Guelph Police investigating armed robbery at a south-end bank
A TD Bank is closed following and early morning robbery in Guelph, June 7, 2025 (Hannah Schmidt).
Guelph police are investigating after a south-end bank was robbed early Saturday.
Officers were called to the TD Bank near Gordon Street and Clair Road at approximately 8:40 a.m. Police say a lone male suspect entered the building with a handgun and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. A handgun was recovered at the scene.

No physical injuries were reported.
A note posted on the front doors of the bank stated that, 'Due to an emergency situation, this location is temporarily closed,' and directed clients to the nearest branch located at 496 Edinburgh Road South.

In an email to CTV News, Natasha Ferrari, a spokesperson for TD Bank, said TD was supporting law enforcement through their investigation.
'At this time, TD Branch #2506 is temporarily closed. We will reopen it as soon as possible. Customers can continue to access EasyLine, EasyWeb, the TD Mobile App or other branches for in-person or virtual appointments for all of their banking needs,' Ferrari said in part.
The robbery suspect was described as a Black male, believed to be in his mid-to-late-20s, approximately six feet tall. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a white or grey sweater, black pants, a pink silk mask and a black hat.

Remains of Merritt, B.C., man found 2 years after disappearance
Social Sharing RCMP in the B.C. Interior have confirmed that a Merritt man's body was found more than two years after his disappearance. Miguel Mack was last seen on Feb. 27, 2023. He was reported missing on March 3 when family had not seen or heard from him for several days. On Wednesday, RCMP said that they had learned that his remains had been found and identified in April. Police said that Mack's family had been told of the discovery, but they did not disclose where exactly his remains were found. Cyclist fatally struck by pickup truck on Vancouver Island: RCMP
A bike tire is seen in this stock image. (Milada Vigerova/ A senior cyclist was struck and killed by a pickup truck in the Vancouver Island community of Nanoose Bay on Friday, according to police. The Oceanside RCMP says first responders were called to Marina Way near Carmel Place around 10:50 a.m. after a collision involving multiple cyclists and a Ford pickup truck. Two cyclists were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police. A third died at the scene. Police say the deceased is a 79-year-old man from Qualicum Beach. 'While all of the contributing factors into this collision are still being determined, the initial investigation indicates that the pickup truck entered onto Marina Way from a side street and collided with the cyclists who were riding on Marina Way,' Mounties wrote in a news release Saturday. 'Drugs and alcohol on the part of the pickup truck driver and the cyclists have been excluded as contributing factors. The pickup driver remained on scene and is co-operating with the investigation.' RCMP collision analysts and the BC Coroners Service are investigating the crash, and police ask anyone with information or video to call 250-248-6111.

Search operation underway for man, 20, who possibly drowned near Verdun Beach
Montreal police and firefighters are searching for a 20-year-old man who went missing in the waters of the St. Lawrence River near Verdun Beach on Saturday afternoon. Police say several 911 calls were placed at about 5:20 p.m. concerning a man in distress in the water. When police arrived at the scene, they were unable to locate him from the shore, police spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils said. Nautical patrols with Montreal police and firefighters are currently on the water. The Canadian Coast Guard has also been called in to help with the search operation, Chèvrefils said. According to preliminary information, the man might have fallen into the water while playing with a ball, she said.
