or repositioned in a way that can leave behind visible contour changes, especially in someone lean like Kim Kardashian. "While a cyst or an ingrown hair could technically create a lump or swelling in that area, they would rarely create this kind of indentation or volume loss." Kim Kardashian looks incredible on a bed topless in very glamorous new photoshoot - but fans have one complaint Fortunately for Kim, the hollowing could be easily corrected. "A correction would likely involve fat grafting—transferring fat from another area of the body and carefully injecting it into the hollow to restore a smoother, more natural contour," Dr. Rowe said. "It's a quick outpatient procedure with a relatively easy recovery. Most patients are back to normal activities in a few days and see results over the course of a few weeks.' Kim has never acknowledged any past plastic surgery, except for getting Botox injections to smooth out wrinkles. READY FOR ROMANCE? Kim just arrived in the Italian city to celebrate her close friend Lauren Sanchez's wedding to billionaire Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. She was spotted giving a close hug to the newly single Orlando Bloom, who is also a wedding guest this weekend. As The U.S. Sun reported, Orlando has split from his partner of nine years, Kim's pal Katy Perry. According to reports, Orlando plans to "hit the dance floor hard" and be the "life of the party" this weekend. Kim is single after dating Odell Beckham Jr. and Pete Davidson, following her divorce from Kanye West in 2021. Her momager Kris Jenner and sisters Khloe and Kylie have joined her for the big wedding. 6 Kim's armpit was exposed during an outing in which she also chatted with Orlando Bloom Credit: Splash 6 Kim wore a skintight dress as she joined her family and friends for the wedding Credit: Getty
