Coldplay to re-release nine albums on records made from recycled plastic battles
Coldplay are set to reissue nine of their albums on records made from recycled plastic bottles.
The Viva la Vida band are continuing their environmental crusade by reissuing their material on EcoRecord LPs - which are claimed to reduce carbon emissions during the manufacturing process by 85 per cent when compared to traditional vinyl production.
Jen Ivory, managing director of Coldplay's record label Parlophone, said: "We are incredibly proud to partner with artists such as Coldplay who share our commitment to a more sustainable future for music.
"The shift to EcoRecord LP for their releases is a testament to what's possible when innovation meets intention.
"It's not just about a new product, it's about pioneering manufacturing that significantly reduces environmental impact, providing fans with the same high-quality audio experience while setting a new standard for physical music production."
The band are re-issuing their debut album Parachutes (2000), A Rush of Blood to the Head (2002), X+Y (2005), Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends (2008), Mylo Xyloto (2011), Ghost Stories (2014), A Head Full of Dreams (2015), Everyday Life (2019) and Music of the Spheres (2021) in an eco-friendly manner.
The LPs are made up of around nine recycled bottles, which are cleaned and process into small pellets before being moulded into records.
Coldplay's most recent album - 2024's Moon Music - has already been released on an EcoRecord LP.
The Clocks band are attempting to tour in an environmentally friendly way but frontman Chris Martin previously admitted there is still "quite a long way to go" to find a fully eco-friendly way to perform around the world.
The 48-year-old singer told BBC Radio 2 in 2021: "We've been working with some amazing brands to see how we can cut down as much of the environmental impact as possible.
"We still have quite a long way to go. But we've already come quite a long way."
Coldplay teamed up with direct air capture pioneers Climeworks to ensure that their Music of the Spheres World Tour had a net-zero carbon footprint.
They said in a statement: "Playing live and finding connection with people is ultimately why we exist as a band. We've been planning this tour for years, and we're super excited to play songs from across our whole time together.
"At the same time, we're very conscious that the planet is facing a climate crisis.
"So we've spent the last two years consulting with environmental experts to make this tour as sustainable as possible, and, just as importantly, to harness the tour's potential to push things forward.
"We won't get everything right, but we're committed to doing everything we can and sharing what we learn. It's a work in progress and we're really grateful for the help we've had so far."

‘Not guilty': US singer Chris Brown fights UK assault charges in London court
Chris Brown has pleaded not guilty to charges linked to a London nightclub brawl, with his trial scheduled to begin in October 2026. The Grammy-winning singer is accused of causing grievous bodily harm and possessing an offensive weapon. Despite strict bail conditions, Brown is continuing his international tour, including performances in London and beyond. American R&B singer Chris Brown on Friday pleaded not guilty in a UK court to a charge stemming from an alleged London nightclub brawl in 2023. Brown, 36, wearing a dark suit and tie as well as glasses, stood in the dock in London as the charge was put to him, replying: 'Not guilty, ma'am.' The singer, who is on £5 million ($6.7 million) bail, waved to people in the public gallery as he left, following his plea to allegedly attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent. A five to seven-day-long trial was scheduled to start on 26 October 2026. The singer was held in custody for nearly a week in May after he was arrested in the northwestern city of Manchester. He was later released on bail. Under the terms of his bail, he will forfeit the £5 million guarantee if he fails to return for court proceedings. He was also given the go-ahead to continue his scheduled international tour, which began on 8 June in Amsterdam. Brown is charged with attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent in relation to an assault in which the victim was allegedly struck several times with a bottle before being pursued, punched and kicked. The alleged incident took place at a nightclub in Hanover Square in London on 19 February 2023 while Brown was touring in the UK. Grammy winner Police detained him in the early hours of 13 May at a five-star hotel in Manchester after he reportedly flew in by private jet. Other bail terms include surrendering his passport if he is not travelling. He is also required to live at a specific address known to the court and is not permitted to visit the nightclub where the alleged assault took place or contact the alleged victim, Abraham Diah. He appeared in the dock with co-defendant Omololu Akinlolu, a US national, with whom he is jointly charged. He rose from a local church choir in Virginia to sudden fame with his rich R&B voice and later rap, but his reputation has been tarnished by the allegations of abuse. He is also scheduled to perform in France, Portugal and the US later in the year before the tour wraps up in Memphis in mid-October.

Sabrina Carpenter's New No. 1 Hit Pushes A Years-Old Album Back To The Charts
There's a lot of excitement around Sabrina Carpenter and her music at the moment. Just when it looked like interest in her previous efforts might be dwindling, she announced another album — and earns another global smash at the same time. The recently-named Grammy winner dropped 'Manchild,' the first taste of her upcoming album Man's Best Friend, a little over a week ago. This frame, the cut launches at No. 1 on a number of charts all around the world, including in the United Kingdom, where she's become a true superstar. Fans in that country didn't just focus their listening on 'Manchild,' though. They also returned to several of her older titles, turning one of them into a success years after it was released. Carpenter broke into mainstream consciousness for many people in 2024 with Short n' Sweet, but it's her previous album Emails I Can't Send that mounts an impressive comeback. That project reenters both the Official Albums chart and the Official Albums Streaming ranking this week, after missing both tallies just a few days ago. The full-length returns at Nos. 93 and 98, respectively. Emails I Can't Send was released in the summer of 2022. By that point, Carpenter had already made a name for herself, but wasn't yet a true pop star. The project has thus far spent a little over a year on both tallies, and has only barely broken into the top 40 on either of them. In fact, Emails I Can't Send reached its all-time high of No. 40 on the main list of the most-consumed albums in the U.K. in March of 2025 — well over two years after it debuted. Short n' Sweet, Carpenter's latest full-length, also gains quite a bit of ground, seemingly pushed north by the release of 'Manchild,' even though that track isn't featured on the Grammy-winning project's tracklist. The project returns to No. 1 on the Official Albums Streaming list and continues to live inside the top 10 on the Official Albums chart, though it dips a few spaces. The set also ascends on both the Official Albums Sales and Official Physical Albums rankings and reappears on the Official Vinyl Albums tally, becoming a bestselling title once again. 'Manchild' is one of seven tracks by Carpenter currently charting in the U.K. The new country-leaning pop tune opens at No. 1 on four of the half-dozen tallies on which it debuts, and becomes an instant top 10 smash across the board.
